Dabura 12,207 Report post Posted January 7, 2019 (edited) Craig's List: Hughes stays ahead of Kakko after World Juniors [TSN] Quote Kakko put his name in the World Junior history books by scoring the winning goal for Finland Saturday night in the gold-medal game against the U.S. While Kakko had a strong tournament, I still don’t see a better player available in this draft than Hughes, who was limited by injury at the World Juniors but has been outstanding with the U.S. National Development U18 Team this season. Instead, Kakko is in a race with Russian right wing Vasili Podkolzin (No. 3) and Lethbridge Hurricanes centre Dylan Cozens (No. 4) to establish the second-best prospect in this draft class. Button's top 10: Jack Hughes (C) Kaapo Kakko (RW/C) Vasili Podkolzin (RW) Dylan Cozens (C) Philip Broberg (D) Trevor Zegras (C) Matthew Boldy (LW) Kirby Dach (C) Arthur Kaliyev (RW) Bowen Byram (D) Edited January 8, 2019 by Dabura 1 krsmith17 reacted to this

LeftWinger 4,961 Report post Posted January 9, 2019 yep, right now Ottawa sits dead last with the best odds to get the #1. Meaning, ugh, Jack Hughes to the Avs. We just need to sell at the deadline, all the players that we are talking about and get as many picks/prospect in return and hit dead bottom before the season ends. Still, Avs are pretty much guaranteed a top 5 pick. Bleh!

Team GP Pts Detroit 45 39 St Louis 41 38 + 8 possible points LA 44 37 + 2 possible Philly 43 36 +4 possible Dumpster 43 35 +4 possible Soo they all win their games we drop into a tie for da bottom St Louis 46 Philly 40 LA 39 Detroit 39 Dumpster 39 So don't give up the ship yet on that 31st place. I want a bottom 2 finish at a minimum. We lose 5% in the odds of getting number 1 if 2nd but worst case we get a top 5 pick. So say we finish in a 3 way tie with LA and Dumpster Fire. kipwinger 8,524 Report post Posted January 11, 2019 I love redrafts. They're proof positive that the talent in the first round is WAY closer than what everyone makes it out to be in most instances. Year after year we hear about "tiers" and how such and such guys are heads and tails better than such and such guys. And then they aren't. It's great to see how little anybody actually knows about how these kids will turn out.

What is going on in Philly and LA? How is a team with Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, Van Riemsdyk, Simmonds, Konecny, Patrick, Provorov, Gostisbehere, Sanheim 2nd last in the NHL??? How is a team with Kopitar, Kovalchuk, Carter, Brown, Taffoli, Doughty, Muzzin, Quick dead last in the NHL? Their core is getting old, and they should soon be looking to rebuild, but still. I don't think anyone could have predicted either of these teams to be THIS bad... Either way, the Wings have a real shot at finishing this season dead last, and I think at worst we'll have top 3 odds in the draft lottery.
