Nah, seriously though, I'm not too high on Podkolzin either. I wouldn't hate if we picked him at 6, but in my opinion there are better options available... I could see Yzerman taking Caufield. He's shown a willingness to take high skill diminutive forwards in the past. I wouldn't hate that pick to be honest... It's tangentially related to last year's pick actually.... I watched Zadina, didn't like what I saw at all. I think that was a miss, I've not been shy on that point as you know. FWIW, I would say 2019 Podkolzin > 2018 Zadina. Podkolzin's club stats were blah this season, but he jumped around between different leagues and never really settled down. (Also, again, he's really young.) I suspect that if he'd spent this season in, say, the QMJHL, he probably would've wrecked shop. Initially thought Nemchinov, but while looking up his stats he was always a 40 sumthin pts guy. Then while researching I was shocked to see that Kovalev had amassed 1029 pts along with 1304 pen min. Forget which former Pen said it, but somebody said Kovalev woulda had double those points if he actually tried. Dude never trained hard and could get lazy on the ice too (probably why so many PIM).
