Madison Bowey, Mike Green, Filip Hronek, Luke Glendening, Thomas Vanek, Luke Witkowski, Alec Regula, Lane Zablocki, Ryan O'Reilly, John Adams, Cole Fraser, Reilly Webb, Vili Saarijarvi, Seth Barton, Martin Frk, Dylan McIlrath, Gustav Lindstrom, Patrick Holway..... That's just current players on the team or in the system.

I've mentioned this several times, so I didn't think I needed to explain (again) in detail, but what I meant was high-end forwards. Not one in the entire organization. In my opinion, we need to add a Zadina type right-handed sniper.

I'm sure the next time Holland has to choose between two Zadina-esque prospects, both of whom he's equally capable of landing he'll do so.  I'm just not going to hold my breath waiting for that scenario.  You take the best talent you can get, Holland has certainly do so.  It's not like he's turning away high-end right handed forwards.

Rasmussen was not the best player available two years ago. Svechnikov was not the best player available four years ago. There were higher regarded right-handed forwards available in both drafts.

Yeah, but you weren't complaining about the handedness of those two guys when they were drafted. It's only because he hasn't acquired any righties since then that you care.  I mean, you could say the same thing about Larkin or Mantha right?  But you liked those guys more on draft day so they seem to get more of a pass for being lefties.

No, that wasn't my *only* complaint about those guys being drafted, but it was a complaint since long before they were drafted. And it still hasn't been addressed. Like I said, I don't care how we acquire a high-end right-handed winger (sniper), I just think it needs to happen, hopefully sooner than later...

I'm in agreement with KRS here.  The left handedness has to STOP NOW.  You have to have right handed players to work the left side of the ice.  Especially on a power play.  Drafting/Aquiring 20 left handed forwards does us zero good.  Larkin/AA/Veleno/Rasmussen.  There's your center depth.  Hughes/Zadina/Mantha/Bertuzzi.  There's your LW depth.  Glendening/Frk.  There's your RW depth.  Sure, Nielsen, Abdelkader, Helm, De La Rose, Ehn, and Svechnikov can plug in on the RW while we are sucking.  That helps the tank.  But the reason we SUCK and are losing while trying instead of trying to lose is in large part due to not having 2 big righties that can score and forecheck.  We play on 2/3 of the offensive ice instead of all of it.  Easy for 2 defenders to cover 3 forwards playing in 2/3 of the zone.  Like guarding a basketball player that can only use 1 hand.

But srsly...

I think it's fair to suspect the Wings have some form of institutional bias against right-shooting forwards. I can count on one hand the number of high-end right-shot forwards who've played for the Wings within the past decade or so. I'm inclinded to believe there's something to that, but it's possible there isn't anything to it.

I'd like to see more righties in our forward group, but I don't think it's a pressing concern. To me, it's an amusing (and sorta fascinating) running joke. A meme.

I don't think there's anything to it. I doubt the Wings have any bias for or against left / right shooters. I just wish they would make it somewhat of a priority to add one or two high end right-handed wingers in the next couple years.

I don't think a team can't win with a left-handed heavy forward group, I just think it makes it much easier to make plays in the offensive zone with a balanced attack from both sides of the ice.

I am sorry to hear about your industrial accident. Losing all your fingers on one hand must make life pretty difficult I would imagine. But the AD&D payout, ooh boy.

Let's compile a list, because I'm genuinely interested in how many "High-end, right shot" forwards have been in the league over the last 10 years.  I'll start.

Ovechkin

Stamkos

Laine

Seguin

...

MacKinnon springs straight to mind.

I'm not even talking about that caliber of player, though. I'm saying we've had a bizarrely small number of right-shot top-sixers and that pretty much all of our right-shot forwards have been specialists. It's weird. Almost defies logic, assuming there's no institutional bias.

I think you're confusing "high-end" with elite...

MacKinnon, Point, Wheeler, Marner, Bergeron, Pastrnak, Scheifele, Eichel, Panarin, Lindholm, Giroux, Stone, Kessel, DeBrincat, Atkinson, Zibanejad, Krejci, Pavelski, Boeser, Arvidsson, Reinhart, Johansen, Barzal, Forsberg, Perron, Tuch, Palmieri, Oshie, Marchessault, Trocheck, Konecny, Johnson, Kapanen... just to name a few.

Some of those guys I'd consider elite, some I would consider high-end, but ALL would significantly help our team... which is the point. There are a ton of high-end right shot forwards in the league, and more coming every year. The fact that we haven't had a single one in the past decade is kind of crazy isn't it?

It is crazy.  Sometimes, Nashville puts five right handed shots on their powerplay and I can't believe my eyes.  Winnipeg has a bunch of right handed shots also.

And they're both really good teams. COINCIDENCE?
