Two-way forward who plays in all zones means defensive specialist to you?

He means whatever he means to each individual

IDK what you're excited about. This kid hasn't even played a game in the NHL yet.

Hes not a senior so hes got that going for him

The more picks we have the more chances we have of landing a star player its pretty simple regardless of the percentages ,

I once knew a guy that thought the more money he spent on lottery tickets and off track betting, the better his chances were of hitting it big. He never won the lottery, and he ended up filing bankruptcy and losing his house. My point is: sometimes its better to get something of value with ur assets then to gamble that they MIGHT get u something better. If ur strategy is to depend solely on chance (which is what the draft is) you will fail.

Sportsnet had a nice article analyzing the value of draft picks a few years ago.

Going from 1st overall to 5th overall you've already declined in over 50% in value.

4th round picks have a value of about 0.05 - 0.07

Reason a 4th round has so little value, is because there's only about a 20% success rate for a player to make the NHL from that round. And on top of that, lets says your 4th rounder pays off and makes the NHL, the likelihood of them ever having a scoring rate above 10 pts a season is so low it's staggering.

So in the Erne trade we basically traded a pick that has about a 95% chance of becoming as valuable or less valuable than Erne... for Erne.

A smart gambler makes that trade.

Chances of winning the lottery are like 1 in 14 million if your friend thought by wasting every $ he had would make him when then im sorry hes got himself to blame

obviously id trade a 1st or a 2nd depending on who we get back, but were a rebuilding team so i wouldnt just be giving picks away for another bottom 6 guy  after we also got filppula and when we have plenty guys as it is in the ahl desperately trying to get a spot as well . Made no sense to me

Hope is not a strategy...
