In the last 12 games:

1. 5 or more goals against in 6 games.

2. 2 games with 7, 1 with 8, 1 with 10 against.

3. Combined GAA of 5.08!

4. Outscored 61-48.

Are they playing without a goalie? Are they playing a 4 forward, 1D system? How are they this bad defensively?

Outside of Seider the D is trash and Greiss and Nedeljkovic are getting exposed.

D are trash after Seider.

Ned is way different than prime Howard/Bernier/Greiss. More acrobatic and aggressive playing the puck. But not actually any better than those guys in their days. He's average, and will get shattered and exposed if the D allows it. But he's still very new to this league and should get better over the next few years.

This group needs Edvinsson soon.

Left side D is trash. Right side is good.

Even the Rangers win was Greiss standing on his head.

They played hard for 65 minutes, it was a good game of the whole team. The third line looked good, strong defensively, created havoc and had really good breakaway chances. Can´t wait for Vrana to return, that would give us three good lines up front.

Vrana-Larkin-Raymond

Guelph line

Ras-Veleno-Zadina

Ras really has found his game. The last ten games or so he looks like a different player, a lot stronger on the puck , more confidence and finally plays like a 6´6" player. With Veleno and Zadina it´s similar, they both play with more confidence as well and it shows.

Ras is sooooo much more effective on the wing. Veleno is much more suited to center that line than Ras is with what we have.

Veleno centered that line yesterday and as I said, they looked really good.

Ras-Veleno-Zadina:

The Failed First Rounders Line?

The Underachievers Line?

The Bust Line?

I dub this line "Tic Tac Joe"

If you watched last night, you probably couldn't believe your freaking eyes for the first 2/3rds of the play.

Tic - Zadina with a beautiful lead pass across the blue line to a moving Rasmussen
Tac - Rasmussen with a beautiful spin move with eyes in the back of his head and passes to an on coming Veleno
Joe - Veleno completely astonished that he's wide open for 5 full strides to the goalie (on a breakaway basically) and finishes by shooting a 22 mph wrist shot flub at the goalies stick.

Seriously, I really LIKE that line.  I don't know why everybody is ready to give up on a 3rd line of 1st rounders.  Nobody pegged these guys to be 40 goal/80 point guys when they were drafted.  All 3 of them are 22 years old right now.  And who else are we going to substitute at this stage?

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond

Vrana - Suter - Forsberg

Berggren - Veleno - Zadina

Smith - Rasmussen - Soderblom

Lindholm - Seider

Edvinsson - Hronek

Sebrango - Lindstrom

Ned

THIS is the Yzerplan.

Mike Rasmussen (Big Ras). Class: Heavy weapons / Demolitions. Born and raised in a log cabin he built with his own hands. Expert trained in heavy weapons for the dirty jobs. When you need the big guns, call the big man.

Filip Zadina (Ztrick). Class: Sniper. Trained in the foreign legion and born and raised in parts unknown. Lurks on the perimeter waiting for the perfect chance to execute his precision ranged attack. By the time you blink its already too late. He's scored a Ztrick on you.

Joseph Veleno (GI Joe). Class: Italian. Once a child prodigy, now he's the squads leader and expert in general warfare. Joe works hard and leads by example, and he has the notches on his belt to prove it. When he's not leading his elite mercenary team into battle you can find him ignoring texts from super models and stealing your girl.

Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond

Vrana - Suter - Forsberg     (Forsberg is unlikely, him and NSH stated that they want an extension)

Berggren - Veleno - Zadina

Smith - Rasmussen - Soderblom      (Soderblom needs a year in the AHL)

Lindholm - Seider                (Lindholm seems unlikely because of age and money)

Edvinsson - Hronek            (Edvinsson seems to need another year in the AHL/SHL)

Sebrango - Lindstrom

Ned

It´s hard to tell how the roster looks like in 22/23. You never really know what SY is doing next, but I don´t believe that he is going for big name UFA´s, trades are always a possibility though.

We need another year of development for our d-prospects. Wallinder, Edvinsson and Johansson are all still a year away from the NHL. I guess Staal is going to get a new contract, maybe Zadorov and the other LD spot will be filled through trade.

Edvinsson next year would be nice but I think he needs a really strong finish to the season to make Yzerman think about it.

Our rebuild is going to take a bit longer if Steve can't lure in a UFA or two.  I think you are right, though.  Lindholm and Forsberg are pipedreams.

5 more goals tonight.

Ned has been awful.

Stecher was awful.

Leddy was awful.

Staal is too slow to make a difference.

We will be lucky to get late round picks for staal/stech/leddy.

Sitting 9th from bottom with no one below us with a lot of games in hand.  Blash can't even coach a tank properly...and we sit in no man's land.

How badly do we get screwed on draft day?

Oh and in case you were wondering HSJ reported today that Bert is still NOT VAXXED and won't play against the Canucks.
