#2617054 Free agents this off season

Posted by GoWings1905 on 27 June 2015 - 06:27 PM

The Wings will pursue Green hard, get outbid again by someone else in free agency (which is fine in this case) and then just continue to fill the roster internally.

I really don't expect much of anything come July 1st. With Blashill and the wave of prospects coming, I'm OK with that.

You think I enjoy watching Chicago win again? NOPE.

I think it was a wise decision you answered that question yourself. There's room for doubt.

I believe you might be looking for the Blackhawks fan forum. Established in 2010.

Besides the Kings two cups, watching the champion since 2009 has been brutal. Crosby on the Wings home ice, the Blackhawks three times and the d-bag Bruins.

Basically what I'm saying is, I like it a lot more when the Red Wings are doing the winning.

#2614286 Wings open to trading Mantha and/or their 1st Round Pick

Posted by GoWings1905 on 13 June 2015 - 10:37 PM

For an organization rapidly embracing a full youth movement, there doesn't seem to be much logic behind giving up Mantha and/or a first round pick. I personally don't buy it and hope Holland stays the course at this point. If drafting and developing is your thing, then you don't sacrifice that for Dion Phaneuf. Maybe three years ago with a younger Pav and Z, but not anymore.

#2613724 Jeff Blashill named 27th head coach in Red Wings history

Posted by GoWings1905 on 09 June 2015 - 04:36 PM

How is it not? He has zero prior NHL head coaching experience

So did Mike Babcock at one time. Every coaching hire is a gamble really. What veteran coach available would have been a sure thing and made more sense than Blashill?

#2613422 Report: Cleary wants to return for 1 more season

Posted by GoWings1905 on 07 June 2015 - 12:59 PM

Honestly, probably Andersson. Which I cant say I really bothers me.

Agreed. Another expendable player, just like Nestrasil was. The whole point is that Cleary on the team isn't going to prevent better players from actually getting into the games. Somebody has to be your 14th forward -- better someone like Cleary than a prospect who could be playing every night in Grand Rapids.

#2612521 WCF : (3) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

Q > Babcock ... he's going to get one big raise when his contract is up.

I'm not a huge Babs fan, but I don't think there is a huge gap between the two -- if any. Q has had the best roster in hockey basically every year since the Wings in 2009. How hard is it to mess up four really solid lines and putting Keith/Seabrook out there for half of the game? I'm not saying Q is a bad coach, but there are plenty of coaches that would kill for his situation.

Pray the Ducks win tomorrow because the Blackhawks will slaughter the Lightning.

#2609748 Babcock says good-bye in full page ad. SIAP

Class act. Always represented the Red Wings organization well and I have no hard feelings that he left.

That being said, f*** the Leafs and I hope he fails miserably there.

Glad Eddie got to call the loss.

#2609217 It's Official: Babcock to coach Maple Leafs

This is where Holland trades Weiss, Smith, and Jurco to Toronto for Phaneuf.

I know he had a tough season, but I still love Jurco's upside. I hope the Wings don't give up on him already and the new coach utilizes his ability more appropriately next season.

#2609172 Coaching Search Thread a.k.a. the Jeff Blashill Thread

Posted by GoWings1905 on 20 May 2015 - 05:19 PM

I'd keep both our assistants. They were the only reason we made the playoffs this year.

Agreed. I thought both did a really nice job. It would probably help Blash as well to have a guy like Granato around that has been a head coach before.

Hitchcock should be a frontrunner

A worse version of Babcock that can't get an even more talented team than the Wings out of the first round? Hitchcock wears on his players within a couple years everywhere he goes. Blashill already has a relationship with most of the roster in Detroit. I get the inexperience angle, but Hitchcock doesn't make sense to me given the situation here and the Red Wings plans to continue getting younger.

Whatever. I wanted Babs gone and now we can all watch his ego try to fix that joke of a franchise. Good thing he loves 4th liners because he has plenty to choose from on that team.

Blashill!
