#2492539 Weiss - who would take him next season and does he have a full NTC

Posted by GoWings1905 on 07 March 2014 - 07:24 PM

His value is so low, the return would be minimal. I would rather see Weiss get healthy and contribute like he has before in his career. I think he deserves more of a chance here until the contract is declared an overwhelming failure.

#2492537 Patrick Eaves First Game as a Predator

I personally always liked him more than Miller, but Eaves' health unfortunately hurt his case. Once Miller re-signed, it was basically the end for Eaves as they are redundant.

Hope he succeeds in Nashville and earns a contract somewhere next season.

#2492306 3/6 GDT: Avs 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT) Sorry Nick.

Monster has to start tomorrow. The team just wins with him in net and that's more important than anything right now. Jimmy isn't getting the job done the past two games and I don't fault him entirely, but that record is pathetic looking.

They could easily be 4-0 out of the break and those three lost points are massive. The script of the season is injuries and blown leads.

Franzen has stunk tonight. Odd for him against the Avalanche.

Now they start calling penalties after 60 minutes of letting everything go and it looked pretty weak at that.

Better than the New Jersey result, but the Wings really need this extra point. I think that has been said approximately 50 times this season and actually happened twice.

Dekeyser was at fault clearly.

He was out of position slightly for sure, but Mule kicking Jimmy's stick inadvertently didn't help either.

So excited for the ceremony. What a privilege it was to watch Nick Lidstrom play his entire career in Detroit. We witnessed perfection, in the most subtle of fashions.

Thanks for the memories #5!

Anyone know what time the ceremony starts?

6:30

Gonna be a bittersweet day. Still wish Nick was around, but more importantly he gets the ultimate honor that is so well-deserved.

#2491117 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

I wonder what number he'll wear.

Zero to represent how many people like this trade.

EDIT: On a serious note, Legwand is wearing the vacated #17 of Patrick Eaves.

The Red Wings got the better end of this trade.

Welcome to the boards, Mr. Holland.  :bye1:

Horrendous. Kenny has outdone the Kyle Quincey debacle somehow. I said it in numerous threads leading up to the deadline, but for once kicking tires and standing pat would have been prudent. Realistically, the Red Wings were at best going to sneak into the playoffs once Z was declared out for the regular season. Then you throw in Pav being gone now, Weiss having a setback and Helm injured again. You just don't overcome those losses and even if you do, is this group a real contender anyways?

Nothing against Legwand, but what happened to no rentals? If Holland was looking for 'hockey deals' and willing to overpay with prospects and picks, then he should have actually acquired an impact player like Kesler or Ehrhoff. Legwand is an upgrade over Andersson logging first line minutes, but what's the goal here? Either embrace trying to improve fully or stick with what you have and play the season out.

I just don't understand what Holland's intended direction is for the organization since Nick retired. The Red Wings are stuck in transitional years. Being mediocre is the worst spot to be, especially when it appears your philosophy is to rely more on drafting well.

Panic move and went against everything Holland preached leading up to the deadline. He has been absolutely atrocious since Nick left with personnel decisions.

I don't think banking on health is wise, especially with Helm. Weiss had a setback, Pav isn't improving, Z already gone. That's more than enough to pursue an impact forward if Holland decides to buy.

The Mike Weaver for a 5th and the Hemsky for a 3rd and 5th could have made this team MUCH better than we are now... Holland is smooching the pooch today.

Much? I think that's an overstatement for a soft, inconsistent winger and third pairing d-man. Wings need impact, not bodies.

Kenny hasn't made a worthwhile trade in six years since he acquired Stuart. I'm not banking on today changing the trend.

#2489726 Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Posted by GoWings1905 on 04 March 2014 - 09:20 PM

After tonight, time to make a decision. Either sell our UFAs, or acquire some help. Because guys are dropping like flies, and our depth is seriously lacking.

Kick tires, say they will be active in free agency this summer, won't "overpay" for impact players. Go into next season hoping for health. The Holland cycle of making moves.
