if you already have a beard you can't have a playoff beard it's just a beard, so maybe for those that already have beards don't shave your pubes for the playoffs, what do you think? if your hardcore you can get some red dye and pretend your lindsay lohan.
eh? oh and ladies can and should participate, for the benefit of the team.

New NHL trophies
02 February 2008 - 01:05 AM
Are there any trophies you'd like to see added to the ones awarded at the end of the season? What would they be for?
I'd add The Wayne Gretzky Award for who ever gets the most assists in the league, to recognize the good set-up men that often don't get enough credit.
Maybe the Nick Lidstrom indispensable player award for the highets time on ice per game.

Why doesn't the NHL have a real nat. TV contract?
12 January 2008 - 06:11 PM
I never thought i'd miss ESPN's coverage of games, but I wanted to scream when I saw that the All-Star game's only national TV coverage was on VERSUS, a channel I don't get. Is the NHL's mainstream appeal in america really that low, I'd like to think that even without a regular national contract, the fricken All-star game could pull enough ratings to be on ESPN or NBC as like a onetime thing.
Granted the NHL's not the most popular pro-sport in the country, but what is the league doing to promote growth in it's popularity? It's hard for newbies to get interested in a sport that's shown on some obscure channel that they might not even get. I don't get versus in my apartment, and as much as I enjoy hockey, it's just not practical for me to drive an hour to visit my parents every time theres a game on versus.
I think if the NHL doesn't get a better TV contract soon they're gonna be losing a lot of casual fans, the die hard fans like myself, and I imagine most of this board will obviously never stop watching hockey, but with the NHL being simply out of reach to a lot of people, a lot of casual fans might just lose interest.
sorry about the rant, i'm just really pissed off i'm gonna have to drive an hour to watch the all star game

cheli gettin no love on the powerplay
30 March 2007 - 08:13 PM
Why isn't babcock giving Chelios any powerplay time, and then doing stuff like putting samuelsson on the point on the pp. cheli used to have the most goals in the league for a defenseman (quite a few seasons ago). I know he was much younger then, but he's still a smart player, who can lead the pp from the blueline.
Which of the retired jerseys is the least worthy?

I'd say delvecchio. i've only seen one of them play, but i do know he was a poor replacement for sid abel.
