#2161698 WCSF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Sharks 2 (OT)

Posted by Vladifan on 30 April 2011 - 12:19 AM

We need the puck to get the breaks. Everyone needs to stop freaking out about the refs. The Sharks are selling everything and we have the luxury of slowmo replays. If we dove like the Nicks or Sharks we'd get more powerplays, but I'm glad we don't dive and win games with honor.

I agree with everything you have said earlier about this and this post too. However, the phrase "selling it/everything" just doesn't cut it. It doesn't define what's actually happening. Every time a player dives, he cheapens himself and not only loses our respect, he's got to be losing some self respect - even if he can't admit it at the time. What he's really saying is that he's not sure he can win fair and square so he cheats. He feigns. He pretends. This is not af****** kids' playtime activity. This is a real game where everyone is supposed to play TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY. Meanwhile, the diver does NOT trust his own talent and creativity enough to play by the rules. It sickens me, and it pisses me off that the refs will not acknowledge what's actually happening out there. Did you see the bearded wonder sitting on the bench, laughing while he rubbed his chin?

Forsberg did it early and often and I will never respect him again because of it. And he was one of the best players of his time.

I can only hope that karma will come back and bite them in their prat-falling asses.

Great 1st period by every one whose last name doesn't start with Eric

He has had a good game since then. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He HAS been playing better and with more confidence.

You can DO this, oh beloved Red Wings. It's in your genes, it's in your history. And it's in your hearts, minds, and bodies.

You.are.ready.

GO, WINGS!! GO, JUMPIN' JIMMEH!!

#2159454 (2) San Jose Sharks vs. (3) Detroit Red Wings

If we win one of the two in SJ, I think our chances will be exponentially better. Get 'em while they're
still recovering from their last series. Make it more of a psychological obstacle they would have to overcome, both physically and mentally. Make them chase and react right off the bat. Or the puck drop. Or whatever.

Which means that the Wings have got to lay it on from the first whistle to the last second. It ain't like they're not rested enough to do that.

Apologies for certain graphics still not functioning properly.

Yes, HT - and you're going to have to live with that the rest of your life...

Oh, puhleeeeeeeze! You do GREAT work! And THANKS again for all your wondrous, talented, hard work!

Mental note to Babs... tell Big E to take off Doan's head early in Game 4. That way we don't have worry about Big E playing for the rest of the playoffs and Doan won't have to worry about going back to Winnipeg.

I don't understand why posters keep putting Big E down. Yeah, he started out shaky tonight, but he ended up being a real force out there, more than once.

You must not understand satire?

If you're referring to the verbal exchange between the two of us as involving "satire", then no. I certainly must not. Yeah. My bad.

I hope you have a nice day/week/month/year/whatever. :shocking:

We will see in a few days when Bryzgalov, Yandle, and Doan all give us fits. And your attempt to mock me in a satirical way really just failed.

So much for selective reading. Somehow you missed the part about me NOT MAKING FUN OF YOUR POST.

I saw the three names and it just struck me as funny. And obviously, I'm going to have to live with that the rest of my life. <_<

I believe it's in our state constitution that CBC be included in any TV package. It's a regular channel here, just like 2,4,7, etc.

Don't know if you're kidding or not, but it certainly oughta be included in ANY national hockey coverage.

Directv, are you listening? (HELL, no!) :noevil:

Am I the only one that is worried about this matchup? Phoenix is a really solid team and Jovanovski and Hanzal are both back and ready. They still have Bryzgalov and Yandle and Doan. Most of all, they want revenge for last year. Just by reading from what the Phoenix fans have been saying, beating Detroit would be like winning the Stanley Cup for this franchise. Especially after last year when we embarrassed them on their own home ice in game 7. Therefore, I see this series going 7 games, and I don't know if we will end up on top.

Bryzgalov and Yandle and Doan, OH MY! :shocking:

I'm not making fun of your post. I'm askeert too! I just couldn't resist the temptation to mess with it. :hehe:

I like this idea a whole lot. I'll do the same as you, Vladdy. $20 for a series win; but instead of Franzen, I'll pick Zetterberg for multi-goal games. He WILL be back, and soon! Hopefully, it'll be an impetus for him to get his butt and knee back in the game. :)

Preds fans chant that too, every time they score on us. And they jeer Howard when they are behind... LOL~ Ignorant, rather than arrogant (Chicago).

If the Wings want to meet my expectations (as if that matters) they will knock Chicago out of the playoffs and then show up first round the way they did April 2, and teach Nashville a lesson. Nashville is totally beatable, but only if the Wings decide to play. Otherwise, they are young and hungry and will bury the Wings before you can say "Barry Trotz has no neck -- red, or otherwise."

This situation is 100% on the Wings roster - not just the goalies - to show up and play their best. Or not. I honestly don't know what to expect today, after Friday's game and their inability to score. We shall see.

This is it. In a nutshell. Everyone can say whatever they want, but if nothing else, this game should be a matter of pride in one's talent and work ethic. And KNOWING they can win.

I want them to win for their sakes. I want them to know the joy of beating a feisty but arrogant team. I figure I owe them that after the years of thrills, excitement, joy and oh yeah, the pain and frustration. But mostly there were the positives.

Technically speaking, I have NO idea what you're talking about but I say the Wings win. I have no logic, stats or whatever to back it up, other than the fact that I still think the Wings are a class organization and I cannot believe they will go down without proving to themselves they can DO this.

And we've officially given up...

This team is useless....thanks Babs and Kenny!

We might even pitch in and buy you a one-way ticket back to Nashville.

The 1-3-1 is a forechecking system where the first skater in pressures the puck then 3 skaters go in to support the forecheck. The main goal is to outnumber your opponent and cause turnovers.

This is a dangerous system as it has a tendency to leave your defense exposed, and most coaches go with 2-1-2. (2 skaters pressure the puck, 1 for support, 2 back on defense.)

Let's hear it for a helpful post! Thanks, Xitium.
