Are we really get THIS upset over Brentf****** Burns?

#2170626 Bieksa Calls Out Diving.........By His Teammates

Posted by RedFX on 10 May 2011 - 09:39 AM

“I know guys will do whatever it takes for a power play to win a game,” Bieksa said. “But sometimes they’re crossing that line of integrity. I think for the better of the game, for the good of the game we need people to stay on that line and not cross it, and not dive and exaggerate for calls.”

I'm surprised Don Cherry isn't up in arms about this. But it's great to hear a player actually come out and say that

After a 10-3 loss, I'm willing to sign her right now.

#2128530 Chara's hit on Pacioretty

Posted by RedFX on 10 March 2011 - 03:45 PM

I don't know if anyone saw this, but literally THE EXACT SAME PLAY happened in the Buffalo-Pittsburgh game earlier that night. Can't remember the 2 players involved, but the Sabres player was trying to beat the Penguins players along the boards. The Penguins guy got beat, came in late from the side, and slammed the Sabres guy into the turnbuckle. To be honest, that play looked like it was done with more malicious intent than this one. And yet, nobody is talking about that play being a dirty hit...nobody is demanding a suspension from the Penguins player...and no sponsor is threatening to boycott the game based on that play.

As harsh as it may sound, the only two reasons were discussing this right now is 1.Pacioretty got hurt, and 2. it's two players and teams with a recent history. Obviously, it's unfortunate what happened to Patch, and my thoughts and prayers are with him and a speedy recovery. But to be honest, there was nothing dirty about that hit. It was a play you see all the time, just with a tragic end result. That should be the end of it

#2102299 Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

Posted by RedFX on 21 January 2011 - 09:14 PM

If Nabokov clears Waivers, and ends up in Detroit...

AND if he's allowed to even compete for the Starting role, let alone win it from Howard....

That's proof positive that Babcock is a liar with his "Howie is our Starter. We're going to ride him." schtick, and that his bias against Osgood was personal.

Just as some here have opined.

.........or he just likes winning hockey games. Either one

This loyalty stuff is Hocum, hockey is a business... loyalty is why we have Draper still and may eat another year of Maltby two guys well past their best before dates.

And why we're winning....

In what parallel universe is Comrie going to play for 1.25 million?

If he signed for it on NHL 10 then it must happen in real life........

#1995272 Great or Bust?

Posted by RedFX on 06 June 2010 - 01:07 PM

It's not like he was a God-awful player. Everyone knew what he could do when we signed him. He just never really fit into the system here. And with the team circumstances at the time of the trade, we couldn't afford to be patient with him. I think a change of scenery is exactly what he needed. And hopefully he'll continue to be consistent next year

#1992976 Lidstrom Signs 1-Year Contract Extension

Posted by RedFX on 02 June 2010 - 09:41 AM

Bottom line: We're lucky to have him back AT ALL. However, were even LUCKIER that Lidstrom is the type of player that is willing to win at all costs. That is why he signed for less. Name any other player in the game today that would have taken a 1.3 million dollar paycut so his team could have extra cap-space to sign someone else......

Had lidstrom scored 70-80pts, been a finalist/won for/the norris and played lights out of course this 6.2 contract would have been amazing, but his 49pts, no nomination, half of the plus-minus from some of the previous seasons, he could never have asked for 7.45 and he knows it, and he might even decline more this upcoming season... 6.2 is sort of an absolut max, a 5M would have looked much better based on the stats he had the season that just ended.

Are you serious? He's going to go down as one of the greatest defensemen in all time league history and you think he doesn't deserve his salary because of one bad year? If you hadn't noticed, the whole team underperformed this year. Lidstrom is still one of the best defensemen in the game, and he should get paid for it imo.

#1988919 A little conspiracy in Montreal?

You know what else would slow the Flyers down? Getting more than one shot on goal per period

#1987908 Holland Wants Bert Back

Posted by RedFX on 21 May 2010 - 02:11 PM

I think this year he's shown that as long as he stays healthy, he's still a solid power forward with a little bit of a scoring touch. I wouldn't be opposed to having him back, as long as he doesn't ask for a massive increase in salary. Obviously age and health are going to be big concerns with him this year, so I think you would need to bring back an Eaves/Miller for depth.
