Haven't you seen History of the World Part 1?  You call for a piss boy.  Of course, in this day and age that might mean something else entirely....

One year deal, absolutely zero risk.  Worst case scenario is he sucks (which I doubt, playing on Pav's wing).  Best case scenario is he returns to being a 40 goal scoring sniper.  Sure is going to suck sitting on all of that cap space with nobody to sign (even if we do sign Doan which we probably won't, we still could have afforded both).  The fact that we showed almost no interest is baffling given Semin's potential.  I know Holland has pursued all the top guys this summer and unfortunately struck out on all of them.  The thing that pisses me off is the lack of foresight for the seasons leading up to this.  Did he really think Nick was going to play forever?  If all of us knew that Stuart was going back to California after this season, I'm sure Holland had some sort of idea.  I really hope I'm wrong because I love this team but as it stands now I just don't see us as a contender.  We're pretty much the same team as 08 just 4 years older with no Lidstrom and Stuart.  It sucks.

He could have an entrance like Hulk Hogan coming out of the tunnel before a match. fire works going off stone cold music and the announcers stopping and saying "dear god...is that who I think it is..it is that's STEVE YZERMAN...now it's going to be a slobber knocker"

You know, the term slobber knocker is just not used often enough outside of professional wrestling.  I vow to use it more in everyday conversation.

There's a lot of posturing going on, and almost all of the lack of player signings are out of anyone's control.  It's almost like trying to control the weather.  Good luck with that.

If an appealing move can be made, I really think Holland will try.  There just not that much above the crap line this year.

That was a good read and I loved this part:

I don’t expect, or want, Kenny Holland saying a whole lot of truthful things to me.  But let’s you and I be straight: he knows what he needs and so do we.  That hasn’t changed in months.  Sniper, scorer, a “power forward” who actually drives the net consistently and doesn’t rest on a couple of postseasons that are actually turning out to be miraculous exceptions (clear enough for you Mule?).  And the Wings need one more quality, reliable defenseman.  You don’t lose Rafalski, Lidstrom, Stuart over a two-year period and replace them with a tainted Dive and a rookie (no matter how good he’s going to be and he’s a Calder candidate).

I can't help but think of what would have happened when Weber face planted Z into the glass and Doan were a Wing.  Do you think he would have sat back and did nothing like the rest of the team did??  No, he's a type of guy who would go ballistic and not stand for that crap.  Wings need someone like that but I hold little faith that he would come here.

Dirty player?  How often do we overlook Kronwall when he leaves his skates for one of those devastating hits that we all like.  Was McCarty an angel for pummeling Lemeiux who did not even show any willingness to fight back?  I'd say that was pretty dirty but we LOVED him for it.  Vladimir Konstantinov was notorious for getting away with little dirty cheap shots and the guy was a fan favorite for his tenacity and no fear attitude.  Give me a couple of guys like Doan and the Cup will be ours.

Wait wait wait.  Now are you telling me that he looked at that amazing up and coming talent pool of the mighty Minnesota Wild and thought the Wings were a better option??  This does not make sense according to a picture painted for us by a certain poster...

The thing I am most disappointed with today is the number of times seeing the fat cartoon inviting me to click to see the tip to a flat belly after refreshing my screen repeatedly.

It should be Dats, Flip and Bert.  Zetterberg can be the 4th but other than that beauty Forsberg move he pulled a couple of weeks ago he seems to have about the same success as Huds which isn't all that hot.
