#2347912 Ken Holland on TSN 1290

Holland's philosophy: When you don't have success, redefine what success is.

The Axe: First please use proper spelling and grammar, your post was torture to read.

As for the content: Mule is a tale of two players, one that is unstoppable, the other I'm 99% sure smokes pot under the bleachers before each shift.

#2337807 NHL submits offer to NHLPA - **Suspension Warning Post #70 & #273*

ESPN is reporting it, since they are so deaf to hockey, its got to be a good sign that they are saying it.

#2328783 Abdeklader signs 4 year extension, $1.8m cap hit

Too much in my mind, he still takes too many boneheaded penalties, his offense is easily replaced by others with a lower cap hit, and his defense is suspect in key situations.

They would get high marks under "Stadium Experience"; every home game might be the last one they play.

And lots of leg room and space to spread out...

#2322853 Holland losing his moxie? Is Detroit slipping as UFA destination?

Posted by Shaman464 on 29 July 2012 - 03:51 PM

lmao nice redirection there.

This has nothing to do with hall of famers and not one of the players you listed is an overpaid has been anyway....with the exception of Samuelsson...and Homer won't be playing for us this season so yeah.

If you knew anything about the wings you'd know we are notorious for keeping our talent in the minors for long periods of time. Smith has been NHL ready for years and only now is getting his first shot at a full NHL season. Has nothing to do with the caliber of the prospect and everything to do with our development philosophy.

Yakupov would be starting the season in the minors on this team. Unless your the next Pavel Datsyuk that's the way things work.

Smith wasn't NHL ready until last season, he had maturity and dedication problems until his last year at Wisconsin, and that being the case he would need at least a year at the AHL to make sure those problems were in the past.

So, no Doan, no Semin, no Suter, no Parise. Engaging or considering trading within the division where he had no chance to make a deal happen. This offseason so far has been a resounding failure for Holland. Hes so far is basically standing pat, or regressing in areas of concern on this team (namely the top 6, Samuelsson is not better than Hudler, remember, his best season was playing with 2 players that had 200 points). Even if he manages a trade, the way things are going (based upon track record of trades over the last few seasons) he will have to overpay. Holland finally gets a chance to show he can roll with the punches and sustain the team, and he sits on his ass.

And to all the slappies who defend Holland, ask yourselves 'How has this team actually improved since last season?' No baseless speculation of everyone overachieving, no unrealistic trades that you can't justify, and no saying 'this team hasn't played one game' because it played 87 games last season and regressed since then.

#2321782 ESPN Irks Me

Because its not a known fact that since Bettman gave ESPN the finger and went to Versus (now NBCsports) that ESPNs budget for hockey coverage became $43.25 in a calendar year.

#2321054 Bouwmeester opinions? Potential trades? *merged*

I'd rather see the Wings in dead last place than saddled with his terrible contract.

#2321040 Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)

Posted by Shaman464 on 22 July 2012 - 09:07 PM

One might reasonably conclude that inquiring about Weber's interest in playing here would qualify as a "shot".

Seems like he was a day late and a dollar short, asking after Philly had already all but sealed it.

#2320600 T.J. Oshie Re-Signs With St. Louis

Fire Holland!

Seriously though, Oshie is a good player and would love to have someone like him on the Wings.

#2320290 Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)

Posted by Shaman464 on 19 July 2012 - 11:04 AM

But the Wings wouldn't make this offer... having two long term contracts already on the books, it's not smart business.

They did the smart thing and tried to trade for Weber.. then they'd solve the logjam up front and signed him on their terms.

So what if they have two long term contracts? They don't have a #1 or #2 D-man, they have an amazing #3 D-man, 2 guys who are 3-4 D-men, an over paid #5 d-man and 2 kids, one who has been mediocre, the second who has yet to prove anything as a top 4 D-man in the NHL. In the league today you don't get a #1 d-man without giving them a lengthy contract. If they don't gamble on a player that fills a massive hole on the roster, they should fully expect to be the next Calgary Flames.

#2320287 With cap space to clear, do Flyers become a Wings trade partner?

Salary dump? That's Panthers music!

#2320089 Flyers sign Weber to offer sheet: 14y/$110m ($56m 1st 4yrs)

Posted by Shaman464 on 19 July 2012 - 12:56 AM

The problem is Holland is getting burned by being too conservative with his moves, and in doing so he's letting the team decline instead of taking a risk and possibly making a wrong move. There's an old saying 'Action is always better than inaction'.

The insult to injury part of this is that in spite of loss draft picks (look at the last 4 season 1st rounders the Wings have, compare them to Weber), is that his cap hit is lower than Suter's.
