All this whining about Holland standing pat and not selling the future, unbelievable. If I were Holland I'd have taken the easy road out last summer (- retiring with Lidas and moving up as president of hockey operations in the organization) and left my successor trying to fix a behind the pack team, going out as a GM legend! One at least has to love his will to fix it and leave (hopefully Stevie, Shero or Chiarelli) with a great roster to build from.
Develano has pissed away his chance to ever GM the Detroit Red Wings, with his stupid and insanely offending comments. This organization from top to bottom is and always was about being classy and you can't tell me Mr. I was happy with this comment. You try your best to threat players well and then someone of your own organization is throwing the players under the bus like nothing? Doesn't fly with me.
So of course people can critisize Holland all they want, but at least admire his will to fix things.
What? Who was the GM before Holland? Are you 12? Jimmy D has already been there and done it. he was the one that buildt this team from scratch. I guess you don't remember anything before 1998 or so.........

There is a lot of fear on this board that Holland will do little to nothing on the 1st, on the second he will say to Khan or St James 'I explored the options, there was nothing to my liking/too expensive, I will wait until later in the month to sign bargain bin players'. This will be followed by signing a couple meh players, and Holland saying 'I think this team is competitive and I like our odds, and I have cap space to use at the deadline to fix any holes'. The final act of this play would be 'well I explored all the options and the NHL is just so competitive that all the players I wanted were too expensive' and quickly followed by 'When X player gets off the DL that will be our deadline'.I hope Kenny can sign both Parise and Suter because if he doesn't then this place is going to go absolutely apes***.
We will all be screaming for Kenny to sign anyone! Just sign anyone dammit!

Embellishments are a bigger problem with the league and the system of refereeing, it's done league-wide, not something Dustin Brown solely does. I don't see that as justification for wishing injury upon him when he makes a borderline hit.
As mentioned, he's also been on the receiving end of embellishments and questionable hits/sticks, but whatever, you've invested excessive amounts of emotion into a single player for a league-wide issue .. hate away.
