I don't think Scotty was really well "liked" either for alot of the same reasons... he was very well respected and listened to though and that is what is required. Dave Lewis seemed to be opposite and had basically the same team Scotty did but crashed the team hard when it mattered.... Used to drive me insane to see Lewis on the bench emotionless and saying nothing, i wondered if he even had a mouth at times.

Babcock is proving right now just how good of a coach he is! Keep on 'em Babs!

1st season in North America, more games and travel then he's had to endure before, 1st NHL play off experience, he started on a high, exerienced some lows and he is improving with every game. Sign him, he is a keeper and he is a part of a wicked 3rd line with the potential for alot more. I'm a Brunner fan.

What an embarassment! How many mistakes can Smith make in one game? He was just awful! I have zero confidence in that guy... please someone teach him how to clear the zone, please. I think I would add Tootoo next game, probably sit Bert.

We should bench the power play units for not scoring (or even shooting the little black round thing at the meshy thing where the guy in big cushions was hanging out) with all that consecutive power play time before we bench Jimmah.

Hoss not only contributes offensively but a an amazing defensive player as well and has consistently played this way no matter what teams he is on or who he plays with... Franzen vanishes for a while, then plays some (after having "a fire lit under him") and then will vanish again and then push players from behind some and maybe give some face washes while running his mouth. To me there is no comparison between the 2... I pick Hoiss every time

Squeege is that name. He won;t know why, but he will grow to love it when the entire JLA is shouting "SQUEEGE SQUEEGE SQUEEGE" while he is beating the crap out of someone

I have a strange brain the works in progression.  So one thing leads to the next which leads to the next, and so on, until finally my thought process finds a resting place.  So here's how it worked when I read that Dekeyser needs a nickname.

 

Dekeyser -> DK -> Donky Kong -> King Kong -> Kong. 

 

So Kong it is. 

 

Edit:  This is nearly identical to the way I nicknamed my younger brother, who has been called "squeege" or "Squeege McQueen" for over two decades.  Johnny -> Dirty Johnny -> DJ -> Deege -> Squeege -> Squeege McQueen (optional).

This team is STALE. I get this taste in my mouth like I'm licking a 9V battery when I think about our team. We just don't have that "something" anymore that made us a winner. 

Our team has become too European imho. Before you lay into me hear me out. I am NOT saying we need to eliminate all foreign players or they are good for nothing. What I am saying is we need to restore a better balance. Our style of play has become too predictable and with a lower skill level its become easier to break... we get out worked, and out battled. We need more strength on at least the top 2 lines. Franzen makes me sick... to be that big and strong and have the ability to be a legit power forward and NOT do it is something he should hang his head in shame for... he's got everything needed except for the nards to make it happen. Cleary and Bert are too old. We need to add some BALLS back into our lineup. Not saying goons, not saying it will be easy to find either.... just what I feel we need to get rolling again. Even our current D could start coming together more if we were harder to play against up front. I'm sick of seeing the 1 and done junk on our power play, more muckers and dirty boys in there fighting and less of the ticky tacky crap that may have worked in the past but it making us look stupid now.

Another fire Babcock thread.... Who would we replace him with? He's aruguably the best coach in the league who has new assistant coaches, just lost 2 top 4 Defensemen (1 being one of the best of all time), Just lost one of the best powerplay specialists in the game, and who is constantly losing regular roster players to injury. How can you blame him with the revolving door of players he has to work with? We are losing alot of games due to mistakes made on the ice... the guy can't go on the ice and stop them from making stupid decisions. There are many factors to the roller coaster ride we are in for and it has nothing to do with Babcock. If we fire Babcock then we might as well get rid of Dats and Z for not scoring everygame, and we might as well fire Howard for not stopping every puck. Hell let's fire Illitch while we are at it for letting all of this happen to a team he owns. The team has some major needs that need to be addressed that Babcock as a coach cannot fill.
