#2068362 How Long has Huds got?

Posted by The Secret on 25 November 2010 - 09:03 AM

Trade Him....not Leino style. Hudler can play, he can (and will) be valuable on another team but his seat was taken when he opted to leave for more money... too bad, so sad. You leave the best org in Pro Sports for more money to come crying back and find you are no longer a good fit... Loser! I think they trade him but get something suitable in return not just trade him for the sake of trading him.

I don't find it strange at all, I find it selfish, especially when in Detroit it has mostly been team before individual. Could he have made more money signing with Tampa or Atlanta or wherever? Sure. But smart players have chosen to stay with a superior league team that has proven success versus higher salary options for the simple result of making more money elsewhere. Does Hudler think he is more important than players such as Draper, Maltby, Modano, Chelios, (and the list goes on), because of 1 years worth of production on a team laden with talent? Dumb decision by him to leave regardless. Especially since he hasn't produced as of late.

Bertuzzi was here, chose to leave for greener pastures, bounced around and was lucky enough to be brought back...he has something to offer that we currently need (skill, size and strength)... Hudler wasn't as lucky, especially to the team that brought him in an gave him his chance. To me when Hudler defected he was Filpula's equal/competitor... now Fil has a progressed and has a home and Hudler needs to prove himself all over again and hasn't done it...and more so has serious competition that has shown him up (Abbie, Cleary, Eaves, even Miller)

Yay, this rehashed argument again.

This is easily the best organization in pro hockey and possibly in all of pro sports. Players in "decline" or "too old" or even "not living up to expectation" are brought to Detroit, treated like family, given an achievable role and flourish. From this a level of Player/Organizational loyalty has developed to the point that players want to stay here, take less money to stay here and do well by staying here... Yes, this re-hashed argument again! Hudler is the rare exception that has chosen to leave for "greener pastures" only to find he just left paradise... he does not have a place here anymore. He has not yet shown why we should keep him and bring him back into the family. The Leino example is perfect... Leino wouldn't be the same player here and flourished elsewhere, like Primeau-donna did. Hudler might also and he might bring us something we can utilize! I'd risk it!

I've said it before... Hudler showed his true colours when he defected to the KHL and when he saw the grass was not greener came crawling back
I hope that loyalty is returned when he starts to play well and is then traded to some s***ty that won't ever make the playoffs.

Uh oh... do I see some Canadian, "It's our game!", chest thumping pride on the horizon? Oh goodie... this'll be good. :)

I am proud... Why not be proud of our Canadian boys? The Yankee boys play very similar and look at what a less skilled but grittier and tougher Abdelkader has done compared to a highly skilled but wussy Hudler? I'd be proud of that if I were a Yank.

...hell I'm not a American and I am proud of it. I'd even trade Hudler for another Abdelkader (even if he is Amercian ;))

Fixed. Not sure what the fact that he is Canadian had to do with it.

Being Canadian has everything to do with it... its in the blood, its in the culture

Danny is one of our only muckers... we need his style even when he isn't producing like he is now but lets hope he can continue on and show his value on the stat sheet also... Way to go Danny Boy!

#2055912 Mattias Ritola scores first NHL goal

I to the above 3 posters... I just have a different opinion. I didn't slam Holland for this, I didn't say I hated Miller and I sure didn't say that keeping Ritola was the answer to all our problems. Whats wrong with wanting to see a home grown kid get a chance? Its like you can even have a different view on this board with out getting the gears for one thing or another. I just would have liked to see what he could have done and it would have had to come at someone's expense...that someone for me would have been Miller. Its my opinion, I'm not asking you to like it.

#2053328 Goaltender interference? Nah.

No need to fret folks... its the Leafs! They could have non-calls like this all season long and still find a way to screw it all up.

I'd think I'd take Kipper over Howard.... he's been the backbone in Calgary for years. I don't think there is a goalie in the league right now that has been ridden as hard for as long a Kipper has. On a good team he would be lights out!

Is this joke ever going to get old? Even when most of Toronto is staying calm and expecting the team to come back to the pack soon, people (haters) have to crack the parade jokes.

Man, I spent most of my life in Windsor which has a very large base of the most obnoxious Leafs fans and have had to deal with a life time of stupid comments from them year in and year out.... despite the fact that Detroit is one of the most successful teams of the last 20 years and the leafs have been crap since as long as my memory goes. Wanna talk about something that is getting old is hearing these stupid comments. The Wings-Leafs rivalry is alive and well in Windsor and I am a Leafs hater because of it... Piss on the Leafs and the Habs are next in line for most of the same reason!!

I hear the city of Toronto is planning a parade for the good start they have had. I've also been told that its pretty much a done deal that they will also win the Cup this year... I guess we have next season to look forward too.

#2045845 Kirk Maltby to announce he is retiring

Posted by The Secret on 13 October 2010 - 08:47 AM

Just watched Malts give his retirement speech and got choked up along with him. Thanks for the great career and for being a part of one of the most memorable lines in Detroit. Malts is, was and always will be Red Wing and I'm glad he's taken a job within the organization to stay home where he belongs. Good luck Malts.

#2041091 Sharks cut Andreas Lilja

Posted by The Secret on 06 October 2010 - 08:42 AM

I don't think it had anything to do with money. He wanted more ice time.

Bad decision any way you look at it... coming off of a very serious injury, visa set to expire, being offered a job with a team you know and like. Bad call. Too bad, he was really winning me over as a fan before his injury too. I do think Salei, if healthy, could be a much better and cheaper replacement anyway. Good luck Lilja.
