#2479130 Hypothetical: What Coach Would You Replace Babcock With?

Posted by The Secret on 31 January 2014 - 10:16 AM

Really, Another replace the coach thread?!

Any who, The answer to this question is very easy... a no brainer really. The ONLY person suitable to replace Babcock is ME! No one else anywhere is more suitable. Watch out Babs... once word gets out your a goner! Then you will see me take this very same team to the Stanley Cup parade... and the Super Bowl parade... and what ever parade they are having this year for the Tranna Maple Leafs!!!

#2478697 Tim Thomas is a dope: It's a scientific fact.

Posted by The Secret on 29 January 2014 - 10:25 AM

Still don't see what makes him a dope but regardless the guy is a scrapper and still is a great goalie... I wouldn't mind at all if they did not resign The Monster and did sign Timmy the Tank on a one year. Thomas can still be a #1 goalie and he'd challenge Howard every step of the way. A Howard-Thomas tandem would be wicked! Like Fuhr-Moog or Hasek-Osgood

#2469075 Tailgating?

Posted by The Secret on 31 December 2013 - 09:29 AM

I went once to tailgate and game at a Michigan State game a few years back and the alumn's that were bringing us were upset that we were running late to get there at 8:30 AM.... when we got there just before 9:00 there were tents set up, BBQ's in full use, music going, TV's going, Booze going, Footballs being thrown..... the party was in full gear at 9:00AM... it was insane and soo much fun. Enjoy! Keep us posted in the festivities, you'll get some worthwhile pictures to share.... just ask kindly :) Let them know your an exotic Canadian friend and they will LOVE it (don't mention the Toronto thing though)

#2462715 Darren Helm Injured

Posted by The Secret on 10 December 2013 - 02:35 PM

Well it's not too much of a stretch for me.  I like Franzen, and the blanket criticism he receives is hardly ever warranted.  Does he have bad games sometimes?  Sure.  Is he a bad player?  Nope.  On a team that has struggled offensively for four or five years, a guy who can put up 25-29 goals is a breath of fresh air.

Franzen is far from a breath of fresh air... he gets the flack because he has everything it takes to be a true power forward but lacks the cack n balls to use it half the time. He is on a roll now and playing great but for no rhyme or reason can vanish into thin air at any time. I think there would be less complaining about him if during his goalless droughts he was a great defensive player and making an impact in other ways but he doesn't... add to the fact that Holland stayed loyal and signed up Franzen first before Hossa, when we had Hossa in our grips, and then you see where all the s*** he tales comes from.... its always warranted and always will be while he plays the way he does

#2457720 Babcock's system

Posted by The Secret on 24 November 2013 - 04:33 PM

He needs a system where the players listen to him and do whats asked of them. SHOOT THE PUCK! MAKE THE SIMPLE PLAY! A part from Babcock playing in the game and doing it for them there is only so much he can do.

I could see it now, Babcock (in the stupidest managerial move in hockey history) gets let go by Detroit today at noon and at 12:01 the coach of Tampa Bay gets fired and at 12:01:30 Babcock has a coaching job in Tampa working for Yzerman!

You can't have a Stanley Cup winning team every year and we are 22 straight years in the playoff, longest running streak in all of the major pro sports!! Let him do his job, things will straighten out OR invent the electronic remote control device that Babcock can use from the bench to electricute the desired player at the time he needs to shoot rather than pass. It can also be used to punish a player after he has given the puck to the wrong team (which we should also blame on Babcock I suppose), taken a stupid penalty, gotten hurt for an extended period of time, etc.

#2455667 Babcock performance thread

Posted by The Secret on 20 November 2013 - 10:08 AM

Give him some time. Let Babs see where his pieces work and don't. He's a winner, always has been and always will be. Might not be pretty at times but he gets the job done and he's prven that. How quickly we forget the massive changes this team has gone through in the last few seasons and we are still competitive with the ability to achieve more... Babs will figure it out. Looks at last season. There is a tonne of hockey yet to be played. If you want the Red Wings domination of old start watching the 2002 season archives... this team needs to adapt to what it has and it will. Won't be an all out Red Wings landslide anymore it will have to be done with some old school mucky grinding hockey.

#2454951 Brendan Smith

Posted by The Secret on 17 November 2013 - 09:25 PM

Not everyone can walk in and be a stand out like Dekeyser. I was one that regularly said the same thing about Ericsson that most are saying about Smith now. Ericsson took his time but is finding his ground and Smith will be the same. For now enjoy Dekeyser's success unti Smitty finds his ground.

Oh. What about that Kindl guy? 2 years ago I'd have said he was on his way out of town but he has actually finally proven some worth. Patience. It will be worth it.

#2452809 Brendan Shanahan appreciation thread

I'm with you... the whole team changed when Shanny arrived. He gave us everything we needed in a true blue Power forward. What an awesome player he was!

#2452136 Any Drew and Mike fans in LGW?

Posted by The Secret on 08 November 2013 - 12:44 PM

If you are were a Drew and Mike fan... you may not know that Mike Clark and Mike Wolters have a podcast that they are doing now that is friggin awesome. It's as close as you can get to the Drew and Mike show. Oh, and since it is a podcast they are not restricted by the FCC which opens alot of doors for hilarious stuff. Podcast format is great too because you can listen to it where and when you want and don't have to miss any of the show!

Check them out, show your support (I'm wearing my thedetroitcast sweater right now) and let them know The Secret from LGW sent you and you could be entered into a contest to win a brand new car (...nah, I made that up) but the show is great... check it out!
