#2345821 Franzen should have been at Tae Bo class during the lockout

Posted by The Secret on 24 January 2013 - 12:06 PM

I'd rather him focus on taking the body in the corners and the forecheck.

Playing hockey would be a priority for me, rather then throwing punches.

I tend to agree with you. Not everyone has the instinct or spirit to fight but he can still play like a Power Forward by finishing his checks with some authoritah, mucking in the corners and driving the net... He can to all of that, he is a big strong guy just needs to learn to play like one.

#2340528 TooToo - the lovable little Tasmanian Devil

Posted by The Secret on 16 January 2013 - 09:16 AM

Tootoo will be a great Red Wing and give us what we have been needing for some time now. He was a ***** to play against and now he he will his thing for us... similar to Chelios. Welcome Tootoo! I think there should be a ban on the Tootoo train whisles in Detroit though

Brun-O or Schnozz (He has a pretty impressive beak on him)

#2309129 Trade Ian White?

Posted by The Secret on 23 June 2012 - 08:30 AM

i just dont think hes  that valuable at all , hes a 5-6 in my eyes... time will tell

#2???? f*ck if ian white is our #2 d man then we got more problems than i thought

Hey, I know you are entitled to your opinion... hate him if will but did you watch him play at all? He was solid all around. Having White at #2 is a pretty safe option I think. As other have said, unless White was part of a package deal bringing in some big replacement parts trading him would be insane. Even if Schultz decided to sign and he earned a spot then half our D would basically be rookie's or noobs... how would that fill the gaping wounds left by Lids and Stuarts leaving and adding White to that?

#2309128 Trade Ian White?

Posted by The Secret on 23 June 2012 - 08:19 AM

i really think we should trade him now while we can get somethin decent  i think were gonna be really dissapointed this season and realize he only had a good year because of lidstrom

he was +23 this season and prior to that never went in the double digits in the last 3 seasons he played for 5 teams

I would much rather take a chance on like justin schultz and give him a  guaranteed spot to start the season ... give him a 20 game trial at the least instead of  risking losing him to another team who will guarantee him a spot , hes suppose to be a cant miss where as white i think will be gone after next year .... even if we cant land schultz id still trade white , hes highly overrated in my eyes

I first noticed White when he played against us in San Jose and thought he was a great little player. When we poicked him up I was so happy, I think White has been a fantastic addition. Low cost, high energy, gives his all, safe and for a small guy he plays bigger then some of our big guys... yes I'm looking at you Ericsson "The friendly giant". Trading White would be a dumb and pointless move imo.

#2297717 Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

He isn't complaining to the media here.  He is pointing out a reasonable fact regarding the team.  They were slow, unmotivated, and didn't seem to have much faith in themselves.

So instead of pointing this out in the media after they were dropped in the 1st round why didn't he try to change this by his play on the ice?

More consistent through out the year would be a plus not just going 3 or 4 games scoring and not scoring again for another 10-15 games

How about scoring 5 goals in a game and then vanishing into the ethers for a month or so

Deflection + Excuse!

At least when Hoss wasn't scoring he still gave his all and played great defensively. If Mule isn't scoring he is a waste of quality ice time. If he wants to have more fun show him clips of past Wings teams winning the Cup!

#2295206 So Who Do You Cheer For Now?

Wings or bust. I cheer for no other!

#2292756 How do we fix this?

Posted by The Secret on 19 April 2012 - 11:26 AM

What's going to make players like Suter and Parise want to come to Detroit? Seriously.

1. Mike Illitch
2. Mike Babcock
3. History - Being a part of a successful and storied franchise
4. 21 years in a row of being in the play offs
5. The ability to fill a needed role and become a fan favourite
6. A franchise that committed to having a successful team
7. A franchise that treats its players like family and keeps them happy enough they will take less to stay

...I can keep going

#2292007 Time to start looking for a new coaching staff

Posted by The Secret on 18 April 2012 - 06:51 AM

Nill is the one I actually saw say it on tv.  I wanted to smack him through the screen.  Holland proves it year after year by bringing in nothing but small euro puck ticklers.

esteef

I agree with you man. Holland is a master but he's also made some really crappy choices imo. Trading down in the draft to get Landon Feraro and lose a big tough kid in Carter Ashton pissed me right off. Trading a 1st round pick that could have gotten us Downie but instead brought back Quincey? Why? We need to toughen this roster up with good North American boys.

#2292000 Time to start looking for a new coaching staff

I hate to say this but it has become apparent that Mr Babcock has probably just worn out his welcome.

The stats say that other than a select few head coaches, such as Scotty, coaches tenured longer than 4 years dont win cups.  Looks as though that may be true with Babs as well.

Came to mind talking with Crimson about the team and became very apparent that our guys just dont hear him the same way anymore.  The players have a personal relationship with Babs the same way teenagers have with their parents.  Both know that even if they get yelled at they know that the consequences are pretty hollow.  The rest of the time they just dont care.

We all know that some organizations tend to replace coaches on a daily basis, we arent the Canadians or the Leafs, but look how effective it was with STL.  Hitch came in and it was night and day from word go.

I seriously think that we need leadership more than we need a new team.  The talent is there, the coaches are there to coax it from them and Babs & Co. just dont seem to be able to do that.

Right, let's get rid of the best coach in the league because the players on the ice have no heart, don't play full games, take stupid penalties and can't score for stretches (especially on the power play). He needs some fresh players on his bench that WILL hear him. Babs is a proven winner, tweak the roster leave Babs alone. Maybe ***** slap which ever coach is responsible for the power play and threaten his job!

#2288904 Must unleash the Mule!

If Mule had half of Helm's heart and 1 of his balls he'd become a true Power Forward!

#2288709 Shooter's mentality

Posted by The Secret on 16 April 2012 - 07:38 AM

Ah, yes Hossa.... Did we have him in the 2009 playoffs? I cant really remember him doing anything significant. hmmm

He is on the ice and present for more games then Franzen in my opinion... and in his times when he isn't scoring he is always there playing great defensive hockey. He was rather quiet offensively during the play offs for us, it ticked me off too, but just look at the play off he had the year before in Pittsburgh. I just see Hossa as a better all around player then Franzen, he is a shoot first player (which we need), and he works his tail off where Franzen can be absent for games and take stupid penalties.

#2262050 Just Say 'No' to Mikael Samuelsson

Posted by The Secret on 24 February 2012 - 10:51 AM

Oh please NO!

Samuelsson > Hudler all day long. Bigger, faster, and also has a good shot. If this guys healthy (havent seen him since Van traded him) and its the best option out there - do it.

Oh I hate Hudler... Hate him! But I would gladly wear a happy Hudler Jersey and do a jig so Sammy stays far far away from our line up.

PS. I'm not too worried about wearing a Hudler jersey because it will disappear (just like him) as soon as the play offs start :D
