#2292000 Time to start looking for a new coaching staff

Posted by The Secret on 18 April 2012 - 06:36 AM

I hate to say this but it has become apparent that Mr Babcock has probably just worn out his welcome.

The stats say that other than a select few head coaches, such as Scotty, coaches tenured longer than 4 years dont win cups. Looks as though that may be true with Babs as well.

Came to mind talking with Crimson about the team and became very apparent that our guys just dont hear him the same way anymore. The players have a personal relationship with Babs the same way teenagers have with their parents. Both know that even if they get yelled at they know that the consequences are pretty hollow. The rest of the time they just dont care.

We all know that some organizations tend to replace coaches on a daily basis, we arent the Canadians or the Leafs, but look how effective it was with STL. Hitch came in and it was night and day from word go.

I seriously think that we need leadership more than we need a new team. The talent is there, the coaches are there to coax it from them and Babs & Co. just dont seem to be able to do that.

Right, let's get rid of the best coach in the league because the players on the ice have no heart, don't play full games, take stupid penalties and can't score for stretches (especially on the power play). He needs some fresh players on his bench that WILL hear him. Babs is a proven winner, tweak the roster leave Babs alone. Maybe ***** slap which ever coach is responsible for the power play and threaten his job!

If Mule had half of Helm's heart and 1 of his balls he'd become a true Power Forward!

Ah, yes Hossa.... Did we have him in the 2009 playoffs? I cant really remember him doing anything significant. hmmm

He is on the ice and present for more games then Franzen in my opinion... and in his times when he isn't scoring he is always there playing great defensive hockey. He was rather quiet offensively during the play offs for us, it ticked me off too, but just look at the play off he had the year before in Pittsburgh. I just see Hossa as a better all around player then Franzen, he is a shoot first player (which we need), and he works his tail off where Franzen can be absent for games and take stupid penalties.

#2262050 Just Say 'No' to Mikael Samuelsson

Posted by The Secret on 24 February 2012 - 10:51 AM

Oh please NO!

Samuelsson > Hudler all day long. Bigger, faster, and also has a good shot. If this guys healthy (havent seen him since Van traded him) and its the best option out there - do it.

Oh I hate Hudler... Hate him! But I would gladly wear a happy Hudler Jersey and do a jig so Sammy stays far far away from our line up.

PS. I'm not too worried about wearing a Hudler jersey because it will disappear (just like him) as soon as the play offs start :D

#2259929 Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

Posted by The Secret on 21 February 2012 - 05:27 PM

not sold on this trade. hope to be wrong

I don't like the sound of this much either. I had nothing against him while he was here but this seems like alot to pay for a 5/6 D-man.

Dino Ciccarelli and Mark Recchi should also be in here somewhere

#2253633 Jeff Carter

Posted by The Secret on 08 February 2012 - 02:27 PM

If Carter wants to seriously win then being in the Detroit locker room will surely be the cure for his cancers. How could it not with the class of the team and the ownership running it. Man I remember almost vomiting when I heard we picked up Chelios... I loathed Chelios, I still remember seeing the Windsor Star with Shanahan looking uncomfortably at Chelios in the locker room. We all know how that turned out and my hate for Chelios turned into love pretty quickly. So long as we don't have to sell our future I'd give Carter a shot. He's a big kid that can score goals and I'm sure he'd be happy to be playing 2 hours away from his home town for the Wings!

Come home to Michigan and give Howie some much needed rest that the Conklin Clown can't give... Oh and don't forget to BRING OUR CUP with you!

I'm glad he has picked things up and in turn upped his trade value. I hope he is used in a trade before Invisible Jiri Hudler takes to the ice in the play offs again.

Red Wings only here... I've lived in Calgary, Montreal and now Ottawa and I have gone to see games in each city but I will NEVER wear anything but Red Wings gear. Lol, my wife is from Montreal and is a Habs fan, I won't even drink out of her Canadiens cup that she has.

#2225581 GMs to discuss the 1-3-1 forecheck

Posted by The Secret on 15 November 2011 - 05:30 PM

That's based on the presumption that the Tampa players would have done the same thing against a trap defence, and just stood there without playing the puck. If they play the trap themselves, I'm almost certain they'd be willing to at least try and attack it. I was at the home opener in Tampa, and the fans want their team to win. They may not be the oldest and wisest hockey fanbase there is, but they're still proud of their team and sell-out their arean most of the time. Playing this trap style to get some defensive stability is a lot better for them than getting beat 7-4 in their first home game, to their closest geographical rivals.

I'm not trying to get on anyone's nerves in here as I love posting about my Wings. Just from a completely logical point of view, playing a trap (although boring) is a solid defensive strategy, unlike the offensive strategy that was adopted by Philly.

You aren't getting on my nerves... we are just not seeing it the same way. I'd rather see my team play exciting hockey and lose 7-4 then adopt the rope a dope strategy and bore everyone to victory. Shows a lack of defensive creativity on the coaches part imo. Standing around in the neutral zone is not playing hockey in my eye's.

#2219778 This team screams for a trade

Last time I checked Filppula was leading the team in points...

Perfect, increases his trade value.
