#2247537 Fight During Postgame Handshake

Posted by 55fan on 20 January 2012 - 02:21 AM

Meh. Statistically any pick beyond the 3rd round isn't supposed to make the NHL.

Good thing statistics aren't carved in stone.

Go Wings!

We need to keep pushing. No letting our feet off the pedal. It's good to be at the top, but it takes as much work to stay there as it does to get there.

Weaselbritches with the hattie- just to send Dawn diving into another bottle of wine. :D

#2246297 Why don't we have a "JIM-MY JIM-MY!" chant yet?!

Posted by 55fan on 17 January 2012 - 08:17 AM

He doesn't get a "Howie Howie" chant until he beats up an insufferable, arrogant goalie at center ice as his former roommie avenges his bff's broken face.

Until then, "Jimmy, Jimmy" or "Jimmy Howard" or "James Russel Howard III" (if we can get a good clapping rhythm going) is certainly merited. His play has been fantabulous.

Ok, everyone who didn't score a goal last night, score one tonight.

On the Wings, that is. Not the Stars.

#2246047 Brad Stuart to the West Coast?

Posted by 55fan on 16 January 2012 - 05:01 PM

It seems that Stuart likes playing with Detroit and I will be sad when he leaves. I just wish his family would consider moving to MI. I always find it odd when when families won't move to where a player has to play. You would think that they would want to be where their husband and father is and not clear across the country from them.

He has a step-daughter who would be pulled away from her dad if the family moved. I thought they had moved here with him, but I guess I was wrong. At first, them staying in Cali was so she could be with both of her parents, but now that Stuie's son is getting older, I can see Stuie wanting to be with him.

I will miss him, and I hope they let him finish out the season here (barring a totally insane gotta-do trade), but if he wants to go, there really isn't anything stopping him.

I do think whoever said "trade his rights for a mid-round pick" had the best idea so far. Where ever he ends up, I wish him well. He was a good pick up for us, and has served us well.

sorry.

what on earth does that stupid pig say in that geico commercial?

I think he's the little pig that went WHEEWHEEWHEE all the way home.

At the very end he says something like, "Pure adrenalin, man." Or something like that. I want to shoot him and turn him into porkchops. With Shake n Bake. Or maybe I'll Shake him, Bake him, shoot him, and then turn him into porkchops.

Annoying little bastard.

Are you afraid he'll get Pierre cooties?

I'm worried about what he'll have to sit in. Might stain his dark suit.

Good grief. This pretty much sucks. If Chicago wins this game, I hope the JLA cleaning staff makes sure to wipe off the seat between the glass before Murph has to sit there again.

Jimmy is a hero.

Why is Patrick Kane on my TV?

Because we're playing the Blackhawks. It's a price we pay to get the Wings on tv. Don't worry. It's only temporary. He'll go away after this game.

First game I ever went to was a Hawk vs Wing game. We lived in Chicago at the time and my Dad said, " the team in the Red and White is the team we are rooting for. See that 19, he's our boy. See that 91, he is magic. " I was 10 years old at the time. My Dads funeral is today so I will be missing the game, but I hope my Dad is on Gods good side and we come out with a regulation win. That's what he'd want. Go Wings!!!!!!!!

<hugs, dear>
If the game is televised in heaven, my dad has probably invited your dad over for beer and hockey.

I'll be thinking of you today. Take care.

Did you take this picture, Kristi? You'd better be careful. Word on the street is that the league is cracking down on head shots.

Seriously, awesome pics.

#2244350 Study done on fighting in hockey

Posted by 55fan on 11 January 2012 - 03:16 PM

So teams with an enforcer in the line-up never have bad games?

No. Teams with an enforcer in the line-up have better games for five minutes 75% of the time following a fight if they were doing poorly before the fights.

Or, for the namby-pamby panty-waists out there: If the Wings ever had a day when they weren't playing well (also called "playing the Islanders"), a fight might help them for 1/12 of the game 3/4 of the time we actually do it, which translates into an average of 2.5 minutes per season as the team stands at this point.

#2244246 are we done giving conklin chances?

Posted by 55fan on 11 January 2012 - 08:13 AM

Whatever the case, Conklin isn't reliable.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nabokov as a deadline pickup. It's no doubt enormously clear to Snow that he won't be re-signing in the offseason.

I got distracted for a minute, and read "I wouldn't be surprised...Snow...as a deadline pickup".

Now that my heart has restarted, and I have rejoined this century, I too must add to the throng who feel that Conks needs a team in front of him in order to do well.

Last night just was not a good night all around. Being short Pavel did not help, and, as mentioned, the Isles seem to have our number.

Last night is just one of those games where you have to shrug it off and move on or you end up banging your head against a wall and doubting yourself.

After his last outing, I am still willing to give him another chance. I think he can do better.

That said, I'm sure glad we have Jimmy. :)
