It is painful to watch Franzen play...

#2347126 Nail Yakupov Goal Celebration.

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 26 January 2013 - 09:16 AM

How can anyone have a problem with this? The guy plays with energy and excitement and was ecstatic he scored to tied the game they would have lost with 4 seconds left. From a Wings perspective, when was the last time we saw a guy this happy he scored? Maybe if Franzen was this excited every time he scored i would respect him more lol. In all seriousness though, it was a big goal that required some skill with practically no time left. I'd be more upset if he brushed it off as no big deal and went straight to the bench.

Mick was saying earlier he originally asked to be called Brunner... but has now asked them to pronounce it Brewner...  I think... or maybe I got it reversed now. lol

haha i'll call him whatever he wants if he keeps putting the puck in the net lol, i just hate sounding like an unintelligent fan when talking about him so i'd like to know how he pronounces it haha

#2345820 New lines going into Friday (not speculation)

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 24 January 2013 - 12:06 PM

I like that first line. If i remember correctly Bert and Dats had some awesome chemistry last season. I was really worried that they were ganna demote Bertuzzi to a 3rd line role, but with the lack of top 6 talent on the team he'd have to be up there so I'm pretty excited for tomorrows game...well minus the whole no defense thing...

#2312289 Still no decision from Suter. Speculation abounds.

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 01 July 2012 - 11:59 PM

I almost hate saying this out loud, but to me, it sounds like Suter is coming to Detroit. Holland has made 3 forward signings and hasn't even hinted at a Defensemen. He wouldn't of missed out on Dmen today if he didn't have a feeling Suter was going to sign here. Just sounds like Holland has all his ducks in a row and Suter is on his way here. We still have a ton of cap space even if we throw the bank and Suter, which tells me Holland isn't done upfront either. Keeping cap space incase Parise comes here too. If not, than we have a ton of forwards and cap space we can use to make a trade for a top 6 guy. Possibly a Bobby Ryan or even a Nash trade if the price isn't to steep. Holland has put himself in a situation that allows him infinite possibilities.

Im one of those sammy "haters", as silly as it sounds I just hate his face.  Just like in step brothers.  POW.

I'm sorry, are you saying POW?

#2259860 Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 21 February 2012 - 04:45 PM

Am i missing something here? How are people not more upset by this trade? I mean i know that he has improved since he left here getting to play more minutes elsewhere, but i just don't see how he is worth a 1st round pick. I know that the draft is a craps shoot and you can bust big time in the first round, especially late in the first round like we are projected to be but still, how is this not a bigger concern to people? We have so few early picks usually anyways, and to just give up our first rounder to get quincey back kind of bugs me. He may help out on the blue line and give us another guy for our 2nd PP unit, but was he worth a first rounder?

Also, does this deal make anyone else think that Holland couldn't make a deal for anyone else better? And he kind of jumped on it just to fill the void with the best he could? Should we not expect any other upgrades before the 27th? I mean he basically sent away our first round draft pick which i was hoping was going to be used in a package along with a player or two to land someone bigger at the deadline. Now all we have left as trade bait are our own roster players that most believe teams are interested in, and our few exceptional prospects that teams would find appealing but are players we shouldn't really part with. Im confused, upset and perplexed by this trade.

Am i the only one??

#2259658 Cherry rips Holland

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 21 February 2012 - 12:00 PM

I agree with the whole sentiment that Detroit doesnt need a goon and could use another guy who can play a bit and be tough but are you forgetting the team Cherry is in love with? The bruins, to say he wouldnt allow American teams isnt true at all.

I dont think the wings are softer then a few teams out there, but they are definitely soft and could use another Abdelkader in the lineup.

PS isnt it nice to see Abdelkader manning up now and actually scrapping? 5 fights now, probably end up with 6 or 7 before the year is done and hes getting a lot better at it too

I like the Abs has stepped up in the role he's apparently been assigned, but i also think that he has disappeared in every other aspect of the game. In years prior, he always played physical but didn't fight a whole lot. He had on offensive side and played well with the puck, but i feel that he's gone backwards in most categories and seems to try and be making up for it by filling the gritty role that we have such a huge void for. Does anyone else see that? Or am i just blinded by how well everyone else is playing that I'm just complaining to complain here?

#2250555 Short Datsyuk Interview

Still can't understand half the things he says. I does seem like he understands the language really well, can process and answer questions quickly like its second nature now, just wish he could speak it a little more clear lol. However, he can speak gibberish for all i care as long as he keeps playing like he does.

#2249040 Time for my Cleary update.

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 24 January 2012 - 04:51 PM

I know my hate for Dan Cleary seems to get under a lot of Cleary lover's skin here. To me he is worthless I've been saying it for a while. So at 49 games on the books, lets see what he has done.
10 goals
11 assists

On a world class team. He's a horrible skater, injured often, and is completely worthless especially for how much he is making this year (2.8 million) Keep in mind Zetterberg's cap hit is 6 million.

So I pose this question again, without Crimson trolling me. How many of you would like to see Cleary gone at the trade deadline this year? At this point I'd trade him for a washing machine just to get him off and Mursak on.

Sometimes i wonder if i watch the same games that others are watching. 1) I don't find cleary to be a horrible skater. He may not be the fastest but he skates hard. He goes into the corners and tries to come out with the puck. He gets back on defense and plays a pretty good defensive forward role. 2) I don't see how he is completely worthless? You just stated that the guy has 10 goals and 11 assists and followed it up by calling him worthless? He's ganna net you 15-20 goals and probably 25-30 assists playing mostly 3rd line minutes. Thats 40-50 points...Ill take that all day from a guy who is also defensively responsible and willing to play a gritty game in the corners.

#2243377 Marchand Suspended 5 games

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 09 January 2012 - 12:04 AM

man when did the league become so soft?  I don't want to see anyone get hurt, don't get me wrong, but this is hockey. Wasn't a hit to the head, wasn't a blatant cheap shot in my mind. Protecting himself. Was Salo going for a huge hit? maybe not. But was Marchand suppose to just take the hit? To me, thats a good hockey play, kept his head up and protected himself. Call me a Marchand sloppy all you want, but don't see much wrong with the hit. a few years ago this wouldn't even be on the radar or up for discussion.

#2211641 10/2 Exhibition GDT: Pittsburgh Penguins at Red Wings

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 02 October 2011 - 05:00 PM

Nyquist likely won't make the team, because he would be spending some/most of the games in the press-box. Therefore, his development is better served by playing a lot of minutes in the AHL. IMO he only makes this team at the expense of Hudler, which is unlikely.

Has there been a leak as to what the lines are going to look like come friday? Like i said earlier i though with the injury to mursak there was ganna be a few openings on the roster and am just wondering as to who is ganna get them.

#2209600 9/25 Pre-Season GDT: Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 25 September 2011 - 05:25 PM

It's good to catch preseason games so i can adjust to all the new guys and their numbers.

Like Mick said, I keep thinking Maltby's out there.

Whichever Wings player that just was, PLEASE don't go don't to block shots in the preseason.

Not only does seeing that number remind me of Maltby, but i also cant help but root for White to become a great player and fan favorite for the Wings since he is wearing that number. With that said, i still get an icky feeling seeing the 18 without Maltby over it...I'll root for White as long as he does not disgrace the number haha. Maltby may not be a hall of famer, but hes royalty in my book and deserves a great player to take over his number haha

#2203931 Rick Rypien found dead

Posted by Hank Dats 'N Homer on 15 August 2011 - 09:59 PM

Thats terrible news. Death is always a sad thing especially when it comes to a person as young as he was. To hear it is a possible suicide is even worse. As fans of the game and of these players who are payed millions to play a game we all love, its hard for us to understand how these people can be depressed or affected by mental illnesses, but at the end of the day, no matter how much we idolize our athletes, they are just regular people like all of us and arent unbreakable like we all rather believe. Its sad to see something like that if it was infact a suicide. My prayers are with him and his family and i wish his death could have been prevented. Mental illnesses like depression are something i feel we can all relate to at some points in our lives and i wish he  could have found the help he needed before it came to this.
