#2347482 PK Subban

2.5 x 2 is a lowball, period. most fans of the canadiens and other teams agree.

you're the odd one out, here.

Looking at the fan responses at TSN - I'm actually in the majority...I honestly haven't seen anyone suggest that Subban's worth more than what the rumoured offer by Habs GM Marc Bergevin.

Not sure if it's already been covered, but how can they be $2.5-3M apart? What is Montreal offering and/or how much does PK think he's worth?

Given the minutes he plays, points he puts up, plays in all situations, decently physical, decent shot blocker...got to think Montreal is offering at least $3.5-4M. Does he think he's worth $6-7M? Or are the Habs just really low-balling?

Assuming he's not actually insane in his demands, I'd like to get him. But I'd assume Montreal would want an NHL defenseman in return, and we don't have any to spare. Doubt they'd take Lashoff.

P.K. wants Doughty money. He wants a 6-7 year term for $6-$7 million a season.

That's my take as well.

Long-term big $$$ that others have earned where as in his 2 seasons PK thinks he's Norris Trophy material...If he had any common sense, or modesty - he'd work out a 2 yr deal, and then demand the big $$$ if he were to show improvement in this short season, and next.

As much as I like him - I can see him being a cancer in any locker room.

TSN was discussing that probably Subban is going to get traded. Dunno know if Subban solves any of our problems however he is young and has loads of potential. Asking price will be high I'm sure...

Subban getting moved is a distinct possibility since there's a shortage of "quality" Dmen throughout the league, and the Habs could possibly score big on what Subban could bring in return.

Not to mention he is a big spot-picking doucher.

I for one have always like Subban, and thought he could become a top 2 pairing Dman.

With that being said - he has come across as a doucher from time to time while on the ice, and now he's becomming a doucher off the ice with this contract squabble.

He's only been in the "bigs" for a few seasons; he wants to get the long term contract with big $$$ as though he just won the Norris Trophy...Mind you this is his stance that he's taking with Montreal being his favorite team to watch while growing up...Just think how he'd act if it wasn't the Habs?

Gotta say as much as I like his ability - the doucher factor is too strong with this one.

I don't want to make it seem like panic mode. but we need to add a top 4 guy to our group. its pretty evident through 2 periods that our d isn't just under performing, its just outmatched. quincey isn't who we thought he was and smith isn't jesus on skates.

Tatar and Nyquist are PPG in AHL. Definitely ready to be called up at this point it almost sickens me to see them down. If we played some players like this with potential they could possibly make others expendable and we could have trade bait finally. Nothing of worth comes from running the wheels off Bert, Cleary, and Sammy. We get nothing of value from them for the future.

Id rather see the young guns make a lot of mistakes and us get bounced in round 1 than bert and sammy suck and us get bounced in rnd 1.

Nothing against either Bert, or Sammy, but now is the time to see what these early 20 somethings have to offer in the Motor City.

Big Rig will be paired with Kronner on 1st line D. Smith and Quincey will be 2nd pair, while White and Colo/Kindl take the third tier

As long as Cola is healthy (crosses fingers) - he'll be paired with White, and Kindl will sit...Hopefully.

From last pick at forward position, to scratch at D, to lost 6th pairing D, to decent pker 4th position D, to fairly paid 3rd D, to decent top 2 D man. All the while taking a beating from fans for not being Jiri Fischer. Ive thrown as many remotes through drywall as the next guy watching this guy's blunders over the last 5 years, but I gotta give him his props now. Well done, big rig.

$5 says in 6 to 8 weeks from now you'll be singing a different tune.

He's nothing special.

Especially Abdelkader and his "supposed" boxing lessons from several offseasons ago.

Wasn't he the punching bag?

Wings are looking for a defenseman, Sergei Fedorov is thinking of making a comeback as a player. Go with what you know Kenny! :eh:

Pardon my ignorance, but are you serious about Feds wanting to return to the NHL?

If so.....If I were Holland - I'd def offer Feds a camp invite.....That guy was amazing when playing on our blueline; a 4th forward on the rush, and a guy capable of breaking up a play at any given time.....Something tells me he might've won a Norris Trophy, or two had he stayed back there.

How about we see how he performs in this shortened season shall we?

#2339061 Would you trade Jimmy Howard for an elite forward/defenseman?

Posted by F.Michael on 10 January 2013 - 01:36 PM

I would make the trade - however only if newly signed goalie Jonas Gustavsson can overcome the nightmare he suffered while a Maple Leaf, and be 100% healthy, and be capable of putting up similar numbers as J-Ho.

Hard to say. Does the "elite" defensemen/forward also come with an "elite" contract? If so, it doesn't really make sense. But if you take the money out of it, sure, I'd trade Jimmy for Stamkos.

Stamkos as a Red Wing would be awesome!

However if Stevie Y is gonna part with any of his high priced forwards - it'll probably be Vincent Lecavalier.

#2338635 Now What Can the NHL Do For You, the Fans

Posted by F.Michael on 08 January 2013 - 06:43 PM

No way in hell they give us free center ice, although it had better be half price for a shortened season. Either way i will pay for it because i'm a hardcore fan and it's the only way i get to see all the Wings games.

I'm in the same boat my friend.

I've missed out on half the season...I'll be honest - unlike many I won't show my displeasure by not watching games, or not buying merchandise...I've been a fan of the game of hockey, and the Detroit Red Wings for many years...Like the child who draws on the wall with crayons - you're frustrated, but you get over it, and embrace/cherish them...I will do the same with the NHL.

#2338362 2013 BlueAdams Where Are You, Line Thread

Posted by F.Michael on 07 January 2013 - 08:31 PM

Are there lots of guys on our roster, or in the league for that matter, who have the same size as Bert with more talent and work ethic. As a matter of fact where does this belief that he's not talented or doesn't work hard come from? I can recall multiple interviews in which Babcock lauds Bertuzzi's work ethic.

Bert might have a good work ethic, but so did Chelios, and just like Chelios - Bert is on his last legs (at least in my opinion), and as GMR has already mentioned - if ya can't get anything more than 38 pts on a top Red Wings line - well that's not saying much.

Want my bloody honest opinion?.....I'd rather have that lil'nutty bastard Tootoo out there instead of Bert, or Sammy...He's more physical than the other 2 combined, and he drives to the net like a street vagrant diving on a half-eaten Tim Horton's apple fritter.

#2338147 Zetterberg named Captain, 36th Captain in Red Wings History

Posted by F.Michael on 07 January 2013 - 10:21 AM

I am going to go with the simple fact that Daysuk's English is atrocious, seemingly having never made a solid effort to learn the language of the country he has been playing in for so long. A bit off-topic, and I love Datsyuk in general don't get me wrong, but I am slightly offended at his horrible English. I think if he had even passively tried to pick up English he would be fairly fluent by now, considering how long he has been here. It makes me think he must have made a conscious effort to avoid learning it, to still be so horrible...

That... and he's older and would like to go back to Russian. We will presumably get a few more solid years of captaincy out of Z.

Ah - good points.

I remember Feds picked up English quite well, but I agree - Dats can get by, but doesn't appear overly comfortable...For some insane reason many Swedes around the NHL (excluding our beloved Homer - joking) speak English with very little accent.

My 2nd language is limited to a menu at a Mexican restaurant
