#2482538 Jimmy Howard's New Olympic Mask

Seems like a lot of work and money dropped on something that will never be used.

#2482536 Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

Do you think the penguins would trade Shero for Holland straight up? We need a GM with balls to pull the trigger on a deal.

Still bugging you that the Pens just got Spencer Machacek?

#2481533 Steven Stamkos will not play for Team Canada at the Sochi Olympics.

Posted by stillwater on 05 February 2014 - 05:20 PM

Stevie what the f*** are you doing ? First passing on MSL and now declining Stamkos after his amazing rehab? I don't get it.

Feeling so sorry for the poor kid he did everything in his powers, Stevie you are the GM of team Canada overrule them for crying out loud.

Serenity now!

He's injured.

#2481471 NHL may rethink Sochi

If only they had some time to plan for this Olympics. I can't believe they told them last week that this is where the games were going to be.

Then we cancel each other out.

Well done.

#2480395 The NHL reffing affecting the game

Posted by stillwater on 02 February 2014 - 04:02 PM

There's no crying in hockey and I certainly don't believe in any referee bias. They miss things and sometimes let things go, but I don't believe it's based on bias.

Smith was called in OT because his trip directly led to (or would have led to) a Wings scoring chance.

You don't have to like it.

Btw our first game vs the caps they had a power play in over time. Hmm weird....

The Red Wings had a PP in overtime in that game as well.

The Axe would certainly be devastated.

There was that one time when he ... nope, that was someone else.

The Wings will really miss his ability to ... wait, I'll think of something sooner or later.

#2479230 Injury Updates

Posted by stillwater on 31 January 2014 - 03:35 PM

Z is the captain of this team - Stevie set the precedent for sucking it up. Datsyuk has the pressure of being team captain for the home team of the olympics and likely playing one of his last olympics - I'd say they are in different positions even if they had the same injury even though they don't.

Do you have any specifics on either player's injury? You seem to be suggesting that Datsyuk is saving himself for playing for Russia rather than the team he's paid to play for ... well, because he's the captain ... even though Zetterberg is also an Olympic Captain.

Is Steven Stamkos doing the same? On Yzerman's team?

#2478985 Hypothetical: What Coach Would You Replace Babcock With?

Posted by stillwater on 30 January 2014 - 04:03 PM

The thread title is misleading. No way Babcock gets fired this season.

#2478965 Tim Thomas is a dope: It's a scientific fact.

"At that time I really wasn't thinking about money," he said. "I was doing what I thought was the best thing for my family and for myself, and ultimately it was. Not only did the year off give me a renewed life for hockey, just being at home and being a parent to my kids and developing a relationship with my children is much greater and stronger now than it was before that year off.

"I mean, I had a good relationship, don't get me wrong. I was a dad, but when you're constantly on the road and so focused, I hadn't developed [that relationship] yet and they were at critical ages. My son was just turning 7 and my daughter was 8 and those are critical ages, I think, to really develop a relationship with your kids before they get too old. That ended up happening over the year off, so that was one of the great benefits."

#2478950 The Hudler Factor

Posted by stillwater on 30 January 2014 - 01:52 PM

Hudler would only be one more thing to complain about. Don't miss him at all. The Flames can have him.

It must be pathetic to be a Flames fan, when Hudler is one of the things you puff your chest out about.

#2475361 Would you trade Jimmy for a top pairing dman?

Posted by stillwater on 22 January 2014 - 01:37 PM

When you bring logic into things, it kind of screws up the discussion.

Good job!
