Our friend @HockeyyInsiderr lists anti-lockout teams...

10 October 2012 - 03:16 PM

Hockeyy Insiderr@HockeyyInsiderr

List of teams whose owners are putting pressure on Bettman to STOP the lockout: #Sabres #RedWings #Habs #Flyers #NYRangersand maybe more!

Interesting tweet, even if he usually is full of you-know-what. I think even before the lockout most knew the owners who weren't really in it for a work shortage, mainly the people who don't mind spending money on their teams...

He then went on to say...

Hockeyy Insiderr@HockeyyInsiderr

The 5 teams against the lockout have been #CONFIRMED to me by various NHL and NHLPA sources. There are a lot more, but unconfirmed yet.

...which I take as being the aforementioned 'you-know-what' as NHL sources would never release a list of owners against the lockout... you know... the whole, making them look bad thing? But hey, interesting points nonetheless.

Monster All Padded Up...

05 September 2012 - 04:59 PM

Since there isn't much going on (still), thought I'd put up this picture that was just shared by the Detroit Red Wings Facebook...

Monster sure looks good in the red and white, and I have to say those pads look sweet. Simple, crisp white. Like an Ice Monster :) Excited for the new season when I see things like this.

Does Babcock walk?

19 July 2012 - 12:11 PM

With the spate of Free Agents seemingly passing us by/the perceived inactivity by Holland RE: preparing for Lidstrom's departure, does anyone see Babcock walking? I doubt he does as he's been a big part of shaping this team and working with them to create pretty much HIS system here. But he's got to be pissed now. As far as I know from mainly rumour surrounding forums such as this one, he doesn't like it much when he says he needs a piece or two and the management say we're all good so can you see this, or another such situation soon, as being the final push towards the door?

He is probably the premier head coach in the league and could walk into any other team, so maybe he does soon?

Just what I happened to think of when I heard the Weber news, because if I'm pissed that we've once again missed out on a guy that was supposed to be at the top of our list, imagine how he feels having to coach...

Mike Modano pondering comeback?

17 July 2012 - 03:41 PM

Didn't see this anywhere else so thought I'd post it.

Shame he didn't have the best of times with us but was really pleased when he joined. Just wish it could have gone better for him. Still think he might be able to give something to a team, especially with a few kids on it.

Thoughts?

NHL.com Video displays biggest hits of the season

11 July 2012 - 06:38 PM

On the NHL.com homepage their video section is showing the top hits from the last season. Safe to say, they're all good yet I was sad to see that after about 50% of the hits shown (probably even more) someone felt the need to try and drop the gloves and beat seven shade out of the hitter. It actually made me sad. Whilst most seemed to be targeting Phaneuf probably because no one really likes him, all of his hits were good, clean hits that had no reason (apart from him being Dion Phaneuf) for retaliation. Beyond that I noticed that pretty much every time a Boston player was hit clean anywhere on the ice a teammate would come along and try to retaliate, even to the point where a player makes a good clean hit and Caron and Campbell just start cross checking him when he's sitting on the ice (strangely again I think it was Phaneuf... that boy can't keep out of trouble). Bergeron even does it as well. Then when a Boston player makes a hit they feel some sort of injustice at opposition players retaliating?!

Much like Chris Neil who seems to think only he is allowed to retaliate after a hit.

There are some real beauties of hits on there, I'll try to link it in below, but it saddened me to see how many people were trying the fisty-cuffs after good, clean, hockey hits :(

LINK: http://video.nhl.com...154687&lang=en5 I think it might start about a 1/3rd of the way in for some reason but it's easy to navigate really
