#2135008 Why I don't want to play LA in the first round

Maybe Jesus made the puck not go in. Remember Jesus saves?

What if Nashville stays the 7 seed? We can't be them to save our lives.

They could also be 8th

Please pin the loss on Howard.

No we aren't allowed to say bad stuff about Howard.

#2130111 "rebuilding mode..." What?

The only thing the Wings are going to be rebuilding is the ceiling on the Joe so it can fit more banners.

#2129501 Next year could be big for the NHL

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 12 March 2011 - 12:39 PM

As far as the best player in the league being out is concerned, I'm pretty sure Pavel came back a while ago.

In a way this kind of makes me sad because the Lions were showing some good potential at the end of last season so I was thinking this could have been a good year for them.

#2128590 NHL could lose Air Canada sponsorship over headshots

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 10 March 2011 - 06:06 PM

I'm confused as to why everyone is applauding this. Do you really want a corporation having this much control over how the league is run? This is like a mother telling her teenage son "do this or I'm taking away your allowance." This is something the LEAGUE needs to address, not corporations.

Oh and for the record....

How long have headshots been a problem in the league?

And when did Air Canada suddenly become concerned with them?

Mothers do not HAVE to give their teenage kids allowances, especially if the kid does something wrong or gets in any kind of trouble. Say the kid is failing all his classes. Then the mother can tell him that she will not be giving him allowance until he gets his grades up. It's the same for corporate sponsors. Air Canada does not HAVE to continue to support the NHL if the league does something they don't like. Air Canada is allowed to tell the league that they will continue to support the NHL only if they address and fix the issue.

#2099508 Crosby on strike

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 18 January 2011 - 05:49 PM

This thread isn't meant to complain about Crosby, so all the people complaining about our complaining can stop. If the title was "___(some other player)____ boycotts all star game" and we wanted to discuss it, does it make us obsessed with that player as well? It's an interesting story. And no one is forcing you to read. Just ignore it.

#2099075 THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG

I know this guy's an idiot but Z will not be punished so why bother worrying about it?

#2082078 Modano hopes to return in March

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 20 December 2010 - 05:54 PM

Hopefully he comes back no later than that. I was so excited to see Modano play for Detroit, and it's really sad that he had to get injured this one year by some freak thing that happened.

#2082075 I'm Boycotting the Winter Classic...

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 20 December 2010 - 05:47 PM

A team I can't stand is playing in the Winter Classic while my Spartans are playing in a bowl game. Of course I'm gonna support my school over them. The only time I didn't was when the Wings were in the Winter Classic.

The New York Yankees are the Detroit Red Wings of baseball.

#2044793 Wisniewski makes obscene gesture towards Avery

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 12 October 2010 - 01:32 PM

Some people have a hard time understanding what goes on in a game and see it as being so terrible when they've never played the game themselves.

Being a hockey player doesn't automatically make you right, by the way. All sports involve adrenaline and emotions, but you don't see stuff like this in basketball or football. I have played on sports teams before, and I'm sure almost everyone here has at some point. We know what it's like when an opponent gets under your skin. But we also know that people are watching. If I played a sport on TV professionally, I would have to watch my actions because this is not just sports we are dealing with, but the entire media as well.

So as for your above statement, yes I understand what goes on in a game. Hockey is not the only sport where you get really pissed off at your opponents, and you are not the only one that knows anything about sports and emotion. We all know what it's like. But sometimes you need to control yourself on TV. TV is not the same as a beer league or school.

Personally, I think this should be suspended. Only because this is on TV for all of the little kids to watch and start copying. If a guy in a beer league did it, however, I would have no problem. This is also why players can't swear to the media or get suspended for saying things like "sloppy seconds." Even though personally I think this is worse than sloppy seconds.

Still funny though. But it's not for everyone to see.

#2033259 Devils fined and have 2 draft picks taken

Posted by Lovin Jiri Fischer on 14 September 2010 - 12:53 PM

All of this is making me wonder if more happened than the Devils and the NHL is letting on, just a thought.

The whole length and money of the 1st contract was BS, the 2nd one is really not any better, the whole I want to play for NJ yet I give you X amount of days to decide or otherwise I am going to the KHL, blah blah blah.

Not positive, but there was "talk" on when Hossa signed his deal that he was going to retire early or something along those lines. League looked into that.

Maybe the NHL is just getting effing tired of being yanked around to some degree (not taking their side here) and is making an example out of them.

Let NJ have Kovy and his stupid contract so we do not lose him to the KHL, but it will cost ya while basically saying to all the rest of the teams, do not pull this kind of crap and if you do it, see what will happen

Hmmm...poor NHL. Get rid of the cap then.
