#2256058 2/12 GDT : Flyers 3 at Red Wings 4

True. Some points in favor of this era, however, is not only the parity within the system but the speed of the game.

But the Flyers had to contend with Montreal and Boston in their era.

The league is, however, more competitive today. That's why I said this streak is pretty impressive in this day and age, even if shootout victories are involved.

In this day and age, it's impressive for any team to win 20 in a row at home. And we have a chance to add to it.

However, I think it's fair to point out that the '76 Flyers played before there were overtimes, let alone shootouts. They won 20 in a row at home in "regulation". Of course I'll get negged for this post, but I like hockey history and think it's important to point that out. Same thing with Brodeur breaking Parent's wins in a season record. The shootout has put a different spin on records.

Lastly, I've never been a big believer in needing home ice, but this year it might be more important than ever before. The Wings are unbeatable at home but very average on the road. They need to keep rolling and secure first in the West.

10 game winning goals for Franzen.

LeftWinger will like that.

I hope Max Talbot gets raped by homosexual werewolves with STD's.

19 in a row is pretty good...I'd take another trip to the playoffs over 20 home wins in a row.

Still lots of time to take the game over. We are getting chances...need to start making them count.

We'll have at least 3 more PPs. And get 2 goals out them.

Right, because winning this game increases our chances of missing the playoffs somehow.

I think Schenn had dropped the gloves but nothing came of it.

Didn't he get embarrassed by Kovalchuk last week?

Our winning streak is in some jeopardy now.

McDonald with two boneheaded plays leading to goals.

Franzen doesn't like black people apparently.

Is it just me, or is Engblom really blowing the Wings tonight?

I never knew he liked our team this much.

#2255252 The Abdelkader hate

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 11 February 2012 - 02:42 PM

As I've said before, I liked him better when he was first called up and tried to hit everything that moved. He's not a bad player for us, but we can get a better version of Abdelkader easily.

And I'm still upset about his 0 points in 11 playoff games last season and all the dumb penalties he took.

Bottom line for me, is that other than Helm, none of our 4th liners are guys I "absolutely" think we need to keep long term. If we keep Abby, so be it, and if not, we can replace him just fine.

#2254795 What Ken Holland should do at the deadline

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 10 February 2012 - 07:00 PM

Hudler: 54gp 17g 34pts 15:05 min/game 22.4%shooting 11 blks 33 hits 5'10" 186lbs $2,875,000 cap hit
Semin: 50gp 14g 33pts 16:45 min/game 13.5%shooting 12 blks 24 hits 6'2" 209lbs $6,700,000 cap hit

It speaks volumes about just how much is wrong with Semin right now that he's neck and neck with a midget getting 2nd/3rd line mins.

So is Semin scoring more than Hudler? No. Producing more in fewer mins? No. Shooting better? No. Hitting more? No. More talented? Yes. Signed next season? No.

Honestly it's arguable he'd even be more than a lateral move if we're comparing each player's output this season.

And Semin's playoff play? Yikes... 0g 2a in 7gp two years ago, 4g 2a in 9gp last year.

So basically you want to trade Hudler for a guy making more than anyone else on the Wings but producing less offence than Hudler. AND you want to throw tons of other s*** in the deal too like one of our top prospects (Tatar). From Washington's prespective they get guy who can produce as much as Semin in less ice time PLUS $3,825,000 in cap relief (noting that Washington has$0 in cap space right this season).

Holland would have to be a meth addict to make that trade.

lol

In all fairness, Zetterberg's numbers are crappy this year too. Same as Ovechkin. That doesn't mean those guys are worse than Filppula, who's putting up better stats per icetime.

So we'll finally have the toughness that so many posters here have been clamoring for.

:hehe:

#2254609 Red Wings hope Winter Classic can persuade Nicklas Lidstrom to return

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 10 February 2012 - 10:41 AM

I'm just glad he's not a Forsberg type guy, or else he'd come back and "just" play in that one game.

I'm starting to lean in him returning as well. But you never know.

#2254608 Will there be an impact trade by the wings?

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 10 February 2012 - 10:39 AM

According to LeBrun, Garth Snow's saying he's not thinking of trading Nabokov.

Another target off the board apparently.

I didn't know that Lebron followed hockey.
