#2238365 Jimmy Howard - "Iím just sick and tired of getting run over.

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 22 December 2011 - 03:59 PM

WTF happened to Abby? He used to hit people and fight the odd time and just be a pain in the butt. I think that Jimmy will be ran over more now that other teams know he can get rattled and not one player on the Wings will do a damn thing about it. Shame on them.

I'd sure like to know.

#2238330 Stay classy Kesler

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 22 December 2011 - 01:24 PM

Injuries are a part of the game, but injuries from fighting are avoidable.

Sure, by running away from Ryan Kesler.

But it just doesn't look good for him and makes the team look bad. Kronwall shouldn't be afraid of Kesler.

I hate Kesler and his behavior, but I have nothing against him challenging Kronwall to back up his hit. It was a questionable hit and he did leave his feet somewhat. Kronwall shouldn't be afraid of obliging Kesler there.

And don't compare him to Scott Stevens. Stevens had more than his share of fights throughout his career, especially in his prime.

I don't expect or want Kronwall to drop his gloves a lot, but I don't want to see him skating away from Ryan Kesler either.

Boy if I were a Red Wing I would want to pound Keslers face in.

Our powerplay will pound all the faces.

This show is a joke for not covering Andreas Lilja.

Guy has pulled more ***** than the rest of the team combined, yet he can't get one second of airtime.

Nice going HBO. They'd rather cover that idiot Talbot apparently.

#2237204 Chicago Blackhawks

Here's the 5 ganme win streak; They beat the Islanders in OT, San Jose in OT, Minnesota in a shootout,Anaheim and Calgary in regulation. 2 regulation wins against non-playoff teams, an OT win against another non-playoff team, an OT win against the Sharks and a shootout win against Minny. I'm not impressed

We couldn't beat Minny or San Jose this season at all, so I wouldn't be talking.

A winning streak is a winning streak. This isn't college basketball you know.

#2237046 Is Minnesota for real?

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 18 December 2011 - 12:39 PM

Heatley has scored like 5 goals in his last 30 playoffs games or something.

They have a no-name defense.

They've never done squat in the playoffs.

I don't think they're a threat to the top teams in the West. And it would be a disaster to the NHL if this boring ass team was a threat and somehow made the Finals.

Actually, the Flames haven't been a decent team since Sutter was the coach. He's a horrible GM, but he's a good coach. Took a Calgary team with no talent.. I repeat no talent, to the Cup finals. We'll see if his style can still work 5 years later, at the very least he'll kick some ass on that team.

But LA can go f*** themselves, Ericsson needs to crosscheck Westgarth in the teeth.

Westgarth would kill Ericsson.

#2236795 Turris speculation

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 17 December 2011 - 07:33 PM

Hudler is on pace to basically be the player we wanted him to be last season. I don't get all the complaining about him. I didn't calculate the math exactly, but isn't he on pace for 55-65ish points?

Because he's horribly inconsistent. For every 10 games where he puts up points, he goes 10 more where he isn't even visible on the ice.

He doesn't bring it every night. His inconsistencies have been even more pathetic in the last few playoffs he's played in.

I agree with some people about him taking Hudler's spot. No offense. Just not a big Hudler fan. Trying him out for a few couldn't hurt.

"No offense" is right.

That's why Hudler should be moved.

#2236712 Mike Babcock praises Red Wings' physical game

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 17 December 2011 - 03:18 PM

You got negged for a reasonable and well thought out post, which is ridiculous. I'm guessing because you think the Wings need to be more physical? or mentioned Tootoo?

I wouldn't ever want Tootoo on the Wings, but agree in general.

Too many people on LGW don't like the idea of any player being moved.

Seems like a bunch of fanboy slappies that would rather lose in the 2nd round with this roster than win the Cup with a few new players being added in return for some current ones. Apparently, everyone outside of Ericsson and Hudler are untouchable. How dare any poster propose a reasonable idea about moving some people?

#2235946 Can Conner reasonably be sent down?

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 14 December 2011 - 06:35 PM

He's played well, but how many undersized forwards should we keep in our bottom 6?

Hudler, Mursak, Helm and Connor. Can you see those guys wearing a bigger team down physically in a seven game playoff series? If they have a bigger forward there to complement them they do, but not if they're all dressed together at the same time.

Someone is gonna have to sit out or be traded (Hudler).

15,000th post. :siren: :!: :yowza:

Pens defense is making us look silly right now. Reminding me of the 2009 Finals.

Wings are gonna have to dig deep and actually dump pucks in and win board battles. We're not playing the Jets tonight. That fancy s*** isn't going to work every shift.

#2235182 Mike Commodore

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 12 December 2011 - 11:21 PM

i think kindl has played very well both statistically for a 6th dman and by watching him play and make good things happen in both ends. under no circumstance should he sit any time soon. i do think ericsson could use a couple games on the pine to try and get his head straight. he has been pretty underwhelming so far this year.

personally, i am fine with commodore sitting until needed. he is a veteran; its not as if he can't step in tomorrow and know what he's doing. and while his legs may not be there to start, its not as if speed and agility were ever his strong suit. thats why you bring in veterans like him; they can step in at a moments notice and not skip a beat.

Hopefully.

Except we really don't know what we have in Commodore. He hasn't looked great in his career recently. I want to see what he can give us and whether he has anything left.

99th among defensemen in plus/minus when playing as a bottom-pairing defenseman is barely decent to you? Oh, and by the way, that's more points than Stuart or Ericsson despite having less ice time on average. That's also more points in 26 games than he had last year in 47.

I'd say he's doing pretty damn well for his second full year. Who did you expect, Bobby Orr?

Wow, I didn't know Kindl has become "untouchable" on these forums for even a few games.

Fine, just sit Ericsson. As if I'd have a problem with him being the scratch.

#2235178 Mike Commodore

Posted by GMRwings1983 on 12 December 2011 - 11:14 PM

Hmmmm so very wrong, where to start? If Kindl has been 'just OK', do you really think Commodore would've sat for 12 straight games? Yeah, don't think so.

And those numbers are more than decent for a 6th defenceman who doesn't get PP time. More points than Stuart, and Ericsson.

Well, Ericsson has been downright s***ty, yet he got a big contract in the offseason and continues to suck. Still, Commodore sits behind him. I do question some of the evaluation of talent on this organization to still dress that guy every night.

I don't see anything wrong at all with my assessment. I'm not saying Commodore should permanently be dressed, but get him some games here and there, while sitting guys we can afford to sit.

I'm not saying we should sit Lidstrom or Kronwall to play Commodore.
