#2517740 Next Seasons Needs/Team Future

Posted by 2probert4 on 27 April 2014 - 05:17 PM

FOX Sports Detroit said this morning the team would target Niskanen and Boyle in Free Agency.

Tootoo probably isn't bought out because he doesn't really save them much money in doing so, but the Wings have one to use this season or lose it....

This will be a major off season for the Wings and Kenny Holland, who is nearing the end of his contract.

#2317649 Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

Posted by 2probert4 on 10 July 2012 - 09:45 AM

I wanted the Wings to add some grit, but Tootoo would be about at the bottom of my list.

Dirty player. Questionable defensively.

Don't forget "can't skate" , "poor puck-handler", and lacks discipline.. Jury is out on this one.....

#2317646 Rumor/Report: Semin to sign 1yr deal with Pens

Alexander Semin is on the verge of signing a 1-year deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins, according to a report out of Russia.

Everyone is signing with the Pens....

#2303583 Excellent 'Parise and Suter to Detroit' article

Posted by 2probert4 on 29 May 2012 - 09:30 AM

Yes, a year. Comparables for a long term contract: Kovalchuk and Weber (who is on a short term arbitration award IIRC) 10+7.5(short term, lowball). With salaries expected to rise every year, a LT contracts of parise and Suter will at least 10% higher than the Kovy+Weber. That is 19+ mil.

How about the Bruins? The Rangers? The Devils? The Kings? The Blues? The Preds? The Flyers even? Those all look like contenders to me.

Preds aren't contenders... They weren't this year and with 15 free agents (UFA and RFA combined) plus with limited finances, uhh nope. World Class goalie obviously....

#2300502 Suter most likely out of Nashville

Posted by 2probert4 on 10 May 2012 - 09:46 AM

Jim Diamond of the examiner just said on XM 92 that he is willing to bet that Suter is done in Nashville. Stating that "Nashville through truck loads of money at him to sign and he turned it down" He said Suter has indicated that he has a desire to play elsewhere. If that's true then so much for the speculation of having both Suter and Parise in Nashville.

Nashville never had a shot at Parise... They don't have the revenue to resign their own 15 free agents (combined UFA and RFA) much less add another 7 mill per player like Parise. Well, make that 13 because Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn more than likely are gone. With the season they had and only sold out 24 times, (many of those they bought up their own tickets) whats that tell you ?

Preds supposedly offered Weber a similar deal to Rinne's when they signed Rinne and Weber of course declined. Both Suter and Weber made it clear they will go somewhere that they can win a championship....

#2262339 2012 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 27th, 3:00 PM ET

Posted by 2probert4 on 25 February 2012 - 10:24 AM

Yeah, who needs his 18 goals? What a scrub.

2nd in team scoring 18 goals, no less.

Only reason he's second on the team in scoring is because Zetterberg is having an off year. He won't be worth the money that he will ask for at the end of this season, guaranteed. It's fine to mark out over him like you're doing, but for the money he will want, they could get someone bigger who scores as much or more....

#2259908 Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

Posted by 2probert4 on 21 February 2012 - 05:12 PM

He's still just 26 and he's an upgrade over Ericsson, Kindl and Commodore. I'd say he's worth of a late first rounder.

Quincey is 26, and he's RFA.... Remember, nobody knows if Brad Stuart returns next season, this is a way of covering a spot. But there will be logjam, especially if they use Brendan Smith next season as well.... Prices are a little high when the Wings are involved at the deadline, everyone should know that.

#2257664 Banner Hanging in Bridgestone Arena (Predators)

The story behind those 'Stanley Cup champion Nashville Predators hockey team' signs inside arena

Actually, it's a mission statement. One fans weren't really supposed to see.

Actually, the statement about the arena has been going on for about 6 months... So no Mission Statement with that. They really believe they are a Cup Caliber Team... Without sounding like a hater, if they DO NOT resign Weber, you will have people dumping what season tickets they do sell left and right. This offseason for them is the most important in their history.

Yes, it is...

Though technically theirs is "One Goal" and not "OneGoal".

They were throwing catfish on the ice, which of course is a ripoff of our tradition with the Octopus !

#2250332 Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

Posted by 2probert4 on 27 January 2012 - 07:46 PM

I can't see Ken Holland making a huge trade either on or before the deadline. Rumour has it that Ryan Suter will test the market July 1st and my guess is that the Wings will push hard for him.

I don't think that the Wings have the assets that other teams are looking for that they would be willing to part with. The players that could be moved like Hudler,Cleary,or Kindl don't have a lot of value even when packaged with a pick. Do you think Morrow could be had for a scrub and a pick? I am not so sure.

I wonder what Ericsson would be worth as trade bait to a team like Edmonton that is looking for a big young d-man?

were not getting Suter... They will trade him after the season if he doesn't resign.....
