#2465206 Can't remember the last time we were this pathetic

Posted by Guest on 16 December 2013 - 07:16 AM

When we have Zetterberg, Helm, Weiss, DeKeyser, Howard, Franzen, Abdelkader back in the lineup, in addition to the other players who have missed significant time due to injury like Ericsson, Datsyuk and Bertuzzi, and we still aren't scoring and are losing consistently, then I will get concerned.

Do I seriously have to delete posts containing personal attacks and warn people in a thread that's about great news like Datsyuk resigning??

#2417824 Visors Required - New NHL Players in '13-'14

I'm all in favor of this rule. Think it's a good idea going forward in the NHL.

To those against this....do you think players should be allowed to choose whether they wear a helmet as well?

As opposed to this, in order to reduce facial injuries they could go back to wooden sticks and further limit/enforce the curves on blades in order to reduce the general velocity of the puck.

No Hit League

NCL N o C hoice L eague

grown up men being told what to wear lmao this league is becoming m,ore and more of a big fat joke.

I don't really mean much offense by this, but you are exhibiting a clear lack of understanding of all the factors at play here.

Firstly, this doesn't happen if the Players Association didn't agree to it...they did.

Secondly, if the players were to play for free and waive 100% liability of anyone involved (rink, team, league, etc.), then sure, no one would care, let the guy do what he wants.  HOWEVER, that is not the case.  The players are being paid very significant amounts of money, teams want to protect their investments and rightfully so.  Someone might say they shouldn't care, they have insurance, but that just saves them a bit of money in the future should something happen....it doesn't give them the player back.  Also, if everyone was wearing visors, I'm sure their insurance premiums would decrease.

I'm sorry, but the extreme short-sighted views that grown men should be able to decide (it's their life) annoys me to no end.

#2403733 Any tips on ways to tolerate the NBC media?

Mute Button.  Turn on Ken Kal.  Problem Solved.

#2402265 Any pickins from the Canucks carcass?

Ryan Kesler? Him Fil and Franzen on a line could be a sick second line.

I assumed Kesler and the twins would be untouchable.

I'd do Howard, Datsyuk and Nyquist for Kesler, Burrows, Edler and Luongo--- assuming Pavel doesn't re-sign

Would be an NBA-type trade but hey

Really?  I don't think I would.  I want Dats to retire a Red Wing ... couldn't handle seeing him in another uniform.  I'd try to get him to sign a short extension 2-3 years if he wants to play a little longer.  But even if we don't get a single thing back for not trading him if he decides to retire in 2014, I still wouldn't pull the trigger on him.  He is too fun to watch.

3.5 a year + a performance based bonus.

My personal opinion considering this season and playoffs, $3.2-$3.8 is what he should be making and I think that's slightly generous. Gotta show me more than one season like he had last year before i'm convinced.

17 Points in the regular season, 2 points in the 6 game series so far? Not that impressed this year.

#2390122 Should I take an octopus to Dallas?

Good rule of thumb is always take an octopus everywhere. Better to have one and not need it than find yourself thinking, "Damn, I wish I had that octopus".

#2373497 Iginla may/may not have added Detroit to his trade list

Posted by Carman on 24 March 2013 - 10:24 PM

Not interested if it's 2 prospects and a pick.

How about this? 2nd and maybe like a 4th/5th round pick for him.

Also I'm guessing with the Pens acquiring Morrow that they are out on Iginla now?

Wings do have a ton of prospects right now, what's the harm in maybe letting Jurco, Ferraro or Pulkinnen go? There are a few untouchables like Mrazek, Sproul, Sheahan, but the rest I might be able to be talked into letting go. I'm excited about our prospects, but we really do have quite a few, and may need to shed some, so others can get the opportunity to play in Grand Rapids and develop.

#2373889 Phil Kessel's sister can play, eh

Posted by evilmrt on 25 March 2013 - 07:51 PM

Surprised I haven't seen this around here, maybe it has to do with less ladies on LGW than in days past (a shame). Amanda Kessel, Phil Kessel's sister, finished her junior year at Minnesota with 46 goals and 55 assists:

Amanda Kessel scored twice, and the Gophers breezed by Boston University 6-3 on Sunday to finish the first perfect season in the 13-year history of NCAA women's hockey.

Mira Jalosuo, Hannah Brandt, Milica McMillen and Rachel Ramsey also scored for the Gophers (41-0), who won their second straight national championship - and fourth overall - and stretched their record winning streak to 49 games. Their last loss was to North Dakota on Feb. 17, 2012, more than 13 months ago.

Now they've made a convincing case as the best team ever in this young sport. Wisconsin went 36-1-4 in 2007 and 37-2-2 in 2011 to win national titles, but never has one school dominated from October through March quite like this Minnesota bunch.
Kessel, who won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award on Saturday as the top player in the country, added two assists.

I guess hockey is genetic sometimes lol.

Has anyone seen her play, and do they think she could play in the AHL? We've already had several women play in men's minor leagues in the past.

She's even played on boys teams in the past:

The sister of Toronto Maple Leafs star (and former Gopher) Phil Kessel topped 100 three times in high school at Shattuck-St. Mary's in Faribault, Minn. Before that, Kessel played on a boys bantam team in her hometown of Madison, Wis., that won state and regional championships.
