the most frustrating part is not changing his linemates for even a shift to see if anything else works

no kidding. the amount that Babcock changes the lines up on a regular basis it's absurd that he's keeping the worst line together that is doing absolutely nothing.  Dats' points are going to s*** on that line.  what a waste.

Tuzzi for aggrevated assault  .  Sorry, couldn't help myself.  Love Tuzzi though.

Flip for pistol whipping, but never taking the shot.

Helm for speeding.

Exactly.

BUT if you don't re-sign Filpulla (because he asks for 5M or something) then you have one roster spot open.

If Kenny uses two amnesty buyouts (let's say Franzen [sick of his floating]and Cola [Mr Glass]) then that opens two more spots.

Something like this? Not saying that this is a preffered line-up, but it could be done (although Clarkson and Clowe will probably either re-sign with their respective clubs or get over-paid on the open market)

FORWARDS
Ryane Clowe ($5.000m) - Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) - Damien  Brunner ($4.000m)
Tomas Tatar ($0.840m) - Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) - David  Clarkson ($4.000m)
Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m) - Darren Helm ($2.125m) - Mikael Samuelsson ($3.000m)

Justin Abdelkader ($1.800m) - Joakim Andersson ($0.900m) - Jordin Tootoo ($1.900m)
Patrick Eaves ($1.200m)

Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) /

DEFENSEMEN
Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) - Ron Hainsey ($3.500m)
Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m) - Brendan Smith ($1.200m)
Brian Lashoff ($0.725m) - Kyle Quincey ($3.775m)
Jakub Kindl ($1.050m) /

GOALTENDERS
Jimmy Howard ($4.000m)
Jonas Gustavsson ($1.500m)
OTHER
Buyout: Carlo Colaiacovo ($0.000m)
Buyout: Johan Franzen ($0.000m)

As a fan of the Jets that lives in Winnipeg, you in no way, shape or form want Hainsey dude.  He's worse than Quincey and isn't even worth 2 mil per.  I would love Clarkson here, but if Clowe came here i'd uncontrollably vomit until he left again.  He's a cheap POS and belongs on the Sharks.  and at $5 mil per.... :nono: .  Keep Franzen instead of that D bag.  Flip will get Franzen money.  That's the way Kenny works.  And as stated above by DSM, there's only a certain number of roster spots open and you're bang on with Clarkson but not the others.  He would be perfect here.  He plays a lot like Perry, not quite as lethal around the net, but he's way tougher.  He would be the linemate that opens up space for Dats and Tatar, not Cleary or Abs.

Buying out Franzen would be foolish and they could probably get something for Colaiacovo in a trade. I seriously doubt Holland will use any amnesty buyouts.

Franzen would also get something in a trade.  There's a lot of teams that would take him in a second.  Flames, BJ's, Islanders, Sabres, Stars...the list goes on.  His value is understated, especially how he's actually been playing quite good this year.

#2362787 Trading Filppula

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 28 February 2013 - 08:38 PM

Ok, lets go with some hypothetic situation here.  With the rumblings of Ian White on the block (which is just that rumblings) let's say Holland has a package of:

Filppula

White

Kindl

...what type of player would you expect to see in return for something like that...even spice it up by throwing a prospect in there if you have to.  All pending FA's, so you may not get a great player in return, but realistically, what could you see coming back?

Dallas feels like trading away their good players, lets go with Loui Eriksson.  Get the WC line of Eriksson-Z-Mule back together and give Dats Brunner and Tatar and I poop myself from extreme happiness.

Please give Datsyuk someone to work with on his line. At this rate he will leave for Russia next week. I would.

Hard-fought game against LA last night, I wonder if we have the legs to compete tonight. Both the Kings and Sharks are teams we struggle a lot against, but we should have won yesterday so I hope we can see a similar effort against SJ.

We're being cheated as fans as well seeing Dats wasted on that tampon line.  Lose the plugs and give him Tatar and hopefully Flip roids up and plays tonight.  And after last nights s*** show from the refs, I hope the boys come out with a big ass chip on their shoulder and take it out 110% on the Sharts.  Kronwall Pavelski please.  I hate that rat bastard.  God i'm still super pissed from last night!

#2362611 Trade Deadline buyers or sellers?

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 28 February 2013 - 08:40 AM

At this point, I would not even consider trading Franzen for Weiss if i was Holland.  Unless they gave us their 2nd round pick as well at least.  Franzen was playing really good from game 3 on until his injury.

With everything we know about concussions, and an ex NFL lawsuit filed, I can't believe the NHL still allows head shots. Yes those 5 on 3's were bad, but my thing is the non head shot calls. I guess someone has to end up in a wheelchair, killed, or an ex NHL Players lawsuit has to be file before they take head shots serious.

I can't stand how the refs make calls based on the score. A penalty is a penalty, it doesn't matter what part of the game it's in. That's why an NHL game turns into the UFC at the end, because the players know things won't get called at that point in the game.

I keep hearing people say MLB is old fashioned, the NHL is worse.

This is the thing that pisses me off more than anything, and it's likely the #1 reason why every team aside from the Hawks has a thread about not holding leads.  When you are outplaying a team and should be killing them, the refs step in like they have af****** mandate and it's hard to keep watching a lot of the time.  Wings should have had a 5 on 3 in the last 10 minutes but instead the refs turned a blind eye and then called complete s*** against our boys.  One of the worst officiated games i've ever watched.

Dats works his magic to get it across the blue line and dish it to one of his linemates only to watch them dump it in the corner.  His talent is being wasted in the f***in corners.  Meanwhile Tatar lamenting with muckers on his line too, to the point where he tries to do it all himself.  Please Babcock, PUT TATAR ON DATSYUK'S LINE!!!

We've all been saying it.  Maybe it's time to write a strongly worded letter to Mr. Babcock.  Or perhaps give him a coffee so he wakes the f*** up.

should have had 3 straight PP's and then got scored on.  garbage.

Yeah...I'm not quite on the Emmerton band-wagon just yet.

I was ready to have him go fly kites in the arctic, but he's earning his roster spot and playing with a lot of heart.  I'd keep him over Cleary that's for sure.

Absolutely! Throw in the berserker guy on back up vocals and it will be the best sports night theme ever. Never mind that it was born of rage...

I want to make f*** berserker!

Let's hope the penalties slow down in the 3rd and we stop making poop passes up the middle.  If you're gonna go up the middle, do it good and hard.  Right ladies?  ;)

#2362340 2014 Salary Cap and overpayment projections

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 27 February 2013 - 11:48 PM

I gave everyone raises! Thats the best part. Dats was the only guy that went down annually. So give him 7 if thats what makes the difference.

Sproul and Ouellet are going to be .9 mil each, Brunner will get probably 3.5-4, Tatar will get likely 2 mil as will Nyquist, Flip will likely get Franzen's cap hit of 3.8, Howard isn't going anywhere and McCollum is Bryzgalov's left nut.  Perry and Getzlaf if they don't re-sign with the Ducks will get huge offers from some teams, but not necessarily teams they want to play for.  If the Wings offer them 6.5 or 7 mil per, that would be a better option than 14 from the Islanders.  Lots of higher end teams don't have the space for any of the big names and they likely don't want to go places like NYI, Jackets, Flames and such crappy teams.

#2362239 Time to sit Ian White

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 27 February 2013 - 11:14 PM

And I finally got my wish.  Ian White should go to Carolina and give us a 3rd or 4th round pick so we can load up on prospects.  I'd rather Huskins come back than White.  How are you -2 in an 8-3 win?

#2362230 Gus Nyquist...

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 27 February 2013 - 11:04 PM

Everytime Nyquist is here, Babcock plays him in the bottom 6....much like he is doing with Tatar...I think he should have his shot in the top6 like Brunner has been given, if he still has the same results as he has had in the past, then maybe it's time to move forward without him...but I think given top 6 minutes consistently, he will shine....as would Tatar if Babcock would put him there...

Filppula - Datsyuk - Tatar

Nyquist - Zetterberg - Brunner

Role with it and lets see what plays out!

While I love those lines....a lot....I can't wait for Helm to come back and imagine the fun we can have with a top 9 barring further injuries.

Brunner-Z-Flip

Tatar-Dats-Franzen

Nyquist-Helm-Bertuzzi

3rd line would have to be the Robaxacet line.  Hope Helm and Tuzzi get better soon.

#2361123 Dan Cleary appreciation thread

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 25 February 2013 - 02:00 PM

It shouldn't have to be a huge novelty like it is when Cleary actually has a couple good games, but it really is.  I truly hope he is not re-signed this summer.  4 points in 19 games doesn't mean "Cleary's back", it simply means he had a multiple point game to double his season total while playing 20 mins a night in the top 6 with Dats.  Not sold on him.
