I have no idea about NYI line combos, just heard he and Tavares were prime together. He's done a lot worse in buffalo though (not that most wouldn't) his scoring average has dropped from around 0.8 - 0.9 to about 0.6.
Makes me think he'd be just as good with the Magic Man.
Bogo's a good player, but he's not a superstar by any stretch. I'd rather have Trouba.
Trouba's the Jets franchise Dman. Completely off the table. He and Scheifele are the future of that teams youth.
Why does everyone keep bringing up Bogosian? He was just signed to a big (albeit fair) contract and has a full NMC.
The Jets have publicly stated before he's a piece they're building around and there hasn't been a single rumour anywhere he will be traded.
I get people like him, but there is literally 0% chance he's dealt.
If you want a trade with the Jets for D, you're not gonna get far with Bogo or Trouba offers. Enstrom, Stuart and Buff apparently can be had at the right price. But the Jets also want to push for the playoffs this season. So whoever they trade, they want to do it in a way to stay competitive and in the playoff hunt.
Man Switzerland put on a show in the second period, if they keep this up they are going to come back and win this thing. Don't know why but I have a softspot for them and Sweden.
That's cause Sweden is awesome and Wing laden.
Well, Switzerland is gone. And I thought they would surely make it to the quarterfinals. Bah.
Czech just sealed the deal.
Goodbye Slovakia, get your crap together please, you're the biggest disappointment of the tournament.
Aside from Tatar and Jurco! Go Wings!
Latvia upsets the Swiss? Sheesh, how easy are they going to make it on Canada? Talk about an easy ride to the semi's....easiest group in the Tourney and now Latvia... what a croc of conspiracy crap!
Wonder if the USA "ends up" losing to the Czechs....Hmmmmm.....guess we will cross that when we get there....
Just for fun, please tell us how this is a conspiracy? The standings are how they are. Personally, I'd rather have a tougher matchup against the Czechs to keep the guys engaged 100%.
its a typical response from an entitled Canadian fan...if USA can beat the Czechs, canadas cake walk will end... Not saying we are better than them, but they ain't seen nothing like the US Team. They just don't understand USA Hockey...
Are you not done with that crap yet? And if you're gonna say that s***, at least quote someone saying something of the sort.
Eh, idk. I thought they weren't going to be that good in the beginning of the tourney, but even with the injuries they played rather really good, and also took Canada to OT. I think the gap is closer and people keep underestimating them.
I could see Finland upsetting the Russians for 2 reasons:
1. Finland lines up at the blueline and plays 110% D.
2. Russia needs to skate hard to penetrate the wall of D, and Ovechkin, Malkin and Semin have been quite lazy and HATE to chase dump ins.
Of course what? The Czechs are a much more formidable opponent than Slovenia or Latvia. Any team with several NHL players will be a tough test. Is there really any question about that? I should be the one saying "of course." Of course some Canadian would try and downplay the toughness of team USA's matchup, while their team gets yet another non-NHL caliber team to play (aside from playing Finland).
It's not like I was singling Canada out. I said Sweden and Canada both have very easy matchups, while the Russians and Americans will both have tougher tests. And that's 100% true.
Your boys may have an advantage going into the semi's being a little more battle tested than the Canadian's. An intense game with Russia and then the Czechs will have your boys focused. Latvia may make our boys complacent, and you know Babcock's teams don't always show up in the 1st period to do anything other than weather a storm. I guess you can choose your evil in this case...
I have no idea what kind of team Canada is? It's the same kind of team as the USA is, a bunch of All Star NHL players...putting a Canadian sweater on Ryan Getzlaf doesn't make him any different of a player when he has a Ducks sweater on. Same can be said for Cam Fowler fort the USA.
You gave up two goals all tourney thus far, true, but you barely beat Norway and Finland. We gave up 2 goals to Russia, arguably the 3rd best team in the Olympics. You gave up 2 goals total to Finland and Norway (snicker) all while scoring 11, 6 of which came against Austria (snicker snicker.) We only gave up 4 total and scored, ready? 15 all against NHL laden teams with NHL goaltenders...
This is all meaningless, but it was one of your fellow Canadian fans who first posted that the reason Canada has struggled is that they have played higher ranked teams...which its obvious that that excuse has been blown out of the water.
Team USA and Team Canada are basically the same team. So to say I don't know what kind of team Canada is, is just wrong on all aspects. Team USA just seems to be gelling better and that could be the factor that makes the difference this year.
So 4 more goals for than Canada, and 2 more against. So your guys offence has been working better and our D has been working better. And 6 of our goals are from our D. We all know full well our F's have been lame offensively, but it's only a matter of time before the smelling salts kick in. All it takes is a little patience for the other team to make a mistake and strike. D isn't our worry, so there's a massive bonus.
To answer your question to darkmanx, that is our Canadian team in a nutshell. A defensive juggernaut that is ready to explode offence.
Cheers to that! But, in no possible scenario would I ever wish Canada a win...I compare that to routing against Colorado back in the day to lose every chance they get...especially if it were an upset!
(that being said, I am sure there are plenty of Canadian fans who feel the same about the USA) Nothing wrong with either fan, that is just country pride!
BTW, I find it very hard to root for the players on team USA because of who they are and what they mean to me in the NHL, but I so feel the need to root for the USA. That also being said, if you go back and look, I did pick Russia to beat the USA in the Gold Round.
That's more being cynical than patriotic. Wishing for the worst possible for a country instead of just cheering for your own.... But to each their own I guess.
I feel bad for Z. FWIW, I have had back problems since I was around 20 (almost 28 now), and I can go months or longer being just fine, and then the dumbest, seemingly innocuous thing will happen and I will have to start all over. I am a funeral director so I do a lot of heavy lifting all the time and be great and then I will take the slightest slip on some ice or lift a laundry basket or something not even worth noting to myself and it will start. Sometimes it is even 2-3 days before the inflammation kicks in to cause pain.
For all we know, the long plane ride could have been enough on Z. I hope he has a productive, long-term recovery, not only for his hockey career but for his lifetime.
The slight turn to put your seatbelt on. That's my latest. Proves s*** happens even when you're careful. Best of luck dude. May you be pain free as long as possible.
Well here's hoping this time around they award the gold based on past achievement. If not, this time next week you boys will be watching curling, waving your little Canadian flags, and endlessly repeating "four years ago we were the best in the world".
Last USA gold medal was 1980. I'd take 4 years rather than 34. I guess what I'm saying is that when Canada wins it, it's not a big enough deal to make a movie. Kick ass movie though.
No CBC announcer, this isn't "technically a great game". USA vs Russia was a great game. This game is a chess match where Canada needs to get more quality shots to the net, but the Finns D is in their heads and they're as Kip said, skating in glue. That's why I wanted a guy like Ladd on the 4th line to grind and hit. USA has a line of Callahan-Backes-Brown....we have Nash in that role. f*** me.
