#2346778 1/25 GDT : Wild 3 at Red Wings 5

That's fine. Cheering for him to be injured is stupid. He has a wife and daughter. They are hockey players to us, but a lot more to other people.

I will no longer publicly cheer for Dan Cleary's injuries.  My bad dude.  Knee jerk reaction...  I hate seeing him in a Winged Wheel, but i guess that is overboard.

Who are the ******* fans booing Suter?  Seriously?

It happens in every rink when a guy snubs a team.  I expected no less.  Don't worry, his wife will defend him and Zachypoo.

Without a doubt.  Perry and Getzlaf both have contracts coming off the books this year.  I'm not sure which D-men are coming in this year, but I'm sure we can plug holes.  I'm just excited about ouellette and sproull.  Furthermore, this summer we may be signing dekeyser to an elc.  It's hilarious how poorly equipped many of us are to deal with a couple years of mediocrity.  It really is a testament to how well this team has been run.

It has been the Modus operandi (MO)of this team to develop its core players as opposed to acquiring them through through trades and free agency.

I'm so well equipped for this season of mediocrity that I find myself shrugging off goals against the wings for the greater good of their future.

Well, I know that arguing with you is a complete waste of time since your opinions are never ever wrong, so really I should give up, however I would like to point out that neither the OP or myself have said "This team is definitely a disaster! It needs to be blown up now!"

We, like many others on this board see this team as a borderline playoff team, and a team slowly in decline.  And that without a major infusion of youth and talent, it is indeed going to get worse before it gets better.  You insist on mocking anyone who expresses such an opinion as a hysterical chicken-licken worthy of your scorn instead of offering a constructive answer to the paper-thin defense, aging stars, unmotivated players and lack of blue-chip prospects to replace them.

I just noticed something...you live in the Shire lol.  Sorry, couldn't help myself.

On topic, I kinda want things to get mildly worse for the Wings this year.  Already 9 injuries and then only one set to come back next game is Kindl...that speaks for itself.  As far as i'm concerned, the Wings need to finish bottom 5 and get McKinnon or Drouin.  I don't care for Seth Jones, we have Oulette and Sproul.  Franzen and Cleary need to depart asap and Quincey should be traded to the Islanders for a 7th round pick...geez, that's like a 6th round pick!  Then Holland needs to convince Getzlaf, Perry or Iginla to come here in the offseason, and it's ok to talk about this already cause in 3 more games the "actual" season would be half done anyways.

If the Wings looked like this next season, I'd be quite happy:

Brunner-Datsyuk-Zetterberg
(McKinnon/Drouin)-Filppula-(Getzlaf/Perry/Iginla)
Nyquist-Helm-Jarnkrok
Abdelkader-Sheahan-Tootoo
Eaves/Miller

Kronwall-Smith
Oulette-Sproul
White-Ericsson
Coliacovo

Howard
MRAZEK

The Wings would definitely be worse now and better after...

I'd like to see Tatar but realistically he wouldn't have a different impact than Nyquist. The only player who fits a need right now is Sheahan, and I don't know if he's ready.  We already have grinders.  What we need are bonafide scorers.

With the rate that Wings are dropping off this year, it's only a matter of time before the 3rd line is Nyquist-Sheahan-Tatar.  And I for one would be more than ok with that.

Hudler had nothing to do with it. We were never going to keep both Franzen and Hossa, seemed to me it was just a matter of who signed first. Also, coming off a career year and a 2nd straight big playoff year certainly didn't hurt Franzen.

Really makes you look forward to Franzen's next contract year.....oh wait...

#2343056 The Ken Holland Quote Thread

Jesus. It's a pretty bad time to be a Wings fan I guess, if we're already bashing Holland for making the wrong 2013, 1st or 2nd overall draft choice.

Talk about insanity.

This is a fun thread to ease the tension after a pathetic start to the season, and it's fun to see all the tomfoolery people can come up with.  And about half way through the season we may see some good Holland quotes. I almost want to start a thread for Babcock's quotes of frustration.  I'll wait til we have about 8-10 to laugh at.

I've actually been looking around a few other wings forums, and I think most people are starting to hate Holland. It isn't his fault Bettman has created a forced parity in the league, he has done as good a job as any gm with what he has to work with. People are going as far as putting pictures of holland with a target on his face as their profile picture, and the caption saying HOLLAND SUCKS. I say give him another season to see if he can turn this team around, He brought us a lot of success in the past.

I have always been a big Holland fan, but this offseason i want to be able to quote him in saying the follwing:

"The Wings are too small and can't forcheck their way out of a paper bag.  Sorry Sweden, we're drafting 7 players this year from North America and they're all gonna be 6'3 or bigger cause that's how you win the cup since our last win.  We're gonna play catch up now."

On top of that, we need Perry or Getzlaf here if they test the market.  That would be Holland's saving grace.

"We're comfortable with keeping Franzen, even though Marian was willing to take a huge discount to stay, we like our chances with Johan and Jiri..."

Somewhere a ball was dropped...  The Hossa non-signing was an epic failure.

#2340956 2013 Red Wings Predictions: Will They Win it All?

Wings win the Cup thus meaning no one else does.  No other predictions need be made.

#2340842 Kronwall IS a #1 Dman

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 17 January 2013 - 08:49 AM

Living in the shadows of Nick Lidstrom would make any other Dman on a team appear less worthy.  Take away Lids and we have Kronwall whom despite the fact that we've been so spoiled with Lids, is a #1 D.  Putting up 40-50ish points on the 2nd pairing is no accident.  The only reason he wasn't on the first pairing with Lids was to spread the wealth.  If anyone here is under the impression that Kronner won't be a legit #1 guy, his play this year will undoubtedly speak for itself.  People are sceaming for the likes of Weber, Suter, Pietrangelo etc, but Kronwall is every bit as valuable as all of them.  Wait for his name to be in Norris talks and everyone will be on board.

#2338441 Canadian hockey fans - they mad!

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 08 January 2013 - 09:06 AM

What I don't get is this sense of entitlement any fan of any team has. It's what made beating Canada all that much better. If the CFL starting developing players in the NFL and they had a tournament in which they beat the USA, I wouldn't go all ape-sh*t like some here have.

Just because you may have created a sport doesn't mean you own it or that you're not allowed to be beaten at it. To those b*tching....Grow Up and stop making the rest of your fans look bad.
I'm with you 100% on this one.  Being a Canadian, I feel that if it's "our game" we should prove it by taking gold.  For the fans that no doubt are looking back at their lame comments likely feeling pretty embarrased as they should, they shouldn't lash out at a country cause their team bested ours.  Last time I heard, Canadians were supposed to be "classy" and "nice people"....apparently we don't know how to lose with class and give credit where it's due.  For us, hockey is gold or bust, but if it's a bust, learn from it.  Don't make yourself and your country look bad.

You can't expect to win medals in this tournament if you make big mistakes like cutting your best d-man
Is his name Ryan Sproul?  What do I win?

Ryan Murphy is the worst piece of garbage we've had on D for years and Subban is all hype and overrated.  Should have been 2 more Wings prospects on team Canada.  The US team wanted it more and had a superior goalie. and then Canada couldn't beat a team of puckhogs for bronze....not that i watched cause truth be told, i don't wake up at 3am for bronze.  Better luck next year.

P.S. Bring a coach next year.

:hysterical:  haha wow.. a little excessive to say the least.

The excessive part is lashing out at the US for winning a hockey game that they deserved to win and not at the lazy unmotivated bums that lost the game for our country.

71 games last year.  Makes Emdog a regular.

Quit giving yourself nicknames....you're just Cory.

#2334850 [Retired] Official Lockout Thread

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 28 November 2012 - 09:18 AM

...and I just lost all respect for Ryan Miller...

Decertify the Union and return to the good old days of owners actually "owning" players....

Everyone out there who thinks the Union is the bad seed here please go watch the movie "Net Worth."

The owners are no different than the CEO's of this world...If Hostess hads't taught you anything then nothing will...liqiudate the company and STILL award CEO's and Top managment MILLIONS of dollars in bonuses...They sure were hurting for money, eh?

That's the exact thing I was talking about with my dad a couple days ago.  Ted Lindsay started the NHLPA because guys were getting injured and getting dumped by their teams and they were paying for their own moves when they got traded from team to team and the last straw for Lindsay was when an old teammate of his died in his car after he got cast from the team due to injuries.  The union was brought in to give the players their HUMAN RIGHTS, not to make it so they can use things like decertifying the union to take the cowards way out of the lockout and try to basically scam the owners, which will tie the lockout up in court and we'll be lucky to see hockey next year let alone this year.

I'd love to hear what Terrible Ted has to say about decertification.  Maybe a pioneer of the game that used to make $7,000 per year to be one of the greats can talk some sense into the millionaires.  I've been on the players side from the beginning, but i'll lose the players respect if they decertify the union that's given them so much over the years.

#2334110 Sheahan arrested for "superdrunk" driving

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 15 November 2012 - 01:55 PM

He might have gotten away with it had he not been driving the wrong way on a 1 way street in downtown Grand Rapids. Hahah. Caught the story on the local news.

That's some funny stuff right there.  Really he should have just left his car at home if he was gonna go for a night out on the town and cabbed it.

#2333678 Swiss League Topscorer Damien Brunner

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 07 November 2012 - 02:08 PM

I agree with you.  No reason to have 20 of the same type of forward.  We need SPEED, SIZE, and TOUGHNESS.  The Wings have enough Skill.

That's why some of us want to let some of our 3rd/4th liners go and bring up young, big and fast players like Sheahan and Andersson to take care of the banging and crashing.  If we have skilled guys like Brunner and Nyquist in the top 6 where they belong and we have Sheahan and Andersson in the bottom 6 with the likes of Helm, Tootoo, Abdelkader, Eaves and Bertuzzi I guess.  Your top 6 is Nyquist-Dats-Franzen and Flip-Z-Brunner and that's a pretty solid forward unit.  Then that takes care of skill, toughness, speed and that will win lots of games as well cause of the amount of responsible 2-way forwards on that team.
