#2424676 2013 NHL Entry Draft Discussion

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 02 July 2013 - 12:34 PM

Ya well some of these big name players taken this year in the top ten probably won't even see much nhl time in their career, and some unknown guy will be a star. That's just the way she goes

My money is obviously on Hampus Melen.  Now THAT is a household name!  I'm not jumping on the bandwagon on this one, I'm pulling it, which is fine cause it's not heavy.

Hampus Melen is the best name in hockey since Zarley Zalapski and Enrico Ciccone.

#2423017 McBeast

One may wonder what the Wings plan to do with this guy.  He's a big tough SOB that can play forward of defense.  If he plays D, he could be our Scott Stevens type which would make my day, but if he played forward, dare I say he could be as close as we could get to our old fan favorite Bob Probert.  Not saying he's the same as the 2 guys above, but it would be nice to think we have a guy in our system that could play one of those 2 roles, and hopefully do it well.

But Shero is GM of the year! I thought he could sign EVERYONE!  :greedy:

:hysterical:

He lacks discipline. If he can get his head straight I'm very excited about him :)

I'll 2nd that.  And I like Johnz96's nickname of McBeast cause that's what he seems to be.  I'll take a super sized punch to the entire Eastern Conference, cause apparently we need to get tougher.....  maybe McKee will be on that short list to get on the team.

#2422187 2013 Stanley Cup Finals - Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

How the hell is Kane the MVP?  Crawford or Bickell should've gotten it.

esteef

My choice for MVP is Seabrook.  He got Toews back on track....twice, got 2 OT goals, 1 winning a series and the 2nd swinging the momentum back for the Hawks.  On top of that, he played really good shutdown hockey and was a big leader for the Hawks.

The main problem with all the MVP type trophies and Norris and such, is that EVERY trophy is a point race.  They aren't given to the guys that actually fit the description of the trophy.

I thought the game would be played here.

That definitely looks like the outskirts of Winnipeg.  You can watch your dog run away for 3 days.

#2419656 What would you give up for Malkin?

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 13 June 2013 - 10:00 AM

Wow. $9m+ per year. I don't think they'll be winning any Cups soon.

They won their cup in 2009.  They like to win every 20 years.  Hopefully they go more than that, or just never win again, but Ray "GM of the year" Shero apparently didn't get the memo that the cap is going down 6 million next year and you can't blow 18.2 on 2 players and still have enough depth to win the cup, hence Boston's sweep of them.  The B's have 4 lines, the Pens don't.  I'm actually quite happy the Penguins have handcuffed themselves though as I have intolerable hatred for that organization as a whole.

I'd rather those poor people who have no idea win another cup than Marchand seguin, chara, Rask, jagr.

I wanted wings or kings. Neither made it so anyone but Boston

This probably had a topic 2 years ago, but now the rioters are being charged and some spent some time in jail.  I love how half of the people that were actually involved weren't even hockey fans, they just wanted to steal electronics and other schwag.  Good times.

#2419355 CHL moving to ban European goalies

Posted by Z Winged Dangler on 12 June 2013 - 09:50 AM

What's next, no American's allowed to be in the CHL?

This should be the cue for all European players to exit the CHL immediately.  Stand up for your fellow countrymen.

Boo Hoo CHL, what does your Va-J-J hurt? Does it stink that the top 5 goalies in the NHL are either American or European? Hey you still got Crawford...but he has the same label as Osgood.  On that team, my grandma could be a Stanley Cup goalie...

Why do you think us Canadians have such wood for Brodeur?  We have some good goalies, but we pump up hacks like Malcolm Subban instead of good goalies like Patterson who should have started for Canada at the WJHC last year and wonder why our goalies don't develop as they should.  I'm not very proud of our latest string of goalies that falls way short of up and comers and proven goalies that include the likes of Mrazek, Quick, Howard, Lundqvist and such.  We have an aged Brodeur, Subban and then ever entertaining Luongo who is currently fighting for his job with yet another American goalie.  And don't forget Fleury who lost his starting job to Vokoun.  Canadian goalies NEED to fight for their jobs and be pushed by outside sources.  What kind of message does it send to them when they're handed jobs in the CHL that they don't deserve?
