#2546941 GDT:11/4 Detroit Red Wings vs. Ottawa Senators 7:30p.m

I'm not freaking out, but it's certainly disconcerting when you start the season off 6-2-2.  Start a new month and proceed to drop your first two games against teams that you should beat.

I know that we got a point out of that game vs. Buffalo... but it was only one point... in a game... with Buffalo.

Yeah, those were big fat juicy points on the table just waiting for us, and we squandered them. It's frustrating to see them waist that opportunity to say the least.

I'd hope Holland would put in a call to Sergei for a reference on Semin...he played with him, and is now a GM himself...be interesting to hear what his observations and recommendations would be.

How'd they get the stretcher out after he gave it a NMC?

THE KID LINE is NOT READY to EXCELL as a 2ND LINE.

Who's with me on this?

Yes, they can compete and hold their own, but they are still not ready to be counted on for scoring against 2nd pairing D, etc.

If they stay as a 2nd line, (ok, namely Tats and Shea) we will continue to experience a lot of one goal wins/losses.

Conversely, THE KID LINE will be an awesome 3rd line, providing energy, scoring, and all round "holy f***". They can push us over the top PROVIDED we get a legit 2c to slot between Franzen and NyQ, as Weiss was spossed to be.

We need to keep the 1st line together to continue their awesomeness (ZDA) and the Kid Line as 3rd to be awesome, and stick Helm in to hold the fort as 2c until...1) we get someone else, 2) Weiss gets his nads and mojo back, 3) Helm becomes the "Never saw this coming" story of the year.

Quite possibly for the same reason Abdelkader plays in the top 6.

If you haven't noticed by now, Babcock likes to have a digger/forchecker on his top lines.

Helps to roll 4 lines.  This is nothing new.

Especially in the salary cap era. (Let me know if this comment actually needs explaination)

#2546457 Strong Penalty Killing, Lack of Scoring the Story of 2014 So Far

Posted by T.Low on 03 November 2014 - 05:03 PM

Boy, these guys don't know what they're talking about. Maybe they should watch some games before they comment
How are Nyquist, tatar, helm, Jurco, abdelkader, sheahan and Glendenning all the same type of player?
How is Nyquist not a scorer?
And Dekeyser is offensive? Haha

Well, atleast they made a good point about getting rid of Tatar for a guy who can come in and get 20-25 goals. I mean he only had 19 in 70 some games as a rookie, and only has 3 in 11 games so far which only projects out to...hmm, whaddya know, 20-25 in 82.

That first period was as amazing as any in recent history. That was a 2002/2008 period.

Not like Tyler Myers plays for either one of those teams...

Two of last nights goals exemplified Babcocks thinking.

Helm with Datsyuk because his awesome puck retrieval skills: Tied the game with an awesome goal.

Tatar not ready for more ice time: his mark scored while he was indisciplined, opened the door for the loss of the game.
This team has a pretty flat finish to it: not a makeup that can score consistently.

Tatar Sheahan Jurco, while a really cool line that we all love, obviously cannot/have not scored as a 2nd line. The only way they produce is as a 3 rd line.

They need to booster their rooster with Weiss and Kindl.

And if they're still feeling a little dreary, we could always send them Cleary.

#2544200 future captains?

Posted by T.Low on 24 October 2014 - 11:12 AM

C - Nasty
A - Larkin
A - DDK
Nasty oozes leadership. He's been a C every where he's been.
Scouts have already said Larkin is the type of player that will wear a letter in the nhl.
DDK is just a hunch cause he's a stud.

Wow, I'm so not hip. Is that NastyQuist or NastySil?

#2543379 Weiss

Posted by T.Low on 22 October 2014 - 10:13 AM

Weiss isn't our savior

He was signed to be a key piece, of that there is no argument.

Filppula wanted out and I think TB will regret that deal. He's never had 2 back to back healthy productive seasons.

Struggling so far. 5 pts in 7 games, OT winner last night.

Aren't they getting Stevie Y and both Bowmans, too, to complete the Mgt Team?

#2540282 Datsyuk to play Thursday? Weiss to be a healthy scratch?

Posted by T.Low on 12 October 2014 - 04:58 AM

You are completely right. People love to praise the Kings, and I will be the first to admit they have done one hell of a job with that franchise. But, what people forget is that to get there and get those picks you listed, they didn't make the playoffs from 2002-2010. If I told you the Wings would be elite, but to do so we would be out of the playoff picture until 2022, I think most people would pass.

Yet, on hfb the Kings fans are already complaining about lack of prospects...
