#2502668 They Call me...Tater Salad

Posted by T.Low on 28 March 2014 - 05:45 PM

My GF had neighbors like that.  Fortunately her apartment complex didn't put up with it very long.  3rd time they had the police there for a noise complaint, the kids were gone.
I understand having fun, but the kid needs to grow up a bit or get a nice house in the suburbs.

When I was that age, I was doing similar things. Only I was in my own home town, in my native country. My father was still alive and very available for guidance and perspective. And I wasn't making bank. And I wasn't nearly as high strung to begin with.

It's a strange period in his life, no doubt. But IMO, they're the golden years. I would recommend not growing up too fast. You can never go back.

#2502666 Avery vs. Brodeur

Posted by T.Low on 28 March 2014 - 05:20 PM

haha, yeah. Eff Neal.
No matter what you say about him, though, he has the trump card every time:
Elisha Cuthbert

Au contraire , mon ami: I've got Jen Murphy, known across our hockey league as The Jenerator. As a defensive pairing, our goalie once informed us that we'd gone 11 games in a row without getting scored upon. Murph is a Class IV white water kayaker. An excellent mountain biker. Restored her own 63 Volvo. Dabbles in triathlons. Is too smart to ever go out with Avery or Phanuef. And most relevantly, is a huge Red Wing fan.

Cuthbert would be fun for a long weekend, but as far as a lifetime goes, I've got the trump card.

I would just like to see Marty's 1100 hp Dodge Charger, couldn't care less about the *** for tat. So many of these great athletes are just not guys I'd ever want to tip a wobbly pop with. At least I could talk cars with Marty. I've tried to find a picture of it, but apparently my Google fu is subpar.

I suppose I could ask Avery why is it that I like my Michigan Hockey hoodie so much, but my Detroit hoodie is way to tight in the shoulders even though it's the same size...what's up with that, Sean?

#2501746 Gustav Nyquist Appreciation Thread

Posted by T.Low on 27 March 2014 - 12:50 PM

Just saw this over at Winging it in Motown and got a kick out of it...
"Gustav Nyquist once ate three 72 oz. steaks in an hour.  He spent the first 45 minutes having sex with his waitress."

He got blown like a 2goal Red Wing lead?

Sorry...it's a family forum...

Nyquist is going to have to step it up. His 2 goals a game isn't getting it done. He needs 4 goals tonight for us to have a chance at winning.

Anyone else think Franzen must be playing with lower body injury? He's lost some jump...

#2493672 3/9 GDT: Red Wings at Rangers

Posted by T.Low on 09 March 2014 - 12:48 PM

These guys are so sickening to listen to. Rags get called for a penalty and they say its the Wings committing it.

I can't believe they didn't call out St Louis on his dive on the Quincey cross tap: he gets tapped, then realizes the opportunity an instant later and jumps into the boards to draw the penalty.

Opinion of him dropping daily...

With the time change and the fact that the Wings are playing in the morning, for heaven's sake, . :sleepy:

And living on the west coast (puck drop 9:30am at Casa de T.Low) and us having friends over into the wee hours last night, I'll be watching this one in my PJs with coffee and pop tarts. :-)

#2493234 If Kronwall isn't a #1

Posted by T.Low on 08 March 2014 - 04:01 PM

The real point is every Stanley Cup winner since the '04-'05 lockout has had a better #1 than Kronwall, and some of them had a top pairing he wouldn't be able to crack.

A more relevant question is can he lead us to the Promised Land?

#2492086 3/6 GDT: Avs 3 at Red Wings 2 (OT) Sorry Nick.

Listen to Nick's speach on the computer, he's really picked up his Swedish accent again since being home.

Class on display on Vancouver's Team 1040 all day. Every sports update throughout the day they mentioned Nick Lidstrom Night at the Joe tonite, they brought on guys like Ray Ferraro etc to talk about Lidstrom, ( Scotty Bowman had to reschedule for tomorrow) and every radio station give away today was to the 5th caller in honor of Nik.

They are fans, they miss watching him play, and really appreciate what he brought to the game.

Edit: Then they went back to roasting Gillis, Torts, and the Aquilinis!

#2491788 Red Wings have Recalled Pulkkinen from Grand Rapids

Posted by T.Low on 06 March 2014 - 04:53 PM

Ya looked life Alfie lost some teeth in the last game

Sadly awesome to watch him skating around picking up his chicklets off the ice looking like my 3 yr old walking around picking up her M&Ms off the kitchen floor.

Way to take one for the team, Alf.

#2491698 21 games to make it 23 years

Posted by T.Low on 06 March 2014 - 01:45 PM

It's a great point... who cares about trying to get to a 3-decade playoff streak when 53% of teams make the playoffs!  It's not impressive at all!  By random chance a team will make 30 consecutive playoffs 1 out of 186,949,330 chances, so of course that's not impressive!  Phooey to that.
It's CLEARLY much more important to try to tank to the 10th overall pick rather than sneak into the playoffs and get the 15th overall pick.  I mean, we as Red Wings fans know for a FACT that it's impossible to get franchise altering players without having the absolute highest picks possible!  Who would want 2008 15th overall Erik Karlsson over 10th overall Cody Hodgson?

AND all this talk about tanking makes me wonder how many on LGW have actually played sports. Is Holland supposed to tell some of the world's most competitive athletes and coaches, ( Babcock, Alfredsson, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Bertuzzi , Tatar, Nyquist, Howard etc) that he is going to rob them of their chance to reach their life's goal, their entire reason for existence up to this point in their lives, the chance to make the playoffs , their chance to be the under dog and do what everyone told them they could not do, against all odds win the Stanley Cup, that everything it means to be a Red Wing will end on their watch? (Grandpa, tell me what it was like being on the team that tanked and ended one of the most Golden eras in all of hockey).

Holland: "Alfie, thanks for your sacrifices but I'm shutting 'er down so we can move up and gamble on a higher pick that we may see in 5-6 yrs if it works out or not. Thanks for pissing away everything you've worked for including your old friends and teammates and uprooting your family for nothing. "

"Andy, Tomas, Gus, Riley, Glenny, Danny, I've decided to set you up for failure this year. So, I do not want you to build on your Calder Cup experience. I want you to get away from making the conscious decision every morning when you wake up to be great. I want you to move away from greatness, be a little less than the guy across from you on each and every shift. It may be humiliating at times, it may destroy character deep inside you, you may feel like you are not playing for your teammates, but trust me, years from now, we might be better."

Not sure how you guys think this is supposed to work in real life.

We need a top 4 defenceman somehow this offseason...

I'm thinking a top 2...

i'm embarrassed to be a red wings fan today.
thanks a lot, ken.

Lose some weight and upgrade into a Lidstrom jersey, you'll feel better. :-)
