#2435471 Lines Thread

Posted by T.Low on 08 September 2013 - 03:46 PM

I agree however Dats was too small for a while too, I see a lot of similarities in Dats and Nyquist so I feel his size will soon come....

... I still feel Datsyuk Zetterberg Nyquist .is a "secret weapon" line that would 100% bewilder whomever the opposing line happens to be.

Like I said, Nyquist could be a great addition to z & D for certain matchups. But during the playoffs Nyquist would probably get bumped for a more physical player like Abby or Healthy Bert, Similar to Saad getting bumped for Bickell

All I can say at this point is how awesomely entertaining would Zetterberg Datsyuk Nyquist--------->#

Versus certain matchups you are right, it would be a lot of fun to watch. With other matchups Abby may work better, and other matchups still, Bert or even Mule may be the best option

This roster certainly has its fair share of options.

One option I'd like to see would be Mule Weise Bert. That line had it's moments in the past with Filapoola, like to try it with the new guy.

Not to mention that line could then leave Z D Alf as the other top line.

Z D Alf

Mule Weise Bert

Tatar Anderson NyQ

Abby Helm Eaves

Odds of seeing the two Berts on the same line...I guess I'd have a better chance of winning the lotto.  It'd be kinda cool, though.

I was lazy in my thought; I should not of said that we would be in trouble, rather that we would be nothing special.

Well, I guess for us, that is in trouble.

#2434658 Franzen: "I am not a goal scorer"

Posted by T.Low on 01 September 2013 - 09:31 PM

Why is everybody getting their panties in a ruff? It's nothing we don't already know.

The guy is what he is, does what he does, and gets paid what he gets paid. He's not first and foremost a goal scorer. . Too bad, so sad. Not a news flash. He's an asset and a good value.

Threads like this are Gems.  It is the reason I come back to LGW and put up with the 48 pages of BS in the 50 page Brunner Contract thread.

Thanks a ton.

it's the weight of the C that has caused Thornton to underperform.

You know a lot more about NHL history than I do.

The only thing I would change would be to add Garth Butcher on to Vancouver's. Mainly because he is an acquaintance of mine. Ha ha

#2430870 Fedorov: ‘We had the chance’ to bring Datsyuk to KHL

Posted by T.Low on 19 July 2013 - 04:17 PM

Sorry but this is not funny. I know what you are trying to say but what happened is still horrible and one can only pray, that the KHL has improved in that regard.
st being Pasha once again, to be honest I wouldn't have hold it against him if he decided to stay in the KHL but I am obviously happy that he decided to return and signed an extension.

I didn't read it as a funny comment. I read it as a serious valid point and a real consideration, as well as a poignant commentary on the state of the infrastructure over there, including significant aspects such as emergency medical preparedness at rinks, player medical coverage in general, etc.

Especially coming from F Michael; dude is usually spot on with his insights.

#2430456 Datsyuk Interview

Posted by T.Low on 17 July 2013 - 03:12 AM

Tell us how does iPhone Siri knows you are the Magic Man?

“How? Well, I picked up the phone and called Apple. I said ‘Let’s do this! It will be a great project!’

"And it turned out to be great, everyone is happy. It was easy. You just need to have the right connections!”

I love Dats.  He should be interviewed every game....twice.

10 bucks!

#2428450 Brunner Contract Talks

Posted by T.Low on 07 July 2013 - 12:38 PM

Brunner  has the most deadly shot on the team.  It seemed like 50% of his goals last year were terrific snipes that were placed just right, places other shooters would have been less likely to hit in the heat of battle.

And close in around the net, others just jamb away but he lifts it up and through holes.

His defense is underrated.  He is good with his stick, can thief from behind, poke and agitate well, and  the smaller ice is much easier for him to cut off passing lanes than it was in Europe.

Too often people mistake skating slowly through shooting lanes for floating.  He is not the guy you want mucking for pucks in the corner.  He is the guy that finds open shooting angles so the corner mucker can get the puck out to him for a one timer.

Even when he has struggled and been ineffective and shut down all game long, he can find that open part of the ice in the chaos of the game's last minute of play, and bury the puck in the back of the net better than anyone else on the team.

While Nyquist, Tatar, and Brunner are very similar players, they are not carbon copy's of each other.  They each have unique strengths and all add value to this team.  But noboby has a deadly and confident shot like Damian Brunner, and at the end of the game, it's all about getting goals in the net.  We need a guy who's primary obsession in life is to score goals, and he is it, and at a pretty good price.

#2427977 who's on their way out of Detroit

Posted by T.Low on 06 July 2013 - 10:46 AM

Nyquist. Datsyuk. Franzen
Zetterberg Weiss. Alfredsson
Tatar. Andersson. Bertuzzi
Abdelkader Helm. Miller/Tootoo

Emmerton
Eaves
Sammy

No one knows if Helm is going to be able to play unfortunately, btw.

Your post is a good illustration of the fact that
With this roster, the line combos are virtually endless. Babcock is going to have fun matching up against other teams and keeping chemistry fresh.
