#2443988 Monday 1 PM start time?

Posted by T.Low on 13 October 2013 - 02:47 PM

Doesn't appear to be a typo, what's the deal with a Monday matinee? Making room for Tigers and Red Sox that evening?

That's 10 AM out of here. I'll be having second breakfast and watching the game. Ha ha

#2443336 is anyone happy right now?

Posted by T.Low on 11 October 2013 - 10:02 AM

It's not about coming out of the gate on fire. Sure everyone likes to have a good start.

But instead of starting hot like years past and then fading, like San Jose, I'd rather take some time and get hot later in the year going into the playoffs. If we have a season similar to last year and then get hot going into the playoffs, I'm good with that.

#2442792 Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV

Posted by T.Low on 09 October 2013 - 02:02 AM

I like Brunner and think he could've been a nice addition here, but here's a pretty good example of why he would not be guaranteed a spot in the top 6.  It is something he could've worked his way up to, but he's not defensively responsible enough at the moment to earn that ice time.  At least not under Babcock.

(it's a blog that occasionally picks a play and gives a good analysis of what happened and where the breakdowns occurred).

My favorite part is this summation of what it means to be defensively responsible:

It's similar to Ovechkin after 2 games having 4 goals and somehow still managing to be a minus 4.  ?!!

I'd seriously like to read his break down of that.

Excellent post thank you. Nuggets like this are reason #1 why I continue to sift through all the bs on LGW.

lol, seriously?  Brunner fought off the defenceman to maintain position on the first goal, and on the other was cool enough to hold onto the puck for the fraction of a second he needed to elevate the puck over the goalie.

If scoring goals was as easy as hanging around the crease and poking rebounds home, Phil Esposito wouldn't be the only person to do it 70 times a season.  And when Tatar finally gets his chance and starts scoring these kinds of goals on a regular basis (as he did in GR) I luck forward to you calling them all lucky goals that you could have scored.

Agreed. Definitely not garbage. They were exactly the goals Crosby scores all the time

They were also a perfect example of why he should've been down low on our PowerPlay instead of up high.

He definitely has a nose for the puck, no pun intended. And yes Tatar and Nyquist would have scored those goals. Abby, maybe not the first one and probably would have positioned himself in traffic instead of back door in an open shooting lane on the second.

I guess I'm wacky, I actually hope he does well while Nyquist and Tatar do well also.

Blows me away that anyone would call those garbage goals: he was exactly where he was supposed to be and did exactly what he was supposed to do.

For the record, put me in the pro Bertuzzi category.

#2439173 Filppula to Tampa 5 yr $5 million

D and Z are just a little bit better than Filuppla.

I absolutely love D and Z. I just wish they would score more goals.

Hello? Hey, where'd everybody go?

#2438281 will you tank red wings games due to the cleary signing

Posted by T.Low on 22 September 2013 - 03:24 PM

i saw this thread on HFboards a few days ago. someone asked if any wings fan would give up on buying tickets to the games due to the cleary signing, and some posters said they'd downright not watch games on television anymore.

i'm just curious, will anyone here tank the games this year? i personally will watch the games but probably won't attend one.

I'm about ready to tank LGW for threads like this.

#2438053 Burke Wins Default Judgment Against Internet Defamers

That's pretty serious defamation.  Good for Burke to sue and win.

Thread title is totally misleading.

Edit:  Thread title has been changed.

Tatar is worthy of a serious look with D and Z.

#2436348 Torts on Twitter: "most narcissistic thing I have ever seen"

Posted by T.Low on 12 September 2013 - 07:01 PM

I heard the interview on Vancouver's team 1040. Wasn't that big of a deal. He said Twitter has its place; he and his wife organize a charity dog walk that brings in a lot of money for Humane Society. He said Twitter was great promoting the event.

All he really said was that of course what goes on in the locker room stays in the locker room and not on Twitter.

Narcissistic comment was when pro athletes feel the need to tweet" eating a roast beef sandwich then I'm going to the bathroom", and that was actually pretty damn funny.

So far the Vancouver media thinks he's awesome. He has given some excellent interviews with a lot of hockey insight.

#2436133 Cleary re-signs with Detroit, 1 year, $1.75m deal

Posted by T.Low on 12 September 2013 - 11:28 AM

I wish I could fly to Traverse City and shake Dan Cleary's hand.

In this day and age of pro athletes chasing the Big $ at all costs, the guy walked away from millions of dollars, put his ego aside, crawled back to the negotiation table to eat some major crow, all so he could stay with friends,  teammates, and an organisation and town that he loves.

Cleary went toe to toe with one of Detroit's all time biggest nemesis, Chris Pronger, he went after Dion Phaneuf, knocking him silly, then getting an assist on the goal. He's scored numerous playoff game winning goals.  Even when he's basically duck taped together, he's still finishing checks and jumping into scrums. He is a winner, he is the epitome of a team heart and soul guy, he has hands, grit, and smarts.  He is a major contributor at all costs.

$1.75m!  Talk about a Hometown Discount!

Totally glad he's back. And frankly, I can't see him really giving a s*** what number is on his jersey, as long as the logo is the Winged Wheel.
