#2445841 The Daniel Alfredsson Appreciation Thread

Posted by T.Low on 18 October 2013 - 10:45 AM

I like Bert on the top line for most of the game and then switching it up with Alfie. I think they can make the switch seamlessly, but it really throws off the defense

When that line scored last night all I could think of was " old guys rule "when they school the young guys.---Me being an old guy, of course.

The way Zetterberg has come out of the gate, it's as if he wants to make sure Alfie gets the Stanley Cup on his watch. All of Sweden will love Z for getting Alfie the Cup.

#2445834 Kronwall Injury Update

wow what a big d-bag this announcer is.

I had to listen to that ****** bag last night on Center ice. He changed his tune right away, sounded like his producer got in his ear and told him what a moron he was.

And before that I perused HF boards Colorado to learn a little more about the team ( as if) All they did was trash the city of Detroit.

Pure class on both fronts.

Well guys, you got your wish.  An injury to open up cap space and a roster spot.
I hope you're all ****ing happy now.

It's pretty early in the season, but you've got a good chance for stupid post of the year.

#2445172 10/17 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Avalanche 2

Childhood?  Now you make me feel old.  It was a big part of my middleagedhood.
Go Wings.  Crush Roy.

You'll always be a young woman to me: I would always play on the little league all star team with Pat LaFontaine while growing up.

#2445048 Lineup Crunch: Who's going?

Posted by T.Low on 16 October 2013 - 07:17 PM

I am really starting to worry about Holland. If he is this loyal to Sammy, what's it going to be like when Babcock starts losing?

If Babbs keeps Tatar on the bench much longer, I'll be ready for Blashill.

It's time to scratch Mule and put in Tomas Tatar.

#2444588 Red Wings Dream Team

Posted by T.Low on 15 October 2013 - 02:01 AM

Well if I'm dreaming, then I'm on Datsyuks left wing and I am as big as Bertuzzi and as fast as Helm, with Z on the other wing, Lids and Vladdy on the blue line in front of Hasek. That's my Red Wings Dream Team

Besides, as GMR has mentioned, we'd still be down one scoring winger.

Nyquist and Tatar are our scoring wingers: they will more than make up for Franzens goals.

#2444023 Monday 1 PM start time?

What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper?[/quote]

If you eat 2nd breakfast, then you can skip lunch for a nooner. Unless you have a tenner, then you go ahead and eat lunch.

I'm sure you know what a nooner is. And of course, tenner is a nooner, only sooner.

Doesn't appear to be a typo, what's the deal with a Monday matinee? Making room for Tigers and Red Sox that evening?

That's 10 AM out of here. I'll be having second breakfast and watching the game. Ha ha

#2443336 is anyone happy right now?

Posted by T.Low on 11 October 2013 - 10:02 AM

It's not about coming out of the gate on fire. Sure everyone likes to have a good start.

But instead of starting hot like years past and then fading, like San Jose, I'd rather take some time and get hot later in the year going into the playoffs. If we have a season similar to last year and then get hot going into the playoffs, I'm good with that.

#2442792 Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV

Posted by T.Low on 09 October 2013 - 02:02 AM

I like Brunner and think he could've been a nice addition here, but here's a pretty good example of why he would not be guaranteed a spot in the top 6.  It is something he could've worked his way up to, but he's not defensively responsible enough at the moment to earn that ice time.  At least not under Babcock.

(it's a blog that occasionally picks a play and gives a good analysis of what happened and where the breakdowns occurred).

My favorite part is this summation of what it means to be defensively responsible:

It's similar to Ovechkin after 2 games having 4 goals and somehow still managing to be a minus 4.  ?!!

I'd seriously like to read his break down of that.

Excellent post thank you. Nuggets like this are reason #1 why I continue to sift through all the bs on LGW.

#2442099 Devils sign Brunner 2 yrs. $2.5 million AAV

Posted by T.Low on 05 October 2013 - 01:22 PM

lol, seriously?  Brunner fought off the defenceman to maintain position on the first goal, and on the other was cool enough to hold onto the puck for the fraction of a second he needed to elevate the puck over the goalie.
If scoring goals was as easy as hanging around the crease and poking rebounds home, Phil Esposito wouldn't be the only person to do it 70 times a season.  And when Tatar finally gets his chance and starts scoring these kinds of goals on a regular basis (as he did in GR) I luck forward to you calling them all lucky goals that you could have scored.

Agreed. Definitely not garbage. They were exactly the goals Crosby scores all the time

They were also a perfect example of why he should've been down low on our PowerPlay instead of up high.

He definitely has a nose for the puck, no pun intended. And yes Tatar and Nyquist would have scored those goals. Abby, maybe not the first one and probably would have positioned himself in traffic instead of back door in an open shooting lane on the second.

I guess I'm wacky, I actually hope he does well while Nyquist and Tatar do well also.

Blows me away that anyone would call those garbage goals: he was exactly where he was supposed to be and did exactly what he was supposed to do.
