#2361882 Ed Olczyk, professional broadcaster, professional idiot

Posted by T.Low on 27 February 2013 - 11:20 AM

God I really miss when ESPN had the NHL broadcasting rights.

I HATE Mike "DRIVE" Emrick and Ed Olczyk with a passion. I want Gary Thorne and Bill Clemente back.

This is the only thing I've ever seen you post that I disagree with.  I like "...a DRIVE...".  Like the enthusiasm, especially after having to listen to Major Homers Greg Husum and John Shorty Shorthouse all the time.

I wish I could hit "ignore" on my Yamaha sound system for Olczk, though.

Mickey was right when he siad Toots knows his job and not letting Big Rig break a hand or something and risk injury in a fight.  Imagine Ericsson out for a month after that fight.

Looking at your user name and avatar and reading your text so far, I cannot expect there is anything on your blog worth reading.  Paste a paragraph or two if you want to try to hook me.

#2354808 State of Hockey; High school drama

I can't stand attitudes like this. All of this is easy to say from behind a keyboard. And maybe they did, we don't know. It's just fun to judge so we're judging. Like I said it's probably just him being a stupid kid but we don't know. I just know that it's not always cut and dried and sometimes roles can reverse and actions can become justified with a little more info.

Wrong.  There is absolutely no place in hockey for a move like that.  No place in team sport of any kind.  No justification whatsoever.   Nobody needs to know the story, because none of them end like that except the "He's af****** idiot" story.

If you don't agree with what is going on, or if you feel you have been wronged, let them know why you will not be suiting up.

#2354250 Patrick Marleau

Posted by T.Low on 11 February 2013 - 02:18 PM

Maybe Z hasn't gotten a goal in 5 games, but he still has 6 assists in those 5 games, nothing wrong with that. As for Marleau and Thornton, as you pointed out haven't even gotten a single point in their last 5 games, so I will still take Z over either of those goons

I agree.  While I do have a certain amount of respect for Thornton and Marleau's repsective games, a scoreless Zetterberg game usually has more impact than a scoreless Marleau or Thornton game.

Can't watch the game... :(

How Tatar/Mrazek/Tootoo are doing?

Toots hasn't had much opportunity but he's finishing his checks hard and while I wouldn't say he's wreaking havoc in front of the net, atleast he's got a bit of a presence there.

Mrazek is quick as a cat.  Goes down and is up into position super quick like he's Jet Li or something.

I seriously don't understand how a team can look better at even strength as opposed to on a power play.

I honestly think they relax and slow down too much on the PP.  They try to be too patient, too cerebral. They end up "waiting" for a good shot instead of moviing the puck and moving without the puck to "create" a good shot and open rebounders.

WIngs old PP was super fast puck movement.

Buddy I'm down! Especially for one of those $1 or is (2)? Hotdog and Beer nights they always advertise. Im in coquitlam though so its a bit of a hike

I'm ok with that! (Your hike that is :) )  Yeah, I could probably get there faster, including my border crossing.  We could do the whole night for less than parking at a Canucks game, and IMO, more enjoyable.

Go Wings.

#2350422 Emmerton

Posted by T.Low on 02 February 2013 - 01:53 PM

I must be the only one who liked what I saw from Chris Conner when he was here.  He had more jump, had better speed, through more hits, and was more effective on the ice than Emmerton, Mursak, and any of the other guys rotated up for a few games.  The guy was flying.  As much as I like Clears, Conner was more effective.

If Abby isn't going to score once in a while on Helm's wing, then I think a fourth line of Conner-Abby-Toots could be really effective.

Other than him getting injured, what am I missing?

i second T Low's sediment. Appreciate the awesome GDT

Hey Neighbor, lets get a bunch of us Vancouver area Wings fans together and go see the Griffins when they come to Abbotsford! (But that's another thread...)

Thanks for doing the GDT for us.  You do excellent work.  It's a hoot to be able to come here and get that pertinent info for each game, especially in such asthetic fashion.  It truely is part of my great game day experience.

As Lids was a worhy successor to Yzerman for the Captaincy, and Z after him, you, sir, have done Aflac proud.

GO Wings!  Keep the momentum rollin.

Just got my tickets for the game- it will be a sell-out or close to it. Unfortunately, I will be sitting where CBJ attacks twice. Good to see the Wings in person again after I missed out on the first game in Columbus.

Way to Represent!

Refs must have realized that the Wings PP needed anything that it could in that 5 min major call.

I think they  called it on purpose thinking the Wings would never score on their Power Play, giving St Louis a better chance to win.

We REALLY need some whistles at Red Wings games... just sayin. Listen, you all know it's going to happen eventually, might as well get used to the idea. :D

NO, please, no!  Just stand up and cheer everytime and rock the house!

#2349159 Zetterberg's Great But...

Posted by T.Low on 30 January 2013 - 12:01 PM

Since we'll probably finish 3rd in the Division and 6th in the Conference, I'm looking forward to some "so called" Red Wings fans to jump ship over to St. Louis or Chicago. Go annoy Blues and Hawks fans.

Some people's comments on the team after only 6 games is ridiculous. This is a very entertaining team to watch! They have a lot of grit (something these same people were complaining about in previous seasons). The Wings haven't played like this seen since the late 1990's, and they seem to be hitting their stride.

Just sit back and enjoy.

Yesterday, against the Stars was really the only good game so far.  It was classic Detroit hockey. The Minny game had glimpses of good play during the 2nd and 3rd periods. The rest were kinda painful and laborius to watch.

I don't mnd the ridiculous comments as long as I get to comment back.
