Good streams?  Sorry, didn't go back through posts to find streams.

That's a lot of searching.  Anyone want to help out with streams?

#2061516 "Smith is NHL Ready" - Ken Holland

Posted by Doggy on 11 November 2010 - 07:05 PM

So... What are you waiting for Mr.Holland? This is what obviously differs red wings' from other franchises, any other franchise would let Smith play in their lineup but not kenny... yeah yeah they've had alot of success by keeping ready players in the AHL, but 15mins a night in the NHL would develope Smith quiet a lot as well...i'm certain of it.

I totally misunderstood you, Mindfly.

I used to think you were a troll, and I'm sure on some occasions that was true of you. But after reading your input in this thread it has become painfully obvious. You are just indescribably stupid.

#2056065 Datsyuk stay at home defesneman?

Posted by Doggy on 01 November 2010 - 06:43 PM

except the story is from detroit

Uhhhh yes that's right. The game was played in Detroit so that's where the story is coming from.

It's Detroit's fault a writer from The Tenesseean thought Datsyuk was a defenseman?

#2053539 Mike Babcock puts third line on notice

Posted by Doggy on 27 October 2010 - 09:28 PM

I'm really worried that Modano is going to get benched, say it's not what he signed up for, and because he was already close to retiring call it quits mid-season.

If that were to happen, that'd be a positive thing. Someone who gives up that easily is not required for a Stanley Cup run. Passion, commitment and sacrifice are required and a prima donna who quits that easy has none of that.

#2042056 Abdelkader out, Bertuzzi questionable for tomorrow's opener

Posted by Doggy on 08 October 2010 - 03:09 PM

Yet being able to call up Maltby, on the same salary as Ritola, makes sense how...

Maltby had to clear waivers too, dude. Someone had to be sent down, we were at our roster limit. Ritola (and Maltby) just couldn't cut it when given the chance. How many chances does he need?

You make it sound like Maltby was a preference over Ritola.

Why the HECK didn't we put Draper/Abby on short term IR and give Ritola a week to prove himself? Gosh.   :ranting:

Because of the salary cap.

#2030330 Kirk Maltby nearing 1 year, 2 way deal

Posted by Doggy on 31 August 2010 - 03:23 AM

I'm fine if its a two way deal... welcome back malts

Why would a fan possibly care if it's a two-way deal or not? Do you pay his salary?

#2028293 GDT logo

Posted by Doggy on 22 August 2010 - 04:28 PM

Okay. I don't want to step on any toes here. You did a great job with the GDT's last season. I'll see how it goes. But with all this in mind, perhaps I might not be the most appropriate person to take care of this stuff?

Just leave the logos on. Matt's cool with it and that's all that matters. You've probably put in dozens of hours of work into this and you deserve credit. They look great and are the main reason I began to frequent your blog last season.

HT001, to be frank, you're lucky these images are being offered to you at all. From the outside looking in, one might think you're trying to get all the credit for someone elses hard work, and that's why you want his logos removed.

#2017919 Antti Niemi files for arbitration

Posted by Doggy on 22 July 2010 - 12:29 AM

Thanks eva, I figured you had the definitive word. how about after arby? should they come to terms, can he be traded this season?

I can't imagine Niemi being slotted below Halak or Rinne. I bet it goes *at least* $3.5M. Wouldn't the Hawks problem be worsened if Huet was rostered? sure I barely grasp that +10% cap offseason overage concept... but i'd imagine carrying his $5.6M cap hit surely is going to hurt more than the benefit of his play will offset.

Arbitration is just a way of settling contract disputes for RFA's. It's not a special type of contract. A player whose contract was agreed to after arbitration is no different to any other player whose contract was not. Arbitration just gives the two sides a number.

So unless they agree to a contract with a NTC, yes they can trade him.

The only thing I can think of that may have confused you is offer sheets. A player signed on a matched offer sheet can't be traded for a year I think.

Might need to fix this one up a touch for you.

My prediction, they lose Niemi, keep Sharp and start Huet. Get penalized by the NHL for going over the cap and dress only 17 players. And lose most of the bandwagon fans.

Balance has been restored to the Force...

#2017865 Clarke MacArthur

Posted by Doggy on 21 July 2010 - 09:20 PM

No matter how much cap space you have, you don't want to be throwing money away by overpaying a guy like Clarke MacArthur $2.4 Million.I agree with their decision to let him go.They've got a few spots to fill with the departures of Slava Kozlov,Maxim Afinogenov,Colby Armstrong, and Pavel Kubina, not to mention Christoph Schubert.

Yeah. Sadly for Atlanta, the arbitrator was obviously unaware at the time that David Perron was about the sign a 2 year/$4.3m. A cap hit of $2.15m and clearly a much better RFA of a comparable age.

Perron's contract really highlights the ridiculousness of MacArthur award.

...and people were pissed at what the arbitrator gave Hudler.

#2017858 Clarke MacArthur

Good point.

Plus they have like $27m in cap space.

Although, it does make me curious about their decision to decline to sign MacArthur.

Any chance they could lose Brent Seabrook?:o

It would be far from Bowman's first choice. If someone gives him an offer sheet next off-season, it could well be worth a first-, second- and third-round pick to the Hawks. Maybe even two first and the others.

Sharp is a bigger cap hit, for two seasons, after which he'll become a UFA and they'll get zero in lieu of his absence. Plus, Bowman being the son of his father, I'm sure he believes in building from defense.

With this in mind, IMO it makes much more sense to move Sharp than Seabrook.

#2017852 Clarke MacArthur

Posted by Doggy on 21 July 2010 - 08:52 PM

I just wonder if Ladd and Eager are awarded similar salaries through arbitration as was MacArthur, the Thrashers might let them go too?So pencil in Todd White and Dustin Byfuglien. If Ladd and/or Eager leave,Cormier could be a possibility.

Ladd would likely get $3m from an arbitrator when compared to MacArthur's. He'd probably be worth it to them. It'd be stupid to trade for them and not sign them though.
