Last I looked you guys don't have any serious fighters that can chuck knuckles. You guys might have the speed and skill but you don't have the muscle.

But what we do have is SCOREBOARD. Go give Ben Affleck a massage, chowderhead.

edit: spelling

#2511423 4/18 ECQF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 @ Bruins 0. DET leads series 1-0

Posted by Internet.Unknown on 19 April 2014 - 11:21 AM

I saw this this morning, it's a Bruins fans reaction as he's leaving the game....Some good moments http://m.youtube.com...h?v=MnVwAdlf99M

Two minutes of an illiterate rambling. I'm dumber for having watched that.

#2507719 bashing skid the kid

Posted by Internet.Unknown on 09 April 2014 - 04:20 PM

Stevie was quite the whiner too back in his younger days and had a bit of a temper. (Of course no Wings fan would ever admit to that!)

Are you claiming you aren't a Wings fan? :P

Babcock has said that Glendening is as competitive as some of the game's greats (Yzerman, Crosby have been mentioned). There is more to this kid than his offensive stats.

Could be a 25 goal scorer next year

Could be a 25 goal scorer THIS year.

#2492445 Nicklas Lidstrom:Greatest Red Wing Ever

Posted by Internet.Unknown on 07 March 2014 - 01:40 PM

I didn't see Howe play, so I cannot comment on him.

I suspect those who claim Lidstrom was the better Wing (and that's what this thread is titled--the better Wing not player) didn't see Yzerman carry this team on his back before Lidstrom arrived. Throughout the 80's, the Wings were Steve Yzerman and not much else.

Listening to Lidstrom speak last night, it's clear that he believes Steve is the greatest Wing of all time.

#2491702 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

i'm embarrassed to be a red wings fan today.

thanks a lot, ken.

Isn't that every day for you, fat guy?

I swear I'd jarnkrok is involved for a 3rd line center rental I'm changing teams ... I'd be pissed if he was involved for kesler but at least he's locked in for 2 yrs this makes no f'n sense

Better be a hoax

Legwand isn't worth 4-5per ....max I'd offer is 3.75 for 2-3 yrs unless we ship off weiss he'd be our 3rd line center

You're still here almost 4 hours later?

There's definitely half a pint of beer in the pint glass: wether it's half full or half empty is up to you.

I'm going with half full. A playoff season missed does not help Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan, Andy, Weiss , Jurco, and Smith gain valuable playoff experience. Legwand helps us get by until the Calvary returns, then once the playoffs begin, as we saw last year, all bets are off. If healthy, we've actually got a damn good lineup.

Somehow, with no top 20 picks since 1991, our prospects managed to win the Calder Cup and produce the Butterfield winner . Jarnkrok is no Pulkkinen, and it's not like we don't have guys in the pipeline ahead and behind him.

Someone who gets it. :)

#2491288 21 games to make it 23 years

Posted by Internet.Unknown on 05 March 2014 - 07:52 PM

Okay, again in the NHL over 50% of the teams make the playoffs.

To give you an idea how easy it is lets compare it to the NFL and MLB

In the MLB there are 30 teams, 8 make the playoffs. Percent of teams that make it any given year: 26%

In the NFL there are 32 teams, 12 teams make the playoffs. Percent of teams that make it any given year: 37.5

In the NHL has 30 teams, 16 make the playoffs. Percent of teams that make it any given year: 53%

Not really as big a deal compared to other leagues, now is it?

You're doing a lot of google research but missing the point. No team has ever made the playoffs for 30 years in a row, the NHL included. The Wings are 7 years away. Doesn't matter if "over 50% of the teams make the playoffs." It matters that no team has ever done it. No in any sport. Not in the history of the world.

Keep rooting for your team to lose, though, that's what true fans do.

Yeah, and you're pretty short sighted to not see that once the Blackhawks started to play the Wings seriously it was over. After game 4 the the Wings scored 5 goals in 3 games, it wasn't as close as people like to pretend it was.

Cute! I must have hit a nerve.

Did I say anything about the Hawks being the better team? Nope. They were and it played out that way. What I did say was that the Wings took them to a seven game series. It was exciting. It was fun. It was playoff hockey.

I'll take 14 thrilling postseason games over an earlier trip to the draft day podium every year.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions would be happy to have another "fan" who wants their team to lose in the hopes of acquiring a higher draft pick.

Again, people keep talking about a playoff streak in a league where more teams make the playoffs than miss it. It's really not that special. Want something special? Once the Wings can start challenging the Habs for number of cups I will be really impressed.

It isn't that special to YOU, maybe, but it is special to sports and to people who can objectively appreciate the historic nature of the record. No team in professional sports has made the playoffs for THREE DECADES straight. It's nigh impossible. Yet the Wings are closing in. I hope they break it.

What's the point of making the playoffs. ? This team would be get absolutely grilled against Boston or Pittsburgh also now they need to look for a top center prospect in the upcoming. Draft.

What's the point? To keep the streak alive on the way to thirty straight years.

Yeah, where they get beaten by Boston or Pittsburgh and Holland stays the course. They are far better off missing the playoffs, taking the top 14 pick, and taking a long look in the mirror.

Yuck. This board is getting as bad as a Detroit Lion's board. "Let's tank the season for a better draft pick."

#2491172 Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

Posted by Internet.Unknown on 05 March 2014 - 06:20 PM

And after they get bounced from the playoffs we get to hear Holland dust off the old gem of a speech 'well its important to get into the playoffs, anything can happen, had a bounce gone our way' etc etc etc. The realistic outcome of this trade is the Wings sold more of their future to keep a streak alive that is meaningless anyway.

I've brought this up a couple of times in other threads and received no response throughout the season. The playoff streak clearly is NOT "meaningless" to the Wings' brass.

Sure, some fans (younger ones, I suspect, who don't remember the last time the team missed the post season) are willing to dismiss the streak's significance with a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately mindset. "Why only make the playoffs to lose in 4-6 games? A high draft pick is more valuable long term."

How terribly shortsighted.

In failing to make the playoffs, the Wings would reset 22 years of chasing a 29-year-old record. Prospects come and go. Making the playoffs for thirty straight years doesn't. Doing so would be more than once in a lifetime. It would be once in the history of hockey.

Does this mean that I like the Legwand trade? Not particularly. But the Wings were in desperate need of a center while trying desperately to make the playoffs for a consecutive 23rd year.

I, for one, am glad they're trying to keep the streak alive. Breaking the longest playoff streak in pro sports would be a huge feather in the Wings' collective cap, one that every fan should wear with enormous pride.

Go Wings!

Can 'Weiss', and 'dominant' be used in the same sentence?

He's done well dominating the injury list. I'm still hopeful that he can turn it around.
