Baby Zetterberg repping Detroit in Swedish magazine.

Detroit cap and prison onesie. Hmm.

#2675651 Doug Houda hired as an assistant coach

He played for some of those fun Wings teams in the late 80's.

I met him and Stevie Y. at a Little Caesars opening near my home in '89 (?). I said "Hello, Mr. Yzerman. Hi, Doug."

Nonsense. This is why the article is a "fanpost" and not by one of the actual writers of WIIM:

"Lifetime fans of the organization – especially those of younger generations – no longer have confidence in the team. It’s clear that this is exactly what Holland intended"

Yes, Holland has intentionally sought to undermine fans' confidence in the team. Dumb fan post is dumb.

Was listening to Sirius NHL radio...Apparently Marc Crawford wants to make a return behind an NHL bench...Is there anyone else out there that would love him behind our bench?

I'd take him in a heartbeat!

#2670782 Fixing this mess....

I feel like I'm one of the few people around here who don't think we look too bad going forward. And that our "down years" aren't all that down. We will be as good or better next year than we were this year. Even without Datsyuk. Two years from now we will be really good. We've already got our next first and second line centers in the organization. We've got two higher end goal scorers in Nyquist and Tatar. We have quality supplementary power forwards in Abby and Mantha. And we've got a future franchise goalie. Our defense needs work, and even its not as bad as people think. We are in a position now where our old guys are too old, and our young guys aren't quite there yet. What we need is time, for our next generation to mature. That's it. Chasing guys like Backes or Lucid would only put this team in the same spot its already in...just two or three years from now.

All I want from Holland and company is to commit fully to the kids in the off season, and improve the defense if possible without losing anything significant.

You also thought the offense would really improve under Blash.

Which would ownership and management prefer?

(A) Make the playoffs, earn millions of dollars in playoff revenue even for a first round loss, and keep the Streak alive.

(B) Miss the playoffs, end the Streak, and move up 4-6 spots in the draft.

Anyone who thinks the Wings do not prefer option (A) needs to reevaluate.

Glad this happened. Is Cuthbert still available?

I wish Tangradi would get a 10-game stretch on the Wings' 4th line. Let's see what a big body with some snarl can do on this team.

Waive a player, gets claimed: Holland sucks!

Wave a player, clears: Holland sucks!

Not every team had that amount of money to spend on players, and a lot of the big name guys came here to team up with the crazy amount of big named talent already on our team to win a cup.

How would you know, you were in diapers back then. :P

On a serious note, I just get tired of people (not you) blaming the lack of a salary cap on the Wings' past success. Yzerman, Fedorov, Lidstrom, Konstantinov, the Grind Line -- these core players were cultivated by the team, not mercenaries bought in to win a championship. The Wings became a winner because they sucked in the 80's and drafted well into the early 90's. Even Shanny coming to Detroit was the result of a 1st round pick.

Bye Howard
Bye kindl
Bye line combos

Seriously how do you have Richards 3 goals and helm 3 goals playing with datsyuk? Who's supposed to score?

I'm okay with Richards. Like Green, he seems to be warming up. Helm, though, should be a permanent 4th liner. Why not switch Jurco with Helm on Dats' line? Let's see once and for all if the kid can play at the NHL level. Give him 10 games with the Magic Man.
