I would be surprised if Holland has not contacted Anaheim about Ryan.... with all the players being acquired yesterday, I have to believe a trade is a real possibility.  If Kenny contacted Columbus on multiple occasions regarding Nash, then you can bet he has kicked the tires on Bobby Ryan.

Red Wings fans barely know what does it mean to play good as a goaltender. Look at Rinne, Lunquist, Quick, Brodear, well even Backstrom. Those G are playing good. Howard is playing satisfactory with some good games in-between. That's why Gus would be nice for us to have. At least, we''l have a chance to have a good G.

Howard, prior to hitting the injury bug around mid/late season, was being mentioned for the Vezina. His numbers were that good, and he had to start more games because our backup situation was not working out that well.  Howard is just as good as every goalie you mentioned.

The Wings average age with all current roster players as of June 2nd, 2012 is 28.35 years.

Compare that to Pittsburgh... they come in at an average age of 29.32, even with their young stars.

If I missed anyone, it shouldn't have that huge of an effect on the calculations:

I would take Mueller in a heartbeat.... The kid is very good, and highly skilled.  He has just had bad luck  with injuries, but he is still young and I'm sure we could pick him up without breaking the bank, obviously.  Of course, I mean this as a move if we cannot obtain Parise, Semin, or Ryan via trade.

Bobby Ryan was a second overall pick. 4 straight 30 goal seasons. He is 25 years old. Do any of these prospects have that kind of a start in them? Or are we guessing? I don't like guessing. He is signed, we know his cap number, it's all right there. You know what you're getting, you know where to slot him, he can start Game One and finish Game 82 for the next 10 years if you want. That's what we need...in MY opinion. NHL stud talent, not maybes.

Yes, I completely agree with you, but it takes two teams to make a deal happen.  If Anaheim doesn't like what pieces we have to offer, then no deal... and that is not a stretch to imagine that could be the case.  You also don't know how serious they are about trading him.  They could just be kicking the tires to see what's out there.

no doubt. teams need to get fleeced in trades for one to get better. its not often that a trade turns out AMAZING for both teams. dog eat dog. holland just refuses to play with the dogs.

Please just stop assuming things.... you're just coming off stupid.  It takes two to tango, and If the Wings don't necessarily have the same pieces that other teams would offer, then no deal will get done.  To think that Holland is not playing right now, is asinine.  He enjoys his job, I'm sure he wants to keep it.

no way  i know quincey has struggled but i think he'll have a bounce back year , i think hes a better defensemen overall i really cant see ian white coming back after the next season he just looked good cause of lidstrom

It's just not going to happen.  The Wings don't guarantee rosters spots, especially to someone who has never played a professional-level game....  It doesn't matter how good he's "projected" to be, it just won't happen.  The kid is going to have to come here ready to battle for a spot, and if he is as good as people make him out to be, he'll be on the roster.

While I can see the value in trading White, I would only see him being traded in a multi-player deal for someone who improves the team.  White is a solid d-man, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well he does this upcoming season.

Same can be said for Quincey, I'm not as high on him, but I am willing to give him a shot and see how he performs with a full season and being used to his linemates and the Wings playing style.  He showed he can play a pretty damn good game in LA and Colorado, so we'll see.

This is in no way to be taken as me saying we shouldn't take a run at Schultz... I think we'd be foolish not to, but there are 29 other teams doing the same and I'm sure many who will guarantee him a spot, regardless of whether we do or not.

Reality check..  Hudler most recently made what?  2.8 million?  There isn't a chance in hell he'll play for us at 3 million, so let's just clear that up right now.  He'll easily get 4 million with several other teams, and that's why we should just stop talking about him.  He's all about the money, and one dimensional.... I'd much rather let Nyquist/Sheahan have his time and see what they can do.  I'd also like for us to stop wasting Eaves away on the 4th line, the guy can pot 20 goals if you give him he time and linemates.

I would take a chance on Markov... the guy has extreme upside if he can stay healthy, and that's the biggest draw with him (IF).  Still, maybe the different style of hockey in Detroit could help him not be so injured all the time, not to mention, he wouldn't have to have the pressure of being "the guy" here.

Bertuzzi WILL be on the third line, while filling in the top 6 when injuries or slow production occurs.  He will also assume Holmstrom duties in front of the net on the powerplay from time to time.

And he is a solid guy to have in the bottom 6 with some specialties that do help the squad.  He is not by any means a slug out there.. he skates well enough and won't be pushed around.  I'm happy to have him as a 3rd liner who can put up 35-50 pts.

Why not kill 2 birds with one stone if you are looking at Nabokov as an option.  Make a trade for Nabokov and Moulson/Okposo...  I know that it seems unlikely to get some of the players from NYI since they are younger, but man it would be pretty sweet to get a bigger winger like Moulson...
