#2183913 Latest Rumor: NHL Team Expected to Announce Rebranding in 2012

Never been done before, eh. I say Warner Bros. buys the Coyotes and they will be called the Roadrunners at home and remain the Coyotes on the road.

#2181808 Atlanta Thrashers move to Winnipeg

To all the young punks who think my NHLPA'93 on the Sega Genesis is outdated-you guys look really foolish now as your new games have the Thrashers while mine has a Winnipeg team.

Part 2 of the Bettman plan: Move the Coyotes to Atlanta and the new Winnipeg team back to Phoenix.

Just as the octopus in the depths of the Indian ocean off the coast of Indonesia cowers in fear whenever it sees the mighty shark, so too will the Wings be unable to muster up the courage to play an effective game against the juggernaut San Jose franchise.

That Pittsburgh crowd was so quiet, I know they get monster TV ratings but their crowd is very underwhelming.

#2138214 Coyotes file for Bankruptcy/City pays 25mil to keep them

Coyotes conspiracy theories;

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/columnists/coyotes-conspiracy-theories-far-fetched-118487434.html

First up is an email straight from the Oliver Stone conspiracy desk.

Sen. John McCain climbed out of his seat at Jobing.com Arena to lobby for Matthew Hulsizer and the plight of the Coyotes on Sunday night.

McCain asked the Goldwater Institute to stand down and ignore what they believe to be constitutional issues in order to keep the hockey team in Glendale.

McCain pointed to paid consultant and former Arizona attorney general Grant Woods as the arbiter of what is legal and what isn't.

Both men failed to mention Woods worked on this file for Ice Edge Holdings -- who are tied to current Coyotes suitor Matthew Hulsizer -- when they were attempting to buy the Coyotes.

Arizona governor Jan Brewer won't touch this subject as it's a total political loser. Why then would McCain get involved?

We got the following email from reader Bill Eva on Tuesday with his take on McCain's arrival to the party.

"If you want to figure out why Senator John McCain is involving himself in the Phoenix Coyotes mess, just follow the money.

1. Bud Light is a big sponsor of the Coyotes. Go to the www.PhoenixCoyotes.com website, and Bud Light is the first thing you will see.

2. Hensley & Co. of Phoenix is the third biggest Anheuser Busch (Budweiser) distributor in the U.S., and presumably sells a lot of beer at the Coyotes games. Even people with free tickets in a papered house still drink lots of beer at a hockey game.

3. The Chairman of the Board of Hensley & Co., and largest shareholder, is Cindy McCain (nee Hensley), wife of Senator John McCain.

4. Just follow the money."

We checked and Cindy McCain is a major shareholder of Hensley. And yes, on Tuesday when I clicked on the Coyotes website, Bud Light was the first thing that popped up.

The suggestion has been made that Goldwater is acting on behalf of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Randy Kendrick, the wife of D-backs owner Ken Kendrick, is a Goldwater board member. The theory is the absence of the Coyotes will benefit the Major League Baseball team in Arizona's troubled economic times.

Both theories seem a little far-fetched to us but they're out there, so make your own call.

#2031422 I've Never Wached Game 7 of the 2009 SCF...

Posted by Manoir on 06 September 2010 - 11:27 PM

I remember rooting for the Hawks to win game 5 so the Finals wouldn't start that weekend. Then I remember being confused why AbdelKader was not going to play in game 3 after scoring in games 1 and 2. And I'll always remember Hossa sucking for the entire series.

#2017612 NHL Rejects Kovalchuk's Contract

Posted by Manoir on 21 July 2010 - 03:04 AM

All these front-loaded contracts are dumb, including the contracts of Franzen and Zetterberg. They really go against what the salary cap was intended for. The cap hit should be what you pay a player in any particular year.

After the great send-off he got in both Dallas and Minnesota, it would be extremely anti-climatic for him to come back.He should just retire.

#1998830 How much better would we be looking with Leino and Kopecky

Posted by Manoir on 12 June 2010 - 10:12 PM

I don't know why Holland gets praise for getting guys like Cleary but then gets a pass for trading Leino. You can't praise him for seeing the potential in Cleary while at the same time absolve him of any blame for trading Leino under excuses such as well he had to dump salary,or he wasn't a good fit. If he really thought Leino had really good potential he would've moved other contracts, period. The Vancouver Canucks can use the same excuse for trading Neely, the Flames for trading Hull, oh well some players just play better elsewhere.

#1998743 Did the Hawks get a little lucky?

Posted by Manoir on 12 June 2010 - 07:06 PM

they got lucky we couldnt afford hossa thats for sure.

Yeah, don't know what the Hawks would've done without his 3 goals throughout the playoffs.
