#1916978 Puck Daddy Sidney Crosby Golden Roar Contest

Posted by titanium2 on 15 March 2010 - 11:27 PM

Just to let everyone know the 300 gif was mine.

Because I need to get glory for something as insignificant as a picture.

But you're the photoshopper. That's not insignificant.

#1914946 Filppula to be paired with Zetterberg

“Fil is a good player,” Zetterberg said. “He’s got a lot of good stuff in him, and over time I’ve gotten a chance to play with him more. He can play in a lot of situations, and he really makes good things happen and plays well. He’s a good fit for me and Cleary. Cleary’s probably one of the guys in the league that doesn’t get enough credit for the work that he does, and you know, it’s a good combination.”

Filppula said he enjoyed the move to the new line.

“Yeah, it wasn’t bad,” he said. “Obviously any guy on this team gets to play with good players, but it was fun to play with Hank and Cleary, but getting the win was the most important thing.

“I think we think a little bit alike, so that makes it easier to have an idea of where the other guys are. It was just one game though, so hopefully we can keep getting better too.”

#1914587 Gustav Nyquist-- Hockey's Future Prospect of the Month

Sorry, I was referring to Andrej Nestrasil, couldn't remember the spelling of his last name

Holy crap you're right. How could I forget about him? Jeeez.

Well he did get bumped down to the bottom six, which is part of the reason why he isn't scoring as much, which is why some have lost track on his progress and why we haven't heard all that much about him recently.

Why are you giving the Flames goalie a shoutout?

....What do you mean?

And holy crap Lilja was a second round pick? Guess that was a draft of sexiness.

Waiting for GMR's response in 5, 4, 3...

Don't forget that one Czech guy in the OHL, I remember seeing him play a bit in the World Juniors and he was impressive as well. Along with Smith, Kindl and the other few goalies, the wings have a very bright future.

... I don't get it.

If this idea is going to work at all then Filppula must be aggressive in his own right. He can't defer to Zetterberg and wait for him to make plays just because he's Z and he "has dibs on every puck". Don't get me wrong, Fil should definitely play with some respect for Z, but he's also there to do a job. If Z is getting beat all over the ice then Fil has to use his speed and so forth to more or less take over.

You're lucky I retired from flame wars, or I'd put you in your place kid.

Oh, BOOO!!! Come out of retirement! Ali, Bumaye! Ali, Bumaye! Ali, Bumaye!

One of Huet's main hobbies that he learned growing up in France is cooking. Here he demonstrates his ability to toss salads.

No?

I'm trying to think of a way to use sieve and ass. *******, but that's not really all that clever.

Also I'm not sure what to think about the new "Reputation" feature. It will point out anytime when a clear majority of people disagree with something but just because an opinion isn't popular doesn't mean it's wrong. I guess I look forward to seeing users abuse that stat in the near future. "My reputation points speak for themselves and bla bla bla..."

Glad LGW back. It was weird not having it in the daily routine for a little bit. I went to HF and RWC, which are good places overall but they just don't have as big of a party as LGW.

Oh and someone on HF or RWC said something about cliques on LGW. I'm not sure if I know what he's talking about.

Not the best showing by Jimmy tonight.

My response is similar to your response is to my post in the Eaves thread. You could say that about nearly the whole team. Babcock definitely said it.

#1807351 Andrej Nestrasil

Posted by titanium2 on 03 November 2009 - 03:39 AM

http://www.redwingsc...s/nestrasil.php

As of 11/2/09

SCOUT COMMENTS
"He's willing to pay the price every shift and he's ready to battle every shift. He's a big body, he throws his body around, he never refuses physical contact and he's always engaged ... He's not a guy you look at and say, 'He's going to be a third- or fourth-line guy in the NHL.' He's got more skill than that. If he keeps improving his skating, he could be a good offensive player in the NHL." — Victoriaville Tigres head coach Yanick Jean (June 2009) ... "He likes to take the puck to the net. He protects the puck well in the corners and he's got the hands to do it. He's got good size and he's just a good hockey player." — Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill (June 2009).

STRENGTHS
Has the offensive game of a new-age power forward ... Superb puck control, taking advantage of his ample size and strength ... Great down low and along the boards ... Capable hitter ... Willing to go into traffic and battle ... Terrific 1-on-1 moves and deadly on shootouts ... More of a playmaker with impressive vision ... Continues to take big steps forward in his development.

WEAKNESSES
Needs to pick up his skating speed and one-step quickness a few strides to be an NHLer, but will be a high-end prospect if he does ... Better speed would put more power behind his hits.

PROJECTION
The Red Wings have a highly-skilled top-six forward with size in the making if Nestrasil improves his skating, although his lack of speed was a big reason why he was still available in the third round of the 2009 draft. Nestrasil will be expected get a little bit faster, but should put up 80 to 90 points as a second-year QMJHLer with Victoriaville in 2009-10.
