Players and Number

28 August 2009 - 01:21 PM

This is nothing more than being bored and having nothing to discuss in the off season.
Come up with someway a Redwing player and number are related.
For example: 40- The nuumber of goals Zetterberg will score this season.
96- the number of times any player can cross-check Homer before a penalty is called.

And go...

Who do the pens match up against Z

02 June 2009 - 10:07 AM

For Game 3 it's pretty clear the Penguins are going to try to get Crosby away from Z lines. Now I'm assuming Babcock will leave the lines as they were for the first two games but who will the Penguins put against that line. I mean it's Z, Franzen and Cleary! That's a powerful scoring line. Can the Penguins afford to put their 3rd or 4th line against them?
Thoughts?

I don't hate any of the hawks

21 May 2009 - 11:41 AM

As I have looked over the boards for the last few days I've noticed very little emotion or anger towards the Blackhawks. Last series it seemed like there was alwys something to get mad about(even in victory)
I know we're only two games into this series and there is more than enough time for something to change, but do you find it a little hard to hate the Hawks? When we were playing the Ducks, I seriously hated about every one of their players. Getzlaf,Perry,Pronger, the brothers Neidemeyer,Selenne, Merchant, etc. The only one I didn't really hate is Bobby Ryan and I think that's only because he's a rookie. Those "guys" are some of the dirtiest players I've seen. From cross checking a guy a foot shorter than you to beating up a player with an injury after the game that did it all and I will always hate them for that.
The Hawks have... Dustine Byfuglien. He's the Hawks version somewhere between Matby and Homer. He's annoying but I don't hate him. Past that Kane, Toews, Sharp, Havlat, Campbell, Keith. I don't hate any of them at all and would want any of the on the wings save Campbell and that's just because I think he's overpaid.
Don't get me wrong I want the Wings to beat these guys into a pulp on our way to winning the cup again. I just find in this series the games are great and all but between the games, there just isn't that much to talk about.
Am I the only one that feels this way?

I can't wait for Rafi to be back

11 May 2009 - 12:24 PM

I was thinking about how good our defense in Game 5 was. Kronwall and Stuart have played right up to their ability with the exception of a less monster hits than last year. Ericcson is logging over 21 minutes and game. Lebda hasn't f*cked anything up too bad. Chelios is on the bench and Meech was a fine replacement. All of those factors have allowed Babcock to keep Lidtrom's minutes to about 26 a game.
Then the clouds rolled back and I had a revaltion. I thought to myself Holy Crap we're getting Rafi back really soon!
The number look pretty close to this according to TSN.

Lidstrom 3g 7a +7 ATOI 26:28
Stuart 1g 5a +5 ATOI 25:20
Kronwall 1g 4a +5 ATOI 25:25
Ericcson 1g 2a +5 ATOI 21:09
Lebda 0g 2 a +2 ATOI 14:26

The Rafalski 1g 2a +5 ATOI 21:54 in four games!

Even if he's not 100% Ericcson is doing fine with Lidstrom and Rafi could play limited minutes and come in for power plays until he's ready for more. And when he is just think about the Pairings then:

Lidstrom/Rafalski
Stuart/Kronwall
Ericcson/Lebda

What other team comes even close to that depth?

Hiller's pads

06 May 2009 - 07:33 AM

We lost Game 3. I get that, I really do. I think I'm more angry at the Wings for not really playing all that well in my opinion than at the refs for a bad call but last night I had a thought.
By the book the ref made the right call. Sure he was out of position, but he lost sight of the puck and blew the whistle. As much as I want it to be the wrong call it's not. If the same thing happened to Osgood and the Ducks I'd be the first yelling about how by the book that is the call that has to be made. However, that call wouldn't be made against Ozzie and almost every other goalie in the league for one simple reason. HILLER'S PADS ARE THE SAME COLOR AS THE PUCK! Ozzies pads are red and white so there is no way a black puck blends in. Most goalies pads are some color other than black. Even out of position the ref doesn't lose sight of a loose puck as easily.
With that in mind, does having black pads give a team an advantage and do you think the NHL should force goalies with black pads to change there color? If not, should Ozzie go to the store and buy some black spray paint for his pads?
