#2256283 Is Nicklas Lidstrom The Greatest Detroit Red Wing Of All Time?

Posted by miller76 on 13 February 2012 - 03:39 PM

Yeah, it is the internet so why have any pride in anything. It would be - " the words, McCarty,Draper and Lidstrom in the same sentence,"   :siren: OMG the Grammar Police are here!! :P

Lets not even get into the whole 'pride thing' around here!   Pandoras box

I think you are losing me to.  If you are having a discussion about all time greats, I don't think McCarty or Draper should even me allowed to know about the discussion, let alone be involved in it  :P

Well I am sorry you are lost.  What is it you don't understand?  I merely sated that Yzerman was my pick.  Follow me so far?  Great.  Next I implied a reason for my pick saying that players like McCarty and Draper helped solidify his great position at being an outstanding leader that they built around him with good solid players to play with.

I promise i will neverf****** use the words McCarty and Draper and Lidstrom in the same sentence, paragraph or breath ever again!  My god are we that super sensitive around here, hanging on every post and how it is completely worded?  My god it's the internet.

You went from Yzerman and Lidstrom then directly to McCarty and Draper??

Really?

I thought i made it clear on my post, that Yzerman was my pick.  I was merely throwing in great names that helped make the Yzerman era that much greater.  That guys like Draper and McCarty were built around Yzerman.

Sorry I lost you.

#2256189 What happened to Zetterberg's scoring touch?

Posted by miller76 on 13 February 2012 - 12:08 PM

Great game for Zetterberg tonight.  We need to show him so love on here!  He totally set that Franzen goal up, with that great pass to Lidstrom, that drew Coburn from Franzen in front of the net.  Great goal, great play!

That's a tough one.  We as Detroit fans are lucky to be contemplating who, the greatest was.   I think this is an endless argument with possibilities of Howe, Lindsay, Abel, and Sawchuk that paid the price early on, and built a history.  Then a kid named Yzerman that in a sense resurrected this organization single handedly in the 80's.
I think my pick would have to be Yzerman for my 1a. He was the cornerstone building block for the modern era Detroit teams.

Let me edit this.  I have seemed to hurt many feelings here today:

#2256103 Coyotes file for Bankruptcy/City pays 25mil to keep them

Posted by miller76 on 13 February 2012 - 01:32 AM

I usually attempt to steer away from this thread for certain reasons.  I have commented and been negged frequently, and even banned from lgw for a full seven days for comments.  In turn I took a lengthy break from this site, I think over a year.  I still have issues with certain mods and posters.   Its obvious from my location, I am in Arizona.  I actually live within walking distance to Westgate, which is the huge complex, that is full of retail stores, cinemas, restaurants, bars, University of Phoenix stadium, where the Arizona Cardinals play, as well as Jobing.com Arena.  This area of Glendale is very nice, no crime, no tagged walls, and no trash.

The Cardinals are the backbone of this area.  It's the NFL, so of course its a huge money maker.  But losing the Coyotes, would be huge, and it would be hard on the area.   I know that most of hockey nation, believes Arizona, Georgia,  and Florida are jokes for hockey markets.  And to be honest, its a legitimate belief.   When Carolina, Dallas, and Anaheim got their teams, the hockey world rolled their eyes, with a big wtf!  Obviously the differences are the ownership that was in place early on.  That and they achieved success with a Cup.  Aside from recent issues of the past few seasons in Dallas, those markets are viable.  Maybe not 'traditional hockey market' viable, but none the less.  If ownership here at some time prior to the BK filing fiasco, stepped up and grew a pair, this wouldn't even be a conversation.   Ownership, with Gretzky did a nice job of getting a team in place and getting people excited early on, but at a very high price.

I think a move is inevitable.  I think the league is growing tired of this burden out here.  I think Bettman is still orgasming over the quickness of the poor situation in Atlanta, and how everything was done and moved.  And somehow was able to not look like a total dips*** in the process.  That situation was quickly turning into another Phoenix debacle.  As a true Red Wing fan of 30 years, a native of Detroit, and a man who suffers from an 'emotionally abusive relationship' with his hockey team, and a resident of Glendale, Arizona, I live and die with this team, just like all of you.  The Coyotes have helped fill a void for me and my kids over the years.  We love the game.  I love talking to them about it, the discipline it takes, and how it relates to real life success.  You know, it's obvious when the Blue Jackets are in town, the majority of the filled seats are Phoenix season ticket holders, and the remainder pretty open.   When Detroit, Chicago, NY, and other marquee teams are in the building, the building is full, and almost embarrassing for the home team.  Which is not the sign of a viable, money making organization.  But make no mistake, Coyotes GM Maloney is a hell of a GM, and is the glue that has kept this team winning and making the playoffs.  He is still making deals, and refuses to acknowledge the ' could bee's'.   So when this team leaves this transient state, of snowbirds, retirees, and transplants, we as true hockey fans suffer.  This is my connection with my boys.  Its an opportunity to see Stamkos, AO, Malkin, Jagr, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom, the Kronwall Krunch, and the rest.  I see my team twice a year, and four playoff games the last two seasons.  I know no one here is concerned with Glendale, or Arizona, or their off the collar politics.  So I hope for all of you die hards wanting a team in QC or KC, Seattle, or wherever, because this situation here is draining all of your hockey happiness, I wish you good luck!  But I am not looking forward to it, nor would I support it.

Everyone wants to see all 30 teams pulling their weight.  Coyotes fans included.  They just want it resolved already.  The true Coyote fans are good, loyal, and somewhat hockey educated.  Unfortunately there just isn't a lot of them.  Though there has been substantial talk of a minor league affiliate, being a tenant, if the Coyotes left.  Which is optimistic.  Yes there would be hockey, but no Wings!

I always have believed, and still do, that you don't need cold snowy weather to love hockey.  You just need people running it, who know what the f*** they are doing!

So keep negging my posts and giving me s***, and personal insults.   It truly doesn't matter to me.

#2256092 Joey Mac

Posted by miller76 on 13 February 2012 - 12:02 AM

I would have no issues with Joey Mac being the back up the rest of the way, with one stipulation.  Either stay late after practice playing pucks around the net, or just vow to let the d-men handle those duties.

as someone who doesn't live in detroit any longer, it's great to get informed opinions on these prospects from you guys.

it's often hard to get good info and hockey's future can be waaay off about guys sometimes.

I was thinking the same thing.  I enjoy getting an inside scoop on the log jam.

#2255220 Joe Thornton... class act

Posted by miller76 on 11 February 2012 - 11:01 AM

Frustration is inevitable when you are getting your ass kicked.  That exchange between Sj and Det was a 6-1 game, you got to expect some chipiness at some point.

This is how soft the game has become.  There is a thread in a hockey forum about this little exchange.  This was every game with nearly every team before pansies starting running the league!

This is really a nice story.  My oldest son, who is 15 and is high functioning autistic, is wanting to work so much.  He wants a job badly. It's stories like this, that keep all of our heads up!  Were not as limited as sometimes we believe we are.

#2253083 Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

Posted by miller76 on 06 February 2012 - 05:01 PM

I would make multiple trades!  I would trade away multiple posters here on lgw, that have no sense of reality!

Emmerton for Parise right?  Got to be an E4 by now!

#2253082 2/6 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Coyotes 3

Posted by miller76 on 06 February 2012 - 04:50 PM

Getting ready to head out to Westgate soon for the game.  We need a good solid start, and a solid 60 minutes, no overtime BS.  Wearing my black Cleary practice jersey tonight.  We never lose when I wear it.

#2251831 How open would you be to trading Hank?

Posted by miller76 on 03 February 2012 - 12:05 PM

We got the best effen team on the ice, the envy of the league of a organization off the ice, and some aren't happy!  Trading away Z would be ridiculous!

You want to be unhappy?  Be my buddy who is a season ticket holder for the Ducks!
