Who will you support at the Olympics?

I always root for Finland after Sweden. Then Russia I think, they're usually very entertaining to watch (unlike, say, Sweden).

    Jeff Carter Obliterates Anssi Salmela

Honestly, how would you feel if your dad or brother was in a youtube video where he was declared to be "destroyed", "killed", "obliterated", "annihilated" etc? This glorification of violence is sickening. And to respond by cheering and stating that he should have "kept his head up" -- that's sociopathic, go see somebody. Every hit like this pulls me a bit further away from hockey. I simply don't see the joy in watching people risking other people's life and well being by acting like maniacs.

SCF GAME 6 GDT: Red Wings 1 at Penguins 2

What's scary is that at the end of the game, deep, deep down I wanted some Wings player to rough it up just for the sake of it. Nothing completely outrageous, just agitate someone, pick a fight, show some emotions or whatever...like most other teams do when they're losing. I'm on a limb here, but maybe this super-disciplined, rational play the Wings have -- that I've praised for many years -- maybe it isn't what one really want in sports after all. Sports is about emotions, self-sacrifice and a little bit crazyness. Personally, I probably get enough of cold logics at college they way it is (applied math). Perhaps sports should be about blood and violence after all...at least hockey. Like I said, out on a limb. At least slightly.

Well said They're an epic team, they are, but GOD are they frustrating to watch sometimes. Somebody find that on/off-switch they apparantly have somewhere and make sure it stops glitching from "on" and "off" back and forth they way it does now.

I'd usually restrain myself from using this word but hell, they seemed really laze tonight. If you wouldn't know it'd be impossible to see that this was a SCF game 6. Sloppy, undisciplined D, not much creativity on offence except from ZD and glimpses from a few others (Hudler, Flip). Franzen gotta start moving his feet and Hossa, well, I don't even know what wrong with him. Props to Pens for playing for their lives. They deserved this win the way they played. It's just that should've been able to beat them. Game 7...I'd say it depends on how bad the Wings really want it. If they hesitate the slightest, Pens will take it.

They must have replaced Helm's blood with high-octane kerosine when he was newborn.

And the Conn Smythe goes to...

Cool wife At this point, with Crosby's performance so far in the finals, it would be a very long stretch for him to get it either way it goes. He would have to put up a show like no other if he's even to be considered. Most likely Malkin or Z/Ozzy.

    Crosby is Jealous of Zetterberg

Perhaps Crosby is jealous of the one thing Hank's got that he doesn't -- hockey smarts. Until he develops that by himself, which he will in time of course, he's got every reason to be jealous. For the record, all present grudge aside, I think Crosby will be insanely good in a few years when he matures. In the long run, he'll outshine both Ovechknin and Malkin.

What makes it so hard is that you never really know what game they'll bring. It seem they can be breathtakingly impressive one night and equally disappointing the other. Anywho, tonight the Pens pretty much solved us. They had a great forecheck and interferred with out transitions, they played great D and gave us very few good scoring chances. They have learned from the previous games. Unfortunately we lacked the creativity to adapt and respond. Not even by getting in their faces. Instead, we sunk back and started toi commit errors.

Ouch, that was a painful period. Several factors playing in I think; Wings committing more errors than usual / or being caught at the wrong time (Ralf, Ericsson), very hungry and ignited Pens players, 2 consecutive PP's that turned into an SH goal - which in turn created a massive momentum etc We can absolutely turn it around but I have a hard time being optimistic. Not to point just one player out but Hossa is, to me, a perpetual disappointment. He should make a bigger impact than this, not just by producing points but by his overall presence on the ice. He looks like a lot of flash but no bang at all right now. He can do way better and this is the time for him to show it.

Can't play hockey much smarter than this. A display of excellence really, even though they didn't capitalize. I doubt Babcock has much to say to them during this intermission.

Anyone else think Byslma looks like he could be Helm's dad?
