Ok fellas, I called the Canadian fans out yesterday for not being online during their close game and heavily implied that they were "hiding" from criticism until the game turned in their favor. To protect myself from similar criticism I have a few things to announce...
1) I took a half a day off from work tomorrow to watch this game. Because I have no responsibility I will be watching it in a bar and getting drunk (so I won't be on LGW).
2) However, because I took a lead part in hyping this matchup and participated heavily in the trash talk it's only fair that I be here to take my lumps if USA loses.
3) So...in the pursuit of fairness, I will be on LGW the second I get home to be taunted endlessly by you Canadian Scallywags in the event of an unlikely American loss.
4) God help you if/when we win.
Honestly, after the game I came on and saw that criticism and laughed. You've obviously never been in Canada while the Olympics are on....
If you're not working during elimination games(watching on a tv there), then you're at a bar or friends place surrounded by other fans having the time of your life.
No offence to LGW but this is the last place I'm going to be during any of these games.

Don't be ridiculous. This topic deserves its own thread. Its the most exciting thing that's happened in hockey in four years.
Thought the U.S. came out soft and passive today. Superior talent and coaching eventually won out.
Canadians out-shot Latvia 54-13, got totally shut-down by a backup goalie, and almost (ALMOST!) embarrassed themselves. (*would've loved to have seen Babcock exposed for the nit-wit he's become)
All that reaalllly scares me on this all-NHL squad that Babcock has effectively neutralized is that Weber-Doughty pairing. Far and away the most dangerous blue-liners the league has seen in the last decade. Outstanding chemistry together. Very scary. And I think the only way we beat them is to beat the hell out of these two, along with Crosby--which goes without saying. US needs to come out hard and fast. FAST and AGGRESSIVE. Canucks gotta be doubting themselves after this last one. Come out hard right off the drop, knock them on their heels, get an early goal or two and pound them into the ground. Keep Perry the h*** off of Quick. Get in Price's face early and often. Rattle that shook bum. Then Quick.. of course, needs to have the game of his life as well.
Don't want to change too much all of the sudden. But Kane is just buried on that second line. Kesler and Parise are not playing very well offensively and its erasing our top talent. I'd LOVE to see Kane freed up on that first line with Brown and Backes. That's a two-goal line. I'd probably chunk Carlson into that idiot Orpik's PT too.
Maybe something like..
Pacioretty-Stastny-Callahan (very limited PT for the 4th line.. I'd mix Callahan in all over the place) Wheeler
Foreign media are sending back photos of some of the rather odd things they've seen at Sochi, regarding the accommodations for the guest athletes. I haven't seen things this funny since the "glory days" of reading National Lampoon.
Some of my faves:
Canada's men's hockey accommodations
Nothing like some good quality bonding time on the s***ter...
Hey sorry to pose this question here but since we're on the subject where do you guys see these griffins games? I wouldn't mind checking them out to see our prospects play and how miserably slow Sammy still is.
I lived in Grand Rapids for a few years and caught the games every Thursday (Thursday is dollar dog/beer night) (there's a nostalgic Larry Murphy fan deep within my soul)
But yeah, as far as I kno, that's the only way to catch up on the games
