I fail to see how this should warrant a suspension or fine. Kind of overreacting here guys.

It's an unsportsmanlike play and could have drawn an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, but that's about it.

If I'm a Wings fan, I'm pissed. If I'm a Preds fan, I'm laughing. But I'm neither...so I'm just impressed that he was able to get away with it.

#2292905 Luongo gone from Vancouver this summer ...

Posted by LeftWinger on 19 April 2012 - 07:04 PM

That's all we need; a crumbling sive of ego, while we unite Franzen with the Sedins. :scared: Are you out of your mind?

Now there is a VERY interesting situation....I know I thought about Franzen to Dallas so he could play with Eriksson and bring us Morrow...but I think if Vancouver felt that Franzen could be a missing piece to their puzzle, if they fail to get out of the first round, they will be looking to make a crucial change....so I ask you, would you take Alexandre Burrows for Franzen? I think I would...Interesting....VERY interesting....

edit: Negg? Really? Burrows AND Morrow WAY better than Franzen...make that trade ALL DAY!

#2292840 Hometown discount for Nick next year?

Posted by LeftWinger on 19 April 2012 - 03:50 PM

The Detroit Red Wings aren't ever going to let Nick walk.

I really hope Nick comes back and is able to regain his early-season form. He's earned the right to keep his salary if he wants to play another season. But, I think he definitely has to understand that a sizeable paycut would really help the team out--and give him the best chance for a Cup.

I am sure he meant retire in that sense, but I agree. If Lidstrom even sniffs more than $2M, then he needs to retire. This team needs a huge overhaul and getting rid of his salary is a great place to start. IMO, he needs to retire, but what will happen is, he will tell everyone he is waiting to see how his ankle heals, then he will handcuff Holland all summer (not that I expect Holland to do whats right for this team anyhow) and the top guys will all be gone...Then Lids will decide late August that he is retiring...Ok, ok, I joke about that one, but he needs to decide before July 1st, preferably by the draft so Holland can start formulating a plan...

"Let him walk" ??? Never!

Sure a pay cut would be nice, but my guess is somewhere a lot closer to 4-5m.

Too much...if they re-sign him for that much, this team is screwed next year. If they want Suter and Parise, they need to be able to offer $14M-$16M between the two of them. Getting only one of them is not enough. Like I said, with the way he is playing and the lack of healing, he needs to seriously think about retiring...

edit: You people that don't agree with this are stupid. He is obviously struggling because of injury, if he cannot fully recover he needs to hang em up. If you dont agree with that then you are dumber than I thought. Of course since you just neg and don't say why we'll never know what your thoughts are. They are probably just this anyhow "Wah Wah, don't say Nicky will retire..he is God!"

#2291924 How do we fix this?

Posted by blueadams on 18 April 2012 - 12:29 AM

Step-by-step procedure:

...There's 22.6 mil in cap space available, with 15/23 roster spots accounted for.

#1) Trade Cleary (for nothing, I don't care). Now there's 25.4 mil in cap space available, with 14/23 roster spots accounted for.

#2) Put Nyquist, Tatar, Smith and Mursak (or Sheahan?) on the roster. Now there's 22.2 mil in cap space available, with 18/23 roster spots accounted for.

#3) Resign Helm and Abdelkader to similar contracts. Now there's 20.5 mil in cap space available, with 20/23 roster spots accounted for.

#4) Sign Parise and Suter to contracts at about 7.0 mil per season. Now there's 6.5 mil in cap space available with 22/23 roster spots accounted for.

#5) The remaining 6.5 mil (and it might be less) is for Lidstrom, who may need to take a pay-cut.

2012/2013 Detroit Red Wings:

Filppula(3.0)-Datsyuk(6.7)-*Parise(7.0)
Franzen(4.0)-Zetterberg(6.1)-Bertuzzi(2.1)
*Tatar(0.8)-*Helm(0.9)-*Nyquist(0.9)
Miller(0.8)-*Abdelkader(0.8)-Eaves(1.2)
Emmerton(0.5)
*Mursak(0.6)

*Lidstrom(6.2)-*Suter(7.0)
Kronwall(4.8)-White(2.9)
*Smith(0.9)-Ericsson(3.3)
Kindl(0.9)

Howard(2.3)
MacDonald(0.6)

...That's a team that could win it all.

i don't get the whole twitter or tweet thing, but it seems to be a good way to get up to date news.

The very reason I joined, and have never looked back. My life would be so hollow without an email saying I have a new follower. Much like it would be if people stopped +1-ing my posts on here... Ahhh who am I kidding?! NOONE plus ones my posts on here :(

#2289328 Preds not allowed to play ping pong at Joe Louis Arena

Posted by purrrnella on 16 April 2012 - 09:46 PM

Exactly.

I have never dismissed this fact. I know the difference between most bandwagon sports fans and diehards who live the team/sport like it's the only thing that matters in life.

I'm sorry Nashville hasn't had a team for 80+ years and that I can't garner your approval of being a true Smashville fan because of so. I will continue to do my best though.

Also yes I haven't been a fan of the new yellow (gold they claim) I still wear my dark blue alternate Weber jersey to all games ;)

Yeah...Brilliant move, come on here and talk about your Weber Jersey...

Posted by HelmFan on 16 April 2012 - 09:22 PM

Yeah but guess what...they don't! They are a little more classy and tend not to use winning something in the past as a CURRENT reference to their team.

The bad thing is the majority of Red Wings fans who throw that stat out there have not been alive for more than the most recent 4, yet live off the others like they were in some guys testicles wearing a Gordie Howe jersey.

I just find it silly to resort (when losing a battle of wits) to bringing up things that happened 20+ years prior to my birth.

is that around the time your Dad starting courting his cousin?

Yeah you're right. Being down 2-1 is SUCH the strangehold. Don't know how the Wings can possibly get out of that one.

Don't talk about being immature and then come on here trolling. Kinda makes you look bad.

You guys need to learn the meaning to words before you erroneously throw them around.

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community."

I have done no such thing. I'm commenting on the topic of Baby Bertuzzi allegedly pulling this little stunt. Then commenting on how thrilled you guys get over it when you should be worrying how you're going to get pucks past Pekka Rinne and convince Howard to actually stop a few.

Kevin Klein scored on you like it was his job...that's embarrassing and I LOVE THE PREDS!

However if this is the only thing associated with the Red Wings that can bring you joy (because their play obviously can't) then by all means have a blast!

Oh and please keep being original and telling me how I have sexual relations with sheep, live in Hickville oh and ever so fresh "We have more cups than you" jab that is universally known as the Bandwagon Red Wings insult.

It's cute to see the Red Wings fans getting all excited about this toy tantrum Bertuzzi threw.

I mean that's really all you have to smile about seeing as you're down 2-1, very possibly 3-1 after tomorrow night before heading back to "CAPITOL OF HICKVILLE" ... lol Capitol...and we're uneducated?

Continue being immature like your players and enjoy the off season :D

Dave Strader (who many of us remember well) is covering the series for NBCSports. He reports that after the morning skate today the Preds were using the ping pong tables outside the dressing rooms to relax. Big Bert stepped out, told them that if they wanted to play ping-pong, they'd have to bring their own table; then he folded the table up and wheeled it into the Wings room. CLASSIC!

#2288722 Retribution for clean hits...

Posted by cprice12 on 16 April 2012 - 08:11 AM

The rough stuff after a clean hit is fine...and often necessary.

You have to let the other team know know that if they do that stuff, they are going to have to answer for it.
Clean hit or not, you don't want the other team thinking they can dish out hard hits all game long without repercussion...so next time, maybe they think twice about dishing out a hard hit.

It's all about team toughness and sticking up for your teammates.
