#2405953 Red Wings don't belong in the same rink as the Hawks?

Posted by Din758 on Yesterday, 09:43 AM

To all the people who believe this OP quote, did anybody think the Isles belonged on the ice with the Pens after game 1? They ended up taking it to 6. This is the parity filled NHL now, though its very possible we lose the series, its not that crazy to think that we can pull out a win or 2.

#2405741 What does Babs do?

Posted by Euro_Twins on 15 May 2013 - 11:29 PM

Wrote this long time ago. Pav and Z don't work anymore. Wings won game 7 because Babcock separated them. Today again. Chicago dominated the game in the 3rd period because Babcock changed the lines.

Will be interesting to see what Babcock plans. Maybe it's a good idea to bring in Tootoo and add some energy.

they work just fine together, but we don't have a second line with them together, that is what doesn't work.

#2405771 Why is Cleary still on the team?

Posted by GoalieManPat on 16 May 2013 - 07:04 AM

Havnt read through the full thread but my opinion on Cleary is this. Ive been extremely frustrated with his play the last 12 months. Atleast he still goes out and gives it 100%. The problem is his body has taken such a beating him giving 100% isnt translating into much. Thank you for your service and congrats on rebuilding your career but its time to hang them up. If Holland re-signs him this offseason I will have lost all confidence in his management ability.

#2396660 Creepy but Hopeful Pattern between 2007 and 2013

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the winner of the Wings/Ducks series always gone on to the Finals?

#2395223 Brian Lashoff to take Dekeyser's place in game 3

Posted by unsaddleddonald on 03 May 2013 - 10:39 AM

im all for lashoff for game 3 ... hes a much bigger body  ( 6'3 200+ ) than white or lashoff he kills penalties and blocks a ton of shots and since hes a bigger guy he will be able to hang in there better with the big guys from the ducks than white or coliacovo who will be pushed around

if white or coliacovo goes in it will lead to a costly turnover in my opinion and we'll regret it ... lashoff was highly counted on at one point and i think hes the guy who SHOULD get the nod

Babs mentioned Cola and Lashoff after the game to John Keating.

Him not mentioning White should be a sign.

That's not really shoulder to chest.  Using that description I expected a Scott Stevens special.  The last angle shows he barely contacted his chest if any.

I do think the 5 minutes was a reaction to the blood, but at full speed it's not that clear cut.

That was full chest, don't know what you are looking at. Pretty mcuh the entire HNIC panel and Keenan said it looked clean.

I watched a little bit earlier. I was surprised at how much Guthrie looks like Ed Helms in the beginning.

Doesn't a #7 seed always manage to beat a #2 seed? It's like the 12 vs 5 matchup in the NCAA hoops tourney. Why not us?

WHY NOT US I SAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked Wings-Leafs in the finals, probably not going to happen, but how awesome would it be if it did.

Same here. I was thinking, man I probably won't get many points, but this would be awesome.

#2391014 Jim Nill to be named Dallas Stars GM

Posted by ogreslayer on 27 April 2013 - 08:05 PM

As soon as my editor posts my new blog entry, you should check it out.  It is a pretty heated slamming of Ken Holland for going against his word and stringing Nill along.  This is the WORST THING TO HAPPEN TO DETROIT in the past 20 years.  The only thing that would be worse is losing Hakin. Holland is spent and he said he was going to retire post Lidstrom.  Now he can't because the guy who deserved the job a year ago is leaving to Dallas and I am angry and embarrassed.  I have no faith in this organization if they string along Jim and then lose him in favor of Holland who seems too timid and tired.  I really hope this is wrong, and if it is right I hope Holland gets fired before Nill signs in Dallas.  I felt secured in the future of the team until tonight.

Switch to decaf & take off the tin foil hat.

From Craig Custance:

"Red Wings GM Ken Holland likes to joke that Lidstrom's retirement press conference will be followed shortly by his own"

From Bob McKenzie:

“DET GM Kenny Holland always used to joke, at least I think he was joking, that he would retire five minutes after Nick Lidstrom retired.”

From Kevin Allen @ US Today:

"GM Ken Holland used to joke that he was going to retire when Lidstrom retired"

And strung along?  The same man who was at the top of pretty much every team's wish list that had an opening the past couple of years, was given opportunities to interview for them, & turned them all down due to the fact he wanted to stay in Michigan as his wife was battling cancer?  The same man that was paid as much as GM's throughout the league & was on record saying that he loved the autonomy that Kenny gave him to do his job?  That's being strung along?  In the immortal words of Sgt. Hulka, "Lighten up, Francis".

Good for Nill.  He's ready to move on to the next step of his career & run his own team and good for the Wings to recognize it's time too, just like they did with Stevie.
