I don't know if anyone is actually using this for their Facebook timeline cover or not, but I'll just continue to keep updating it as we move forward...
Quincey was bad with us, but he's got the potential to be a very good defenseman. Something just wasn't clicking.
Quincey can do everything, hit, shoot, pass, and skate, just a matter of putting it together. I have a good feeling about him this season.
He was getting top-pair minutes in Colorado the last two seasons. I have a feeling he was just having trouble adjusting to the system and we will see a much improved Quincy this year.
Get rid of Kindl before Ericsson or Quincy, and pass on Semin, especially at that cap hit.
And why the hell would you want to get rid of Helm??? He isn't and probably won't ever be a top 6 forward, but he has amazing speed and is great on the PK, and for s decent cap hit I would bring him back in a heartbeat.
Funny comment I heard from the TradeCenter stream on TSN. First Ganger was in a lot of trade discussion, until he had his 8 point night against Chicago. Then LA was considering trading Brown, until he got his Hat-trick the other night against Chicago. Then last night, when Chicago had a shot at dealing a blow to Anaheim's playoff chances which could have led to some deadline moves, they blew it and Anaheim stuck in the race for the 8th spot. So this lackluster trade deadline is obviously all Chicago's fault
Holland made few moves in the offseason after Rafalski's retirement , because he looked forward to today. He kept that $5 million in cap space all season. And for what? By not adding any players today, the Red Wings basically sat on $5 million all season for no reason at all. It's not like we can keep that $5 million and add it to next year's cap space. We could have definitely used a rental player and given up picks for him.
Holland has been keeping us under Cap for this coming off season, when a lot of players will go UFA and we won't lose any depth picking them up. As for a rental player this year, before the Commodore deal we would have had to trade someone with a contract with those picks, and after the deal I haven't seen anyone I would want at the prices they went for, and from what I was hearing all day on the TSN Tradecenter stream the prices for anyone who I think the Wings could have used, like Ott, was way to high for what we would be getting in return.
