#2467810 Hockeytown authentics is not really authentic

Posted by WizardOfOz30 on 27 December 2013 - 08:46 AM

I just wish they would sell exactly what the players wear on the ice. I bought a game used practice jersey and it was much heavier and cut differently.

Dont get me wrong, I love the jersey but when they say authentic, I expect the same jersey the pros wear

I think the only way you'll get the heavier jersey is if you get the game worn ones.  My guess is it's too expensive to mass produce jerseys to the quality that the players have.  I do miss those days of the good CCM heavier weight jerseys (compared to the ones now)

He's not an outside party, but that role is supposed to be Bettman's. Yes he is ultimately hired by the ownership but he is also supposed to be a steward of the league and operate in its best overall interests, not just act as a patsy for the owners. It's been mentioned in the press several times that he has a lot of latitude and authority from ownership in these negotations.

Obviously 30 different owners have varying interests. His job shouldn't be merely to galvanize them against the players union, but also to convince them to move in ways that help the overall league, not just their particular franchise.

That is the problem, he is not an objective 3rd party. If he's going to continue to be part of the problem he needs to go. I understand this is a business and he's trying to do what's best for it, but you can't make any money when you are locking out your players. Seems like they are making an effort but the NHL is not budging, it doesn't work that way...

Hockey players and owners are "normal" people that are just more successful fiscally than you (and I). Good for them, it's free market economics at work. These posts harping on the amount of money being made reek of jealousy and class envy. Let's be happy that players get payed well in the NHL; it's a big that reason that many of them are in this league... and you get to enjoy watching them.

It's defnintely not envy, if they have the ability to make that much money good for them. I guess being a single mom that struggles with the bills every month I have a hard time having sympathy for the guys making millions of dollars and arguing over a few hundred thousand. Give me one of these guys' million dollar salary for just one year and I could make that work for a very long time. It's all about perspective and once you get that much money giving up even a little must seem like a hardship.

I was just joking around....which is why I included the :P

Slow day at the office, I need something to pass the time. But I do agree with you, if someone decides to be greedy it's harder to side with them.

#2306265 Winter Classic Prices Announced

Posted by WizardOfOz30 on 09 June 2012 - 09:18 PM

While I was expecting ticket prices to be in those ranges I think it's terrible that there will be no public ticket sales. So if we don't have a connection that is willing to sell us the tickets for face value we can all expect to pay double(?) from the greedy ones that do have access to them. Not a good way to sell the game. :nono:

Zero sense this makes.

As for the political dealie/skipping the White House celebration, I think it's a bit of a reach to see how these two specific things are connected. Happened months and months ago so I don't see why it is reason to be brought up when him possibly skipping out has probably little or nothing to do with politics/government.

And as for him skipping out, was his choice and his business. Don't really agree with it but I understand and respect his decision. All I'm going to say on that since I pretty much have given up talking politics in depth a long time ago.

But it's not just his business, he is making a selfish decision that could potentially affect the Bruins financially . Plus he signed a contract, I don't understand why everyone seems to think it's ok to break an agreement. That is a general statement for the mindset that seems to be common now. If you agreed to something hold up your end of it or make sure you make amends for not doing it and you better have a damn good reason too! I say if he wants the year off he should have to pay any penalty that the Bruin's might have to burden. And if he chooses to retire, I saw somewhere that the Bruins would still owe him money...he should have to forfeit it.

You could always just give the first person to guess the right number the prize. Other than that, I have no idea.

Not being a very good team player. As much as I like him, I don't agree with breaking your contract and letting the team take the hit for your salary because you just don't feel like playing. Wish we all had the option to just take a leave of absence when we feel like it and have a job to come back to...it doesn't work that way in the real world.

Original 6 is just that - original. You do not add to that, find another marketing ploy if that is the angle you're going for.
