You do know that Salei didn't actually steal Lilja's job, don't you?

Lilja passed on the contract the Wings offered.

Doesn't matter, Lilja is still a better choice.

I'm glad he signed with someone, but not happy that he's with the Ducks. Hopefully he'll find a way to have a good year and end up somewhere better next year.

I really hope the team shows up for Osgood tonight. I'm hoping he has a great season and very happy to see him in net tonight. For now good for Babcock giving him a fair chance.

I would laugh my friggin' ass off if Lils got a contract with the Sharks and had a better year than Ericsson.

He will just to prove to the Wings that he was worth what he was asking. I hope he has a great season.

I'm glad to hear they want him. I'd prefer him in red but at least he gets to play at least one more season. Maybe the Wings can try to get him back next year if we need him.

As of yesterday SJ sent 2 more defensemen to the minors. Lilja is still on the training camp roster. Camp roster

Not sure about the order that they list the guys, but he is the 5th one, so maybe he's got a chance yet.

I was noticing the little plus symbol recently because it's the same as something I work on at work, but I didn't notice the minus gone. Now you have me wondering.

I can see Ozzie's tenure in Detroit lasting exactly as long as McCollum's development stint in GR. To me this means Ozzie will most likely play one or two years beyond this upcoming season. But I would not be suprised to see a Howard/McCollum tandem in 2012/13. Who knows though, anything can happen, especially with goalies in Detroit.

I agree. Obviously he's doing a good job mentoring Howard and he has proven himself capable, so he will do fine as the back up. I'm just hoping that he has more of an opportunity to prove himself to all the doubters the keep saying he's done. Last season was very bad, but the circumstances caused it more than anything.

I just can't imagine Lilja being a top4 Dman in the nhl, he's not good enough. You need more offensive abilities playing top4 minutes.

I think he was holding out more for the role than the money. If another team would be willing to give him a chance he might have been able to prove that he does have that ability. Sad he won't be here this season since I just got his jersey in February, but I'll still wear it to games.
