The way the Wings have played these last 6 weeks I wouldnt be confident in a playoff series vs the Oilers if we didnt starton home ice - so yeah, the Blues are more than capable of beating the Wings if both teams keep heading in their respective directions.

Respective directions? Detroit hasn't had a stable team in a month plus. Howard in/out. E out. Lids out. Mule out. Datsyuk out. Bertuzzi out. Eaves still out. MacDonald out. For a while, I would have put the injured lineup against a lot of teams- Eaves-Datsyuk-Bertuzzi, Lids-E, Howard. Can you seriously tell me that any team can withstand those losses and not struggle? I see three all-stars from this year.

I'd argue we can't infer much of anything from March, simply because it's not the same team. Unless, that is, you think Smith, Mursak, Nyquist, Conklin and Kindl are representative of the day-to-day quality of the play.

Wrong. Iran has executed 4000 people since 1979 for being homosexual, there is routine imprisonment for such in Saudi Arabia. Homosexuality is punishable by death in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria, Gambia and Somalia. Over 5000 died strictly for that "crime" in Nazi Germany.

From 31-35: Cleary, Datsyuk, Franzen, Zetterberg, Commodore, Stuart, Conklin.
From 36-40: Bertuzzi, Holmstrom.
Over 40: Lidstrom.

Who are you dropping to get a "Youth injection"? 13 of the 23 guys on the roster are 30 or younger. The "older" guys include possibly the best 1-2 punch in the game, and 2 damn solid power forwards in Cleary and Franzen. Bertuzzi is just above this at 36, and still was over half a point per game last year. Holmstrom's slowing down, sure, but he's fitting well on the lower lines. The only over-40 guy is Lidstrom.

Exactly where are you putting "young" guys? More than half the team is already there. Yeah, they're the oldest team in the league by average age, but having a 41 year old Lidstrom and a 38 year old Holmstrom pulls up the average a long way.

The sad thing is that he's actually immensely talented and capable of being a top goalie in the NHL.  It's a damn shame he's built out of glass.

I agree with the parties above...this is not the time and place for a religious argument or anything remotely resembling one.  This is a time for all of us to reminisce and to share our grief and condolences.  By talking and sharing, we somehow lessen the burden we feel.  But no religious arguments are needed here.  Let us share our feelings and our grief in whatever manner we hope might lend some comfort.

You simply can't allow someone into the Hall based on what might have been. As it is, Crosby has 1 Cup, 1 Olympic Gold, 2 Finals appearances, a Pearson, Hart, Ross and 4 All-Star appearances. Compared to other notables not in the Hall, that's nothing.

Pavel Bure: 6 All-Star games, Calder and 2 Richards.
Phil Housley: 7 All-Star games, 1 Finals appearance, 2nd most points by an American.
Sergei Makarov: nearly a point per game for his career, despite starting in NHL late. 8 World Championships, Calder, Canada Cup.
Adam Oates: 4 All-Star games, better than a point per game for his career.
Fred Shero: 2 Cups as a coach, 4 trips to the Finals, Adams, Patrick.
Eric Lindros: Hart, Pearson, 7 All-Star games, 1 Finals appearance.

How exactly does he stand out as a lock when the likes of Housley, Oates and Bure are out?

I'd like to see it, personally. In truth, I don't see it as a gimmick- it's a fun play on words, like Tootoo wearing 22.

Let me preface this by saying I am married to a long time computer geek/techno wizard.  So I've had to learn a little about computers over the years (although it seems to have gone in one ear and out the other just as fast).

The Commodore 64 computers are still in use by a lot of amateur radio operators.  Don't ask me why, but they like them.  In fact, I think my other half has one up in the loft of our barn that someone was going to throw out.  I don't why he saved it, but he did.

Far from being obsolete, they serve a purpose in a small but important niche.  Perhaps that is the best way to look at it.

Hell, NASA still uses TRS-80 computers for some mission-specific calculations- they work, no need to change them. A friend of mine on another forum has been tasked with finding parts for them when he was stationed at Canaveral- said it was nearly impossible.

If he does this, I'm buying the sweater. No better way to combine geekiness and Wings cred.
